Freyjas hair is getting super long and I hate the idea of cutting it. I try to put it up or clip it back so it's not in her way but the moment I touch her hair a meltdown happens. Any tips on how to distract her long enough to do something with this mane?

Is there a show she likes? Or a toy she can play with long enough to distract her? E has long hair and I put it up everyday so its out of her eyes. I let her brush her hair first, then tell her mommy is going to do it now. She only has given me a fight a few times.

I tell her I am going to put her "pretty" in her hair. Then we sit there and I talk to her or distract her with a book. Then she has to see it and I make a big deal about how pretty she looks.
Will she have a complex when she grows up? Probably, but I am okay with it. I call it confidence... lol
I am so looking forward to this in a yr and a half with Y!!
Opposite. M's hair is already so long in the back that I almost always accidentally pull it when I pick her up. I am not looking forward to wrestling barrettes and ponytails in her hair. I suppose some day I'll need to learn to french braid, too.
Another one with toothbrush distraction here. I let her have at it while I comb and put up her hair. Extra bonus of having her face the sink so I can turn on the water to distract her as well.
Also, I'm not too picky. If I can manage to get it in while walking down the hall beside her with her hair in my hand? I'm calling it a win.
I find something to distract Ev. I typically sit on my bed with her and turn on the TV/let her play with the remote or sit her on the bathroom counter, feet in the sink. In the bathroom she gets into everything, but it keeps her entertained long enough to get her hair done. She also likes to have her own comb while I'm doing her hair.
Some days she doesn't mind - like this morning, I did 3 connected piggies down each side. Days when she's fighting everything and throwing a fit, I leave her hair as is.
If her hair is still looking good at the end of the day and she doesn't need it washed, I'll leave it for the next day!
