Hello SO and I are currently engaged. I have a 3-almost-4-year-old who lives part time with us and part time with her dad. We hope to have a baby or two of our own, but won't be hopping on that train for about two years. We just started to talk seriously about reciprocal IVF (I would carry, SO's eggs), which would be exciting, especially because SO is an adoptee and does not have a relationship with any genetically connected relatives.
Right now, I'm in the process of becoming a surrogate for a couple of dads I know. We were lucky to get pregnant earlier this year, but unfortunately lost the baby. Right now we're all recovering from the loss but will be back TTC when I'm cleared medically and when we're ready emotionally.
That's the family in a nutshell! I'm so happy to have found this board and to be getting to know all of you better.
I'm Esquette and I am not shy! In fact, I'm a bit obnoxious. I'm a high school special education teacher (I work with high schoolers... of course I'm a little obnoxious) and my Sweetie is a grad student, getting her PhD in Biochemistry. Only 4 years to go! We've been together for 8 years, and finally got married in September of 2014.
We're planning our first round of TTC in early June! Sweetie has a strong aversion to the idea of being pregnant, and it's something I've always wanted, so it'll be my eggs and my basket. We may adopt thereafter, or if my lonely ovary doesn't want to cooperate.
ETA: More details!
Here's me:
We have two kitties. One is named Sissy. She's 16 years old, and we've had her since she was 10. We adore her.
This is Mildred. We got her last year. She's hysterical and grumpy.
My wife EV and I met in college, moved in together in 2000 and have been married for 10+ years. We have one 5 month old Chocolate lab puppy named Sienna and two boys using my eggs and a known donor. Kaden is nearly 3 and Owen turns 1 in a couple of weeks. We live in the San Francisco Bay Area, and before having kids we loved to travel, snorkel and scuba dive, lots of outdoorsy activities like white water rafting and hiking. Now we spend our days taking kid friendly hikes, going to playground, and reading "Dog Go Dog". I wouldn't trade it for the world though. ;-) Despite how hectic life is with two toddlers we're trying for #3 soon using my wifes eggs FX FX and my "basket". My guess is we'll try this Fall, but if medical circumstances tell us that sooner would be better we're open to that too. EV is an IT consultant and I own a start up catering company and am working on several other start up ventures on the side. Right now we both work from home.
Looks like a good time to jump in... I was on the other board and participated in the TTC check-in. I've been lurking since the great changeover. Unfortunately we are STILL TTC -- I'll post separately about our newest conundrum on the main board shortly.
So who are we?
Wife and I have been together 4.5 years, married 2. I'm 37, she's 30. I'm from the US, she's Scottish and we live in the UK. I'm a social scientist, she's a lawyer. (We've basically analysed the TTC process to death as a result.) We have one cat who we dote over.
We both want to carry but I will go first. Our TTC journey thus far includes 5 at-home ICIs with frozen donor sperm and 3 unmedicated IUIs at a clinic that has since closed. (Yes, some of you might remember the saga of our local health service wanting to make all the children of same-sex couples in our city related to one another... Idiots.) Anyway, happy to be back here as we've since visited Denmark (World's #1 sperm exporter -- ha) and been recommended IVF for my low AMH, low antral follicle count and a host of other signs that point to DO THIS NOW.
DW and I met in college and have been married for just over 10 years. We live in upstate NY. Before we settled, we moved around a lot, lived in Boston and in CA for awhile. We are both runners and endurance athletes. These activities have taken a back seat since Olivia was born nearly 9 months ago. DW carried Olivia and we are looking to start TTC #2 in the next few months. DW is working part time right now and may be a SAHM if I can get a better job in the next few months. We are both physical therapists.
My wife and I have been together over 10 years now, married 2 legally. We have two dogs and a cat that keep us entertained! We love to travel and see new places whenever we can but we both work way too much! Wife is in HR and I work in Environmental.
We are still working on TTC. We went straight to reciprocal IVF for lots of reasons, that was a fail- see siggy. We're now trying some IUI's and we'll see what happens next.
