1. Tell us part of your daily ritual that others may consider odd. Hm, I don't know any particular thing that would be seen as odd. I don't shower every day- some people see that as odd.
2. What's the best thing you've read lately. I just finished The Particular Sadness of Lemon Cake. It was good. Very engaging. I feel like it could have been a more in depth story and a much longer book, but it was an interesting concept and well written.
3. What's the kindest thing a stranger has done for you? This may not be the kindest, but it's the most recent. On the way to my grandpa's funeral, someone started honking at us. We were trying to figure out why, and then I realized (I hadn't been paying attention) we were in a speed trap and SO was going over the speed limit. It's one of those stretches of road that should have a higher speed limit but where they'll ticket you for going 1 mile over. Anyway, she slowed down, and sure enough there was someone out there looking for speeders. When the car who had honked drove past us, the driver gave us a thumbs up. It cheered me up on a sad day to see someone do something selflessly. Getting a ticket that made us late for the funeral might have been more than I could've handled.
1. I think my routine/ritual is pretty normal. I guess some people spend more than 5 minutes getting ready in the morning. No make up, and I usually do my hair at night so that it's either pretty in the morning, or ready to be in a ponytail.
2. My favorite things to read are Terry Pratchett novels. :-) Right now I'm reading Witches Abroad which has all kinds of goofy fairy-tale stuff in it. So irreverent, yet poignant.
3. The only thing I can think of at the moment is last year, when we kept bringing our increasingly ill kitty to the vet, about 50% of the time, our vet would just waive the fee. For the x-ray, the exam, whatever. Ultimately that vet came out to our house on a weeknight to put the kitty down. Later, we got a notification that the vet had donated to the humane society in my kitty's name. Such a kind woman. We recommend all our friends to our vet.
