I assume you are using a "newborn level" nipple? How much is your LO eating and how frequently? Increases in bottle amount should be gradual. Some people argue that a breastfeed baby never needs more than 4oz at a time, but my DD eventually worked herself up to 6oz of BM a bottle gradually over time and I feel fine that I gave her that much given her frequency of eating. More than 4oz for an 8 weeker does sound like too much to me. You could try doing smaller feedings more frequently too?
Yes we are using the smallest flow nipple. For the most part he eats 3-4oz every 2-3 hours. Sometimes though he wants to eat 4+oz almost every hour. I've noticed him spitting up a little more than normal which is why I'm concerned we are over feeding.
That sounds like he is comfort feeding vs. actually being hungry. I would try to comfort him another way, for example with a pacifier.

This happens with my 3 month old and it's often before bed. I feed him a 4 oz bottle (he's been on 4 oz at a feeding for about six weeks now). If he continues to be hungry I will get another bottle ready and feed him 0.5 to 1 oz a half hour or so and offer the pacifier, walk around, distract. He will scream for food until he pukes some nights. As much as it sucks having him cry for food, I have learned he really can't have it. EPing is tough.
