BUT what's her premise? Did she have to pay a deposit or something based on the amount of people they thought would come?

I feel sorry for her kid, because she just killed any chances of him having other kids at his birthday parties for years, if ever, because of her snatch move.

Um, no. And seriously threatening small claims court over roughly 30 bucks? Get over yourself.

I get why a parent would be annoyed if they paid for someone to be there and they didn't show up and they lost their money. That must get really old, really fast. But seriously? I invoicing the kid? Now he's going to be a pariah. And they're not going to get their money, especially not through small claims court. If they really couldn't let it go, they should've just called the parents directly. Don't get the kid involved in this!

At my DD's bday I had 4 no shows. It sucks because the place we rented was not cheap. I only invited the exact amount because the place was very explicit they would charge us for numbers over.
But that's the price of doing business,so to speak.

The invoice is ridiculous but, it also makes me wonder if something else has gone on with these families before, like he'd been invited to other parties and was a no show? It also seems weird that no one had any contact info for anyone. People are jerks.

It's nuts. You plan a party, you plan for the costs. I will be shocked if they wind up having to pay. Not to mention it's probably costing that family more to pursue this in small claims court than it would have to just let it go.

Lol that mother has issues. I would have laughed and thrown that invoice away.
