QOTD 3/23

When was the last time you went to a real estate open house? Were you in the market or just looking out of curiosity? Did you look at any houses out of your price range? Did you see anything interesting?

DH and I went this weekend just for fun. (We aren't opposed to moving at some point, but we're pretty happy with our house for the time being.) We looked at a couple houses within our price range, one of which I really wanted to buy and needed to be reminded that we weren't actually looking. But we also looked at one that is more than 3 times what ours is worth, and it was a really nice house (lots of bathrooms, all with 2 sinks!) except it had a big swampy area right off the backyard. The realtor didn't even acknowledge us there. We also looked at a couple places that were only about $20-50K out of our price range, and I fell in love with one that DH didn't like because of the color. (It had really outdated bathrooms, but I would just replace those, of course.)

We go to show homes quite often. We are looking to build a new home in the next year or two, so we are just in the initial process of getting ideas and seeing what's out there. I do love going just for fun as well!

I've never been to an open house. When we bought out house last year, we found ones we liked online or that out realtor sent out and made appointments to see them.

We still don't own and aren't sure yet when we will want to buy. DH's career is growing a lot right now, and with my job being very portable we don't want to be tied down just yet. However, I always think it would be fun just to go and dream a little!

November 2009 when we were looking to buy a house. We had seen a house that we liked, saw a few more houses just to be sure, then brought our parents to see the one we liked (they've bought houses before and we hadn't, so we valued their opinion on whether or not it was a good one to buy). By the end of December, the house was ours and by mid-January, we'd completely moved in.

2011. We were interested in two houses (one that we actually bought). For some reason the realtor gave us the code for the key lock box and we went at night without him to look. Actually the other house we looked at inside we did without the realtor too.

I actually have never been to one. I had always rented before I met SO and he owned a house already so we stayed there. We hopefully will move to a better area within the next two years so I imagine I'll attend some in that time

My oldest daughter was about a year and a half when I went to an open house with my cousin. We were going to buy a house together. I was a single mom and she was not looking for a relationship with anyone anytime soon. We saw a nice single family home where the upstairs looked like it was a copy of the downstairs minus a kitchen so that would have worked out for us.

Yesterday. We're actively house hunting right now, though it's not going well since we're about 6 months in and haven't found one yet.

We are listing our rental property on April 1st, so I did a walk through with the real estate agent for the assessment last week.

The last one we looked at is our current home in July 2013. It was in our price range, had everything that DH and I wanted and was just in the knick of time before DD came

5 years ago when we bought our current house, and before that it was 11 years ago when we bought our first house. We don't just go see houses, but that sounds like fun.

Almost 20 hrs ago when my friend and I were crushing on some guy who had his house up for sale (stalker much)?

I don't do open houses because the average 2-3 bed no frills house here starts at a million. I'd rather not depress myself by looking at what I can't and will likely never afford.

I have never been to an open house. My husband flips houses and usually the ones I see are like a total disaster. Including the house we live in now which was a foreclosure and a total room to room wall to wall gut job. But its BEAUTIFUL now and I can't wait to do the rest of the work we plan on doing....DH is super talented in that way.

Last October - we were in the market and bought the house we are currently living in.
