Got my first leg cramp of this pregnancy this morning. Looks like I'm going to buy some bananas on lunch.
Some of you may remember my lovely crib drama post on TB a few weeks back... Anyways, we picked out a crib on Amazon and planned to order it after taxes to make sure we didn't spend all the money we've saved up in case we have to pay in this year. Saturday night, MIL offered to let us use her $90 credit she has on Amazon to go toward it. Then last night, my mom called to ask what I wanted her to buy this LO as a gift. I our list of what all we still need to get, and she offered to give $100 toward the crib. The total price of the crib is $195 (with free shipping), so that means we're only out $5 on a brand new crib!!!!! We're ordering it this weekend! Super excited!
Last random... I've had some awful back pains off and on since Friday night. It feels like the same pain I had with DS1 that landed me in the hospital for pre-labor at 30 weeks. I'm trying to hold off on going to the ER since I have a doctor appointment on Thursday (but I will go if I feel this baby is in any danger of coming early). Bed rest sucks. Please send some good vibes this way that I don't have to do that again.
I am with the no sleep ladies. I have been having the worst sleep. Mainly back, sciatica and now rib pain. Not sure what is up with the rib pain... seems to only bother me when I am sitting on the couch and laying on my side - so seems to be a positional thing.
@lalalady54, thank you! She's 13 months so too young to vocalize her discomfort other than a cry and whine. She looks so pathetic right now it's heartbreaking. I had posted on the Monday bitch thread about her being sent home from daycare yesterday.
The good news is, after a call back to my doctor, is that measles is kind of the better of the two. The rash usually only lasts 3 days vs 7-15 for chicken pox. We just have to ride it out and monitor her for fever spikes.
I went to one hospital tour last night. Got most of my questions answered. Tonight I've got a tour at the other hospital my OB delivers at, they are like a block away from each other. I was born at one of them, and my sister at the other, but my mom doesn't remember which was where. I think it would be kind of cool to have my son at the same hospital I was born at (my mom also wanted me to look into using the same OB that she had to deliver us, but that's too weird for me and he's really old now.) I'm going to apply for more jobs today, fx I get one! And I'm having trouble finding something to cover my bump and still look somewhat professional. I swear it popped overnight!
I spent my morning looking for a new job. Now is not the time change jobs, but I just can't stand what I do anymore. I feel stuck.
We had 4 contractors out to quote a bathroom remodel. One laughed at our budget of $20k and walked out, one came back at $35-40k, and the other two haven't gotten back to us in a month. I really was hoping to get this project done before the baby, but there's no way we can put $40k into a bathroom. I priced out materials and we're looking at $8k, so now DH is talking about doing it himself (I don't feel comfortable doing a lot of what's needed while pregnant), but he's busy doing all the woodwork at his parents house that his mom was convinced she didn't need to hire someone to do because she could do it herself. When DH watched her attempt to cut a piece of wood in half and almost cut her hand off, he decided he had to do it for her. At this rate, I'll see my husband sometime in December, when we'll be able to work on our own house. I swear if I hear her complain about her house not being finished or ask us when we're going to get our bathroom done one more time, I'm going to hulk smash her face.

Great. Whatever congestion DD picked up at ILs I now have and the drainage is making me feel barfy. I cannot be down for another week. It takes me three weeks to catch up!

Holy shit. We are going to start on finishing our basement soon and the full estimate for adding stud walls, two bedrooms, a storage room, drywall and paint is 5k.
Bathrooms are not something you really want to tackle yourself though sorry. How old is the house?

Wow!! No! That is WAY too much!! A kitchen, maybe. But bathroom? No freaking way! Try to go for it yourself or at least act as the contractor and hire the plumber, tile guy, etc directly yourself.

Super bummer- if it is measles, I will say your OB may want you to stay away even if you are immune, I work in a peds ED and have a strong immunity to measles from vaccination however my MFM still told me to try and stay away, which I know is IMPOSSIBLE as a mom of a sick child, my DD won't hang out with my DH when she is sick
Also Id call her school, the whole school may need to be closed for 24 hours measles is highly contagious, after we have a kiddo in the ED with confirmed measles we close that room for 24 hours
ETA: I'm sure places all handle it differently but I would ask your doctor their thoughts
Thank you for all that info! I'm kind of annoyed the doctor made it seem like not a big deal. We just called back to get further clarification. At this point it's impossible for me to avoid it, all she wants is to cuddle with me. I'll definitely give the daycare a call back as well once I talk to the doctor again. I just don't want to panic them if it isn't measles. Kid rashes are so tough to know for sure. My aunt also mentioned that it could be an allergic reaction and I've been wracking my brain trying to figure out what she could have been exposed to that's different. I can't come up with a single thing.
Most of my commute is on a 3 lane highway where the speed limit is 60mph. Generally I set my cruise control to 70 and am good to go. A lot of cops hang out there and I've realized they won't stop me at that speed. Lots of other people like to go 80+ though and slam on their breaks when they see a cop, which is super obnoxious.
Today I was doing my thing and was in the left lane. This car comes out of nowhere, zips past me into the middle (cutting really closely into traffic there) and then immediately back in front of me (where there's also not enough space). Next thing I know there's a cop behind me who also passes me and then turns their lights on behind this jerk.
I just got done FaceTiming my mom. She was sitting up in their living room eating oatmeal, which is awesome because she's been in bed since Saturday when the chemo started making her really sick. Her nausea never got super bad, she's just been really, really tired. We're not really sure what to expect from this chemo, but here's hoping she's someone who can tolerate it fairly well.

jenari, I'm so sorry this situation is just not resolving itself. I hope it does soon and your little one will be back to normal soon!
jerseyakl, I'm super jealous right now. That is such a sweet and unexpected gesture from your DH. Well done, sir!
My random is that I will sadly not be able to check in as much over the next 3 days. The group therapy starts back up full throttle today so I'll be MIA until about 2pm each day. Try not to do anything too exciting while I'm gone.
I love that you say put the dogs away. I do too and H always teases me, he's like: "Where would you like them? On their shelf?"
That totally made me giggle!
We always say "put them up" too. But our dog (now dogs, still haven't quite gotten used to having the second one) go in kennels so they really do kind of get put up.

It's awesome you decided to do the therapy! I hope that it's everything you want it/need it to be. I'll be thinking about you!

Ours get put in a pen for the night, or when I am sleeping during the day. If I sleep on the sofa they (Beatrix) don't get in to anything, but if I leave them out while I sleep during the day I wake up to find DVDs eaten and garbage knocked over. The past few week we have been leaving them out when DH leaves for work and I come home. Normally about an hour or two.
