Actually, she didn't ask me. She asked my baby in a cutesy passive-aggressive tone where his little shoes were. Gag.)

Motherhood is not the be all end all of everything. It is ok to have a life, a career, a hobby, or even just freaking five minutes to yourself.

My personal number one commandment is to make sure my child feels loved everyday. I'm sure someone could articulate that in a better way because wine.

Lots of great ones here. Wow! I think one that's important is to put your own mask on first. You can't care for others if you can't breathe/aren't healthy/are overly exhausted/etc. ask for help!

Motherhood reinvents itself all the time. Today you are the cleaner upper of vomit and poop, someday you will be the playmate and teller of bedtime stories, eventually you will be the person who guides them to adulthood. It is ok to not like every part of being a mother, focus on the parts you do love.

I second what works for one mom won't necessarily work for another and be gentle on yourself. Comparison and negative thoughts steal your joy too easily. It's so hard to remember that sometimes.

Feed your child. It doesn't matter how; just do it in a way that works for you and your baby.

Trust your instincts and that you DO know what's best for your baby.

It's ok to not soak up every moment. Some moments suck.

Children need to see us model self love. Take care of yourself and your own needs - this makes you a better parent.

So many good ones here! So much overlap that really highlights how much we push ourselves to sacrifice like we aren't good mothers until we've given every last scrap of ourselves. When I am feeling all the mom pressure, I try to step back and think of what I want for lo when she becomes a mother. Dont sacrifice yourself for anyone. Treat yourself the way you would treat lo. Dont set impossible expectations. It's ok to be happy and have free time and have selfish moments.
