I put a bunch of YA fiction on hold after reading a list recommended ones to read. 4 came in all at once, so I have been reading a lot. Good thing the are easy reads I read Isla and the Happily Ever After, and I didn't care for it. Then I read Ugly Girls, which I did like. Now I am reading The Book of Unknown Americans which is really good. Last that I have checked out is Love Letters to the Dead. I am going to need more ideas after this my other holds I am way far in line so I got nothing to read when I am done! I am thinking no more YA for awhile What are you reading?

I need to make time for reading. After working, parenting and Parenting (aka posting here), I never take extra time to read for fun.
Recently I discovered Jessica George Day and read all of her books. They're all pretty quick, definitely YA, lighthearted and fun which is what I was needing with holiday stress and toddler tantrums. And my library carried them all in digital format so I didn't even have to go anywhere! She had better write more because she seems to share a very similar sense of humor with me.
Then I realized that my childhood favorite author Dianna Wynne Jones died a few years ago, but wrote a few more books since I last read any of hers. I'm currently on our library's waiting list for a few. My all time favorite was Howl's Moving Castle. I just finished reading a sort of sequel to it, House of Many Ways, which was cute, but I really loved some of the parts where the original characters made appearances because they were really, really relatable to my current life with toddler and silly husband

I recently read Lunch in Paris (I forget the author). It was delightful and the author included a bunch of recipes! I'm n to going to make any of the recipes (semi-fussy French food), but it was sill lots of fun to read.
I'm reading Wild by Cheryl Strayed for my book group. I tend to not do well with memoirs (no character development ), and even more I hate dumb people who don't realize how dumb it is to take on nature with no preparation --- so this book is really not for me, but I will trek on for the sake of my book group and because we meet down the pub, which makes it the best book group ever.
I am also reading Picture Perfect, by Jodi Picoult. I also have some negative feelings about her, but her books are quick reads and always entertaining -- (I read a lot of lit, so tend to get a bit judgy)
Excuse me for a minute while I try out some of those weird smileys on the list':

I'm reading Wolf Hall (historical fiction based around Thomas Cromwell). It's been sitting in my to-read pile forever and I'm mad at myself for waiting so long. It's really good! And the writing is pretty. It's the first book of a (I think) trilogy.
I just finished Longbourn by Jo Baker, which is basically Pride an Prejudice from the servants' point of view. Interesting story, but I feel like she missed the mark on the dialogue. It felt a bit too modern most of the time.
And after that I read The Bookstore by Deborah Meyler. Typical chic lit, but I enjoyed it.
Now working on Nineteen Minutes by Jodi Piccoult for a book club. First novel I've read by her, I feel like I'm so out of the loop on that one. ;-)
I love reading, but have been in a rut lately. I started the hobbit a few months ag, but never got really far.
I've started that book over a dozen time and never made it anywhere. My family has threatened to disown me as it is one of their favorites. Some families do not talk politics, we can not discuss the Hobbit (I love reading, but that book is the best way I've ever found to treat insomnia.)
I love LOTR. I read them all over about a two week period when I was in high school. I initially downloaded it while watching the second Hobbit movie, days after watching the first. I think it was too much hobbit!

Peter Jackson's version of the Hobbit would give anyone Tolkien redux. He destroyed everything that made that book great by trying to turn it into another LOTR.
I am getting into a lot of YA books lately. The Kiss of Deception, Stolen Songbird, I just finished Kresley Cole's Dead of Winter (book 3 in the Arcana Chronicles) and I am waiting to finish a new book I started so I can start reading Karen Marie Moning "Burned".... Mind you, that's not YA.

I also read If I Stay and Where She Went the other night (it was a late one). If you like tear-jerking YA novellas, I'd recommend them. I'd also recommend having both books on hand because you really will want to know the rest of the story.
I am horrible with starting and never finishing books if I don't like them. I usually google the end and call it a day I give it a hundred or so pages before I thrown in the towel.

I just started reading the Outlander series again, which is really rare for me. I almost never re-read books. Supposedly the series is going to start showing here this spring and I'm prepping for it (Although I doubt I'll watch it on TV- what fun is Jamie without a Scottish accent??)
Otherwise I'm reading various urban fantasy series. I'm almost up to the current Kate Daniels book from Ilona Andrews and enjoy them. Just started Karen Chance's series and I'm not quite sure about it yet.

DH got me an Audible subscription for Christmas that I haven't used yet. I have to figure out what to get with it. I'm currently reading (and almost done with) American Gods by Neil Gaiman. I really like it, but it certainly isn't YA.

I finished the latest in Jana Deleon's Miss Fortune series and Jenna Bennett's murder mystery series about the realtor. I'm trudging through This Side of Paradise by F Scott Fitzgerald, after reading The Great Gatsby. This Side of Paradise is a bit of a weird read, but I'd like to finish it.

Anything Neil Gaiman reads on Audible is AMAZING! He reads his own works and is so great at it. I've listened to Graveyard Book and Neverwhere and both are great. A good narrator can really make or break a book. I've got a list of favorite narrators now and sometimes download a book just to hear them. Also check out there performed classics if you like that kind of thing. I loved Claire Danes reading A Handmaid's tale and Jake Gyllanhaal's Great Gatsby....
I don't know what you like to read, but if you want any recommendations let me know. I love Audible!

I am currently reading "The Magicians." It's good so far, but I am not very far into it. I just finished the latest Shopaholic book; I love the whole series because it's easy, fun reading.

I'm reading "Quiet: The Power of Introverts in a World That Can't Stop Talking" by Susan Cain. I am almost finished with it, so after that I have "The Bee Eater" (Michelle Rhee's biography) by Richard Whitmire and "Parenting Without Borders" by Christine Gross-Loh.
