chunkymonkeylvr I hope things get better! What bank are you using? Some banks are notorious for slowing down and screwing up home sales and purchases. Guys, I'm team Seventh Generation Night Diapers. No scent and they work extremely well. We cloth diaper during the day for DS1. Still figuring out what I want to do for DS2. We did just order a bunch of the Seventh Generation Touch of Cloth for him though, we occasionally use them for DS1 and I like them. So I'm feeling like a super mom today. I did the following while wearing the baby: gave DS1 lunch, cleaned up DS1's lunch in the form of mass quantities of vomit (sorry if that's TMI), cleaned the vomit off his clothes, got him ready for his nap, and put him down to sleep. I don't want to be a supermom if this is what is required...

@nachomama we went American financial. It was on the recommendation of my realtor. It was going good, but then the guy we were working with is no longer there and the info he told us might not have been the best.
really trying to have the attitude of if it was meant to be it will be. While the house is amazing there are no out buildings and not too much flat space, we would have to modify it a great deal to get space how we want it, so if we don't get it I will be heart broken in some ways but not in others.
Being super mom is exhausting. Hope no one is sick at your house.

JoBub I'm not sure what quanities Pampers boxes are but when Target is running their giftcard deals I can get the price of size 3 Huggies Little Movers(92count) down to 21cents or 20 if I have 2 coupons. I imagine the numbers for Pampers are probably pretty close.
nachomomma That is impressive, you deserve all the wine tonight.
chunkymonkeylvr I hope everything works out ok. If you decide you want to switch lenders, I have nothing but great things to say about our loan officer with American Mortgage, sometimes I can't believe how awesome .
I'll have to look into Amazon. I have prime and I use the subscription service for a couple of things, but you have to have 5 (I think) to get the extra discount, and I'm having a hard time coming up with 5 things that we need regularly and are worth it. Some things (like toiletry items) seem like they're more expensive on Amazon.
Until now, I've only bought diapers like twice. Both when there were big discounts at Target and I stocked up. My rule has always been to stock up if it's less than 20 cents per diaper. But my stash is almost gone, and with the larger sizes, 20 cents/diaper doesn't seem reasonable anymore.
Amazon Mom is free if you have Amazon Prime. You do have to sign up in a separate place because they ask for your child's stats. You also do subscribe to the items, but you can cancel them any time and you don't have to have X # of items to get the discount. There's also %'s off of wipes, formula, food, etc. Here's a link I found in my account for referrals. It may or may not work.
Full disclosure - I may receive some type of credit, but I'm not sure how it works.
mom2boxers, I clicked on your link. It's not free for me because my Prime status is through my mom's account. You can share your free shipping with a couple of people, so that's all I have, instead of the full membership. It would be $99/year. Do you think it's still worth it? I know it's hard to calculate how much you potentially save...

This is what I usually do too. It's just since he's been in size 4 that even with the gift card sale it's like 26 cents I think. One time last summer they had an extra $10 (I think?) off if you bought online and shipped to the store, plus the gift card for buying 2 boxes. There was a limit for how many times you could do it, but I did it as many times as I could, and then my husband did too. We got like a year's worth of diapers. It was so worth it. But unless they run that sale again, I need a new plan.

You could see if your mom could add it to her account. I was looking at the terms and they have an option for selecting the relationship as "family member". Worth a shot. Not sure how it would work with payment methods though.

If you only use the Prime Membership for the shipping, I still think it's worth it, but I'm an Amazon junkie. I do take full advantage of the other benefits though, Prime Movies / TV Shows / Music, the cloud. I also have an Amazon CCard, which accumulates points every time I use it, I think it's more points when used through Amazon than when used at other retailers (and I have it so that all my monthly subscriptions get charged to there), so I always end up with X dollars off my purchases thanks to the points, in addition to the % off.

I'll have her look. I'm pretty sure it would be the same if I could just come up with 5 subscriptions for regular prime, though. Right now, I get wipes and carpet cleaner solution. Anyone else have something you prefer to buy on Amazon?

Edit: Because I think faster than I type.
I'm an Amazon junkie as well. I buy everything baby-related at Amazon. And a ton of other stuff too. But I already get the free shipping (and it didn't cost me anything). So in order for it to be worth it to sign up for Amazon Mom, I'd have to be able to get my $99 back just in the additional savings. I suppose I should suck it up and do the math (considering my profession). I'd have to buy over $500 worth of baby stuff each year, for the 20% savings to get me my $100 back. But, since I can already get 5% back if I subscribe with my regular prime, I'd have to spend $667 each year to break even. I think it would be cutting it pretty close.