K and I met as a result of Otalia (anyone?) and have been together 6 years this fall and have been married for 10 months. I'm 31, she's 29 and while I'm older I'm also the one who REALLY wanted to be pregnant. As of right now, she's not interested. SO - we knew we wanted to start trying right after the wedding and with luck on our side got pregnant on our second IUI using an unknown, open ID donor. Aside from our pet family - Bear (8 year old Manx cat), Ninja (5 year old rescue) and our baby Chief (4 year old German Shepherd) we've got 2 nephews (my brothers kids) and a niece (her sisters kid) and they've been our whole world - until now. Neither of us is planning on taking a full mat/parental leave but working from home - I'm in Marketing and shes in Insurance. We'll see how solid that plan stays once our boy arrives in June
I am K and my wife is J. We also met in college and have been together for 10.5 years. We got married in August 2012, so we are coming up on our 3 year wedding anniversary. We have a puppy dog named Reese - she is a Pomeranian terrier mix. She is 6 years old, but still looks and acts like a puppy. We also have a 10.5 month old son named William who we adore beyond belief. I carried William, and we conceived via a fresh IVF cycle following 5 failed IUI cycles. We have 10 embryos in the freezer, and we are currently in the middle of an FET cycle to try and conceive #2 (I will be carrying again).
J is a SAHM, and I work a corporate job in the pharmaceutical industry. We live in Philadelphia, and we own a small 200 year old historical home that we have totally rehabbed in the last 5 years. We hope to move at some point after baby #2, but before baby #3. We would ideally like to have 3-4 kiddos in total. I will likely carry them all with our remaining frozen embryos, unless circumstances change.
My wife and I have been together for over 12 years. We have a 15 month old son who she carried via reciprocal IVF after 12 IUI's and 3 IVF cycles.
I'm currently 22 weeks pregnant with our second, due in August. We used left over embroyos we had for this pregnancy. We are 98% sure we're done at 2. If we were to have a third my wife would carry again.
I work part-time and am a SAHM the rest of the week.
My partner is A; she's 27, Swedish-Finnish and a chemical engineer. I'm 31, Scottish and a wave power engineer and I'm nine weeks pregnant with our first after 3 IUIs. We have actually known each other for 11 years, but have only been together for 4, and we live in Stockholm in Sweden and probably will do for the foreseeable future, though Germany is also on the cards.
A has two six year old cats named Nott and Dagr, I have a 18 year old corn snake named Cara, and two five year old bearded dragons, Maisie and Molly.
Right now we are just concentrating on getting ready for this LO, but we would ideally like two more. We are also thinking about getting married in the next few years, and A is thinking about going back to university to become a chemistry teacher.
I'm Esquette and I am not shy! In fact, I'm a bit obnoxious. This is Mildred. We got her last year. She's hysterical and grumpy.
My partner manada and I have been together for a little over 4 years and have been married for almost two. We met through online dating and it was basically love at second date.
We have a 90 pound hound mix named Frannie and a short haired black and white cat named Lulah.
M has diminished ovarian reserve and I have stage 4 endometriosis. I had to have both Fallopian tubes removed. We did 7 unsuccessful IUIs with M before moving to partner IVF. We used my eggs and open ID donor sperm. We got three day 3 embryos. We transferred two to M's uterus and she carried our twin daughters Tavin and Casey to 21 weeks when they were born prematurely last June and did not live.
We are currently 20 weeks pregnant from the third embryo from that IVF cycle and I'm carrying. If things go well, we are due at the beginning of September.
ETA; major typo on my part! We are due at the beginning of September not June. Cook, baby, cook! Apparently I was getting us confused with megd893
****loss and living child discussed***** We're queer. I'm 34, have severe stage 4 endo, and both fallopian tubes are gone. My love ("Manada" 33) was diagnosed with diminished ovarian reserve. We did Partner IVF (my eggs, her uterus). We lost our twins Tav.in and Ca.sey at 21 weeks gestation.
I'm J and my partner is S. We've been together for over 10 years, and are looking forward to our 5 year wedding anniversary in June.
We have an awesome dog-cat (cat who acts like a dog), Nigel, who is 5 years old. We also have a 3 year old Doberman, Duncan, who is simultaneously a total love, and also a very real challenge. He is aggressive towards humans, but loooooooves the company of other animals. Our lives very much revolve around his needs and keeping him, and those around him, safe.
After a year-long journey through TTC which included 4 IUIs and a Myomectomy surgery, I conceived our son G. He was born in March of '13, so he's a little over 2 years old now. I am now also pregnant with our second son (a far easier journey, conceived on the first IUI) who is due in August. They share the same WTBK donor and we are excited for them to have each other as they grow and navigate life in our crazy family.
We live in the Midwest, but neither of us grew up here. So while we are serial monogamists when it comes to work (S has been employed at the same University for over 20 years, and I am at only my 3rd employer in 17 years in the work force), we don't know that we will always live here. Lots to look forward to in the future!
I'm here often, and post sporadically. Right now I'm desperately looking for (and finding here) advice and comradery associated with raising a toddler. Pretty soon I'm sure I'll be desperate for tips on handling 2 littles at once.
