Has anyone else noticed a shift in favorite foods pp? My diet is so different now, and I'm curious if it's just because I spent almost 10 months throwing up everything I ate and have made negative associations with former favorite/regular foods, or if it's a hormonal thing?
I am not able to handle fried foods as well, but I think that is from not going out to eat as much after DS was born. I eat oatmeal with flaxseed for breakfast for my supply. I got on an almond milk kick during pregnancy for the increased calcium and that has stuck.
I definitely have more of a sweet tooth than I used to. I pretty infrequently ate dessert before I was pregnant, then all hell broke loose during pregnancy, and now a meal doesn't seem complete without a couple cookies. I'm working on changing that (or at least making sure the meal is nutritious and balanced).
Yes!!! I used to be an ice cream junkie. I haven't had any since before LO was born, but I do want all the cookies!
My preferences changed during pregnancy. I was a vegetarian for 5 years and now I eat meat. For me though, after pregnancy vegetables seemed appealing again(and everything I used to eat) so I'm glad for that!
I was a vegetarian, too, and started eating meat when I got pregnant.
Eta: I'm glad to be able to eat veggies again, too. Veggies and fruit did not go over well during pregnancy.
Something about BFing makes me crave chocolate especially in the first few months...it's happened after both pregnancies. Also, some of my aversions still linger. I still can't stand fresh basil or boiled peanuts after having DS and that was over 3 years ago. Cooked sugar snap peas are my lingering aversion from this last pg.

I also have more of a sweet tooth even though I've never had one and hated sweets throughout pregnancy. I also don't tolerate fried foods well.
But the hardest one is that I've lost my love of wine. I can have a small glass here and there but it just doesn't appeal to me anymore. Hoping it comes back soon!

This started for me after i had my first. I used to love wine, had a serious aversion while pregnant, and now 5 years later still don't really like it.

I stayed vegan during pregnancy but struggled first tri with aversion to green leafy vegetables (which I typically love.) After that I ate everything as usual but with more carbs. 2nd and 3rd tri every single day without fail I would wake up around 4am, eat cereal with my cat, and then go back to sleep. I gained 50 lbs. LO is a girl.
I stayed vegetarian my whole pregnancy, but have been one for 21 years. I did get used to eating pretty unhealthy and developed tastes for unhealthy things that I didn't eat before and that hasn't gone away.

happyfeet9 I also lost my love of wine! It's probably a good thing...
I used to be a very picky eater and now I pretty much eat anything. I hated beans my whole life and now I sorta like them. It's actually really nice to be ok eating whatever!
I still want chocolate all the time!I was never like that before pregnancy.
This is me. I didn't even like chocolate pre pregnancy. Now I have gone out twice to buy myself a box of chocolates because I was craving them. I starting limiting myself to one a day though because the darn boxes are so expensive I can't afford to eat more.

Sounds like me almost to a T! I eat fish and dairy though.

Me too! I was vegetarian for over 3 years until pregnancy.. and meat didn't make me sick (but veggies did, ugh). I'm still eating meat, not sure how to get back to my old vegetarian diet.
I have come to realize over the years that I have a really complicated relationship with sugar, specifically that I tend not to be good at moderating myself with it. When I have a slice of cake, I don't feel like "yum, good cake. Moving on" I feel like "MOAR CAKE". That starts a cycle where I'm eating way more sweets than I should and ends with bags of fun sized chocolate bars in my desk at work. For almost a decade I was successful in avoiding sugar completely, but that's a really rigid and difficult way to live. Plus, I love sweets so it becomes all to easy for me to justify going overboard on sugar using the "life's too short/iIt's a month where there's a holiday/ it's the afternoon on a day that ends with y" excuse. I suspect I'll always struggle with this. I feel better (and, frankly, look better) when I'm on the wagon.......but I always find my way back off
I do think sugar has some addictive qualities. The more often I eat it, the more I crave it. Perhaps that's why I have such a sweet tooth now. I almost completely gave up moderating my intake during pregnancy (which I can't say I regret, actually. It was glorious!) Now, I'm having to retrain my palate. It's really difficult.
If I remember correctly, there was a study conducted proving that sugar is addictive. I believe the claim was that it is as addictive as cocaine! Brain scans showed the same reaction for sugar and cocaine. Crazy thought!