I'm looking for ways to not do work today so I checked out the AmazonMom. Those lowerst I could get swaddlers to was 26 cents. I know Sam's is running a special on their website for $10 off Pampers when you purchase diapers and wipes, which would also take the diapers down from 31 cents to 26. Basically, unless you have a super special discount or come across an amazing deal then 26 cents seems to be the average. I'll stop preaching to the choir, now.
*continues preaching* I remember reading that you can get a better price per diaper when you combine coupons and sales on small packages of diapers. That may be a good option to look for if you don't need diapers asap.
TBH, the most work I'm willing to do for a good price on diapers is wait for a good sale at Target and stock up. I don't want to be clipping coupons and looking for sales every week. But thanks for confirming that 26 cents is the best price around. I guess I'll just stock up the next time Target runs a gift card sale.

I lied, again. I'm sorry it I'm being annoying, hell I'm semi-annoying myself right now.
This week Target is running a coupon for a $20 giftcard when you buy $125 in baby stuff, this can be combined with the $10 gc offer when you buy 2 boxes of diapers. You would need to buy 4 boxes, but when you factor in the GC savigs that brings the price to 24 cents/diaper, even less if you have a red card and coupons.
sstwinklinglites, I think about getting the Amazon credit card every time I buy something and see their little advertisement. It seems like it's probably worth it, but we recently paid off all of our credit card debt and have been trying to use debit for everything so we can track our spending a little easier. I don't know if I trust myself with an Amazon credit card.
In other news, I logged on to Amazon from the computer last night and there was a banner across the top that said I've been a member for 8 years. Sheesh... talk about making me feel old...

I'm done this time, for real.
The last time we bought pampers using prime, it was down to 21 cents/ diaper... You have to be sure to compare the right quantities and size diaper and type- because cruisers size 4 at Walmart has a different number per box than the same one on Amazon. But we do get like 10% off, then 5%. But I do not use coupons so I don't know prices after coupon.
Our 5)
Diapers Wipes Paper towels Toilet paper Clorox wipes
You could also do trash bags, diaper pail bags, toilet cleaner, febeeze, auto oil...
And you can always suspend your diapers or whatever for a month or more if you don't need it.

I'm going to jump in on the diaper, money saving convo....check out babycheapskate.com they post diaper and wipe deals every week for both Amazon and in-store.
You ladies rock- I have some good ideas of diaper deals now!! We haven't had to buy any yet, so this is very helpful. Trying to decide if I should do the target deal or not... I have a stash of baby related coupons I could pair it up with so it probably is a good time.

The target brand gave dd a rash, and so did luvs. Currently we use one pamper pull up at night Huggies leak if she does decided to pee overnight. All the diaper talk makes me missing having a wee little one.
random- I don't know if my eight year old believes in the Easter bunny. Is it bad I want to stretch this out as long as possible? I don't want all the magic to just come out of the world just yet, and nor do I know how to handle the conversation don't tell your little sister. My dh almost blew it, at dinner, and I wanted to slap him. I just feel like the magic of childhood goes to fast!

lindsay - yes if you have coupons you can use in store, this week is the perfect time to use your coupons. Target runs the $10gc when you guy two boxes all of the time, but the $20gc promo is rare.

JoBub - I get so much cash back using the Amazon CCard, that it's worth it to me. Also, I pay it off every month, so there's no running debt on it.
becole is right about the diaper comparisons, it seems different retailers have boxes in different sizes for the same brand / type / size.
Some things I have on auto delivery that are cheaper through Amazon than anywhere else:
Toilet Paper Laundry Package (I get a box that comes with two 35 ct. bags of Tide Pods, two 35 ct. boxes of dryer sheets, and a canister of Downy Scent Boosters for under $35 - this lasts me about two months) Garbage Bags Dish Washer Tabs Diapers Wipes Diaper Pail Refills (by far the very cheapest anywhere)

Adding another diaper brand in the mix...the Walgreens brand is actually pretty good. I wouldn't recommend as a night time diaper and have only tried the size 2 and above. I think wags is doing b1g1 starting Sunday and there is a 1.50 q you can print online. They are going to be like 3 bucks a pack.

I was actually wondering the other day what the difference between swaddlers and baby dry is. Is baby dry supposed to just be a nighttime diaper? We have 3 boxes of them and tried them last night to see if it would hold any better. It seemed like the same as the swaddlers, but the swaddlers seem more comfortable.
And, omg I'm tired. This growth spurt is killing us at night.
Post by mom2boxers on Mar 26, 2015 15:13:23 GMT -5
babylove518 - I think there's an extra layer in the Baby Dry and it might be a slightly different mix of stuff that absorbs the urine. Also, Swaddlers are softer. Cruisers is more comparable for an on-the move diaper to Swaddlers. Swaddlers are also the only ones that have the stripe that turns blue when they're wet.
When Costco opens in Florence, I will be for sure going there, but it's really nice not to have to haul those big items like diapers, tp, to and from the store. And it's tough for me to get to the store every week, much less when I find that we have one roll left, lol. I love the shipping for that.