I'm Rosieelk, but my name is actually Elke. I'm 32, German and an engineer. I've been been my wife Erika, who's 34, Danish and a law translator, for 12 years. We entered into a civil partnership in the Scotland in 2007, and then got legally married in Denmark in July of 2012, though the marriage isn't recognised here in Germany.
We started TTCing in November 2013, an at home insemination with an unknown donor, and though that was successful, we lost our child at 10 weeks. We took a TTC break, and then returned doing at home inseminations in August, and had another three at home inseminations; the last one in November was successful, and I'm now 25 weeks pregnant, due on August second, which would be the anniversary of our civil partnership. We've done a bit of research, and we decided to ask to get permission to give birth in Denmark so my wife would get to go on the birth certificate; we got that permission last month.
My wife's eleven year old french bulldog Björn (yes, she called her dog Bear) died a couple of months ago, but we are thinking of getting another one, hopefully one that will like me this time (Björn never did).
As for the future, once LO is born, Erika is going to be a SAHM for the first two years anyway, possibly more. We would like at least one more child, possibly two, though we may more to Denmark before a second comes along.

Hi!! I'm 32 years old and C and I have been together for 10 years and are not married; we are raising one awesome 13 year old son together (seriously....he's a mini me but way cooler and way taller). We plan to get married when we're done growing our family so that all of our children can be part of the big day.
We're actively TTC and are on our 5th IUI....Hopefully I'm pregnant right now. I should know any day now. We're also using an unknown, OpenID donor. I loved being pregnant the first time around and C is really not really into the idea of being pregnant herself, so the choice was easy.
Edited....
Because I'm am 32 NOT 33. Not that there's anything wrong with 33 I'm just not there yet.
My name is Jesse and my DH is Kevin. We are pregnant though independent traditional surrogacy. Our DS is due 7/19 and I can not even tell you how excited we're getting!!! We also have cat named Joplin, a bird named Bird (so weird - DH's idea lol) and now 4 chickens! We're a mini-farm in the making. DH and I have been together for 5 years and married for 1 year on May 1st. So happy to be part of this board... it's helped me maintain my standard level of insanity a number of times.
ETA: I forgot our perfessions - Kevin is a preschool teacher, I work in student loan banking and a mental health non-profit.

We will be celebrating 10 years on May 1st! Awesome day!

is mildrid himalayan?
Short answer: Yes!
Crazy cat lady answer: A flame point himalayan, in fact. We don't normally go in for fancy breeds, but we saw her at the humane society and we just loved her. She's a behavior kid: she's been to the humane society 3 times. (when I take her to the vet and she cries, I worry that she thinks we are taking her to the humane society.) She still has to live in our guest room because she hates Sissy with a fire-y passion. We love her.
I'm Amber my partner is Reva we have been together for 4 1/2 years. We met online and after doing the long distance thing for awhile I finally convinced R to pack up in move to MA. We started TTC in September of 2013 through un-medicated IUIs and to my surprise I got pregnant on our second attempt with a little girl. My waters broke when I was 19w pregnant and Brynlee Madeline was born to young to live in the big scary world on Feb. 20, 2014. We had one vile of sperm left from the same donor and decided to give it a shot after taking time off to heal both emotionally and physically and conceived Emerson who was born on March 4th 2015 in June of 2014.
We also have two dogs (Oliver and Xander) and two cats (Nala and Jasmine) the amount of animal hair in our house will be the death of me. I hope to convince R to try for number 2 in the future but for the time being we are one in done so I see more animals in our future if this is the case.
I am a frequent lurker but not always that active of a poster. I also have horrible grammar and normally don't proofread before I post. Sorry for this in advance.
I'm S and my wife is L. We have two dogs, a black lab and black lab mix.
We have a 14 month old that was conceived after 5 IUIs, the last medicated.
We are in the process if doing reciprocal IVF. We finished the Fresh ET and ER in the last few weeks. We found out today we have a BFN. So we are a little bummed but we have 7 frozen embryos. So hopefully one will stick in the next few months.
Professionally I am currently a SAHM and have a legal and nursing background. L is also in medical profession.
We both live in Midwest and I am from there. L is from the South. She has lived on The East coast and I used to live in LA but we both ended up in Midwest close to family , which is great with a kiddo. But we sometimes dream of moving to Colorado or the Pacific Northwest.

My wife and I have been together almost 9 years, married almost 7. After trying to conceive since July 2014, we finally stopped with the IUI's and went to IVF in Feb 2015. I became pregnant and I am almost 3 months along now. This is our first child for both of us and we are super excited. Below is a pictures of our dogs, Sophia Pickles (Cocker Spaniel) she just turned 9 two days ago and Rudi Pearl (Pug) she turns 11 on May 2:)
