Anyone planting anything this year? What's succesful in Ohio (and low maintenance preferably)? I know tomatoes do well here but would like to plant a couple other things.
I don't have enough sun in my yard for a garden (also I suck at gardening). But my neighbors have a lot of luck with peppers (all kinds) and cucumbers.

I kill veggie plants, even tomatoes (technically a fruit), but we have 2 apple trees, a pear tree, and a mulberry bush in our yard. That counts for something, right? I've had really good luck with chives, oregano, sage and rosemary. My rosemary plant died when I moved my herb garden around (suspect I dug too close to its roots) last year, but the other plants did really well through the move.
Anything will grow here. You just have to know whether it's shade loving or sun loving and put it in the right place around your house. If your yard is clay soil, you might need some extra fertilizer. We do mostly flowers though, not veggies.

I am planning on it. DH spent all day yesterday and today cleaning out the yard including the space I use as a garden. Last year I had tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers and squash. In previous years I have had lettuce, potatoes, beans, carrots, herbs and corn. I am thinking of going semi-big this year because I am all about saving the money.

I garden- my family is from butler county, so we use to have this huge gardens when I grew up. I still help with my dad's.
I have also sign up for the community garden in my area, to have a little plot there..don't know how that will go, I have no real sun in my backyard. Even so I am trying to grow a shade garden- which consist of carrots, radishes, cabbage, broccoli, lettuce and greens. For the community garden plot- I am going to put the sunny veggies, peppers, tomato's zucchini-
everything will grow here- most sun love veggies you put them in around mothers day. You put the veggies that can handle colder soil temps after st. pats day- i might wait and extra weekend because it was colder this year...
if you need any advice pm me, i am super dork about veggies!

bluerainfire do you do starts yourself? If not, where do you get them from? I get a couple from a local woman and end up getting the rest from Lowes. I am interested in going all organic with the plants this year. Normally I go all organic with my fertilizer and half organic with my starts.
mrscatfarmer13 totally counts! I wish I had a built In garden!
Glad to hear anything can grow here. Now to decide what to plant! I tend to get overzealous and sign myself for everything then flop on everything when it comes to home projects... Think small...
