Hi. I am switching from the Bump to this community today. I could sure use some community support right now. I am unsure of my due date at this point because my doctors are conflicted about whether to use my date of my last period or my conception date. This is because my baby has been measuring small since the date of my last period may be wrong. Today I also had an ultrasound that showed my baby measuring 2 weeks behind. My amniotic fluid is low at 5 cm. I am scared and upset. Thoughts and prayers would be much appreciated.

I don't have any experience with this, but you're definitely in my T&Ps. I've heard some women say drink a lot of extra water can help with low fluid levels, but I don't know how true that is. Are your doctors just monitoring you extra now? Please keep us updated on this!!!
I don't have any personal experience, but I just wanted to say that I'm sending good thoughts your way. As hard as it may be, just try and keep positive.
Im so sorry. Have they put you on any restrictions, bed rest, etc? Maybe you just have a small baby... mine was IUGR and may be again. DS came out 5.9 lbs and dropped down to 5 before we left the hospital. It's rough I know, and makes you feel ashamed and guilty somehow even though it's not your fault. Try to hang in there and come up with a good plan of action!
Keep us updated on the situation and I'll keep you in my thoughts and prayers!
lezzie82 Im so sorry. Thank you for your response. It's nice to hear from someone who has experienced this too. I have been out on pelvic rest and light duty at work due to placenta previa. No bed rest yet. Did they put you on bed rest? I have always been a small bodied person, and my ultrasound tech who is small as well said she had a small baby with low amniotic fluid also. I do feel ashamed and guilty somehow even though it's not my fault. Any suggestions for a plan of action based on what you experienced? I don't really know what to do at this point and my mind is in such a whirlwind with all of this new information. Thanks!
I tried to fatten myself up... it really didn't make too much of a difference but in my mind it did... with Nestle Boost drinks. They have a shit ton of protein and carbs and everything your body needs in them. I drank two chocolate ones a day, they really aren't that bad. I choke some down now when I can.... but Ive been a lot sicker this time around.
I would try some protein drinks! And water, lots and lots of water if you can... I would take it easy, especially when you get around week 30. I would not do any heavy lifting, etc... simply because of the low amniotic fluid.
Try not to worry too much, as long as you're not overdoing it you will probably be fine! I would ask OB next appointment if there is anything specific you can do to help increase your fluid levels also!
I am feeling better. My doctor called me back and said the baby may not be measuring as far behind as we thought because my due date is still in flux due to abnormal periods. So, I'm waiting for her to call back and discuss further details. Also, I started on a high protein diet today. Tons of peanut butter for breakfast, lots of eggs, and basically a ton of calories in general. I know that increased caloric intake may not help, but it's worth a shot. Also, I'm drinking tons of water to get my fluid level up. Unfortunately this is making me pee every 30 minutes like clockwork. Oh well. I'm determined to make next next weeks ultrasound be better. How are you doing? Also, my sister talked about a friend who had similar issues and they did "bio profiling" to make sure the babies vital signs were normal. Have you ever heard of this? Is this a common thing or a special set of tests?
Glad to hear things are on the upswing! I'm interested to know about the profiling so I'll be keep an eye out.
I too have been eating and drinking more. With my issue possibly being blood flow related I doubt it will help. But in willing to do whatever, even if it's just in my head. Im still waiting to hear back on my labs for them to officially tell me what to do about the high folate and low vitamin d so I can ask if they could be contributing factors. I also wanna know what the purpose of the baby aspirin is for.
Guess I'll find out in 2 weeks via ultrasound if any of its helped.
