CP/BTDT - membrane stripping

First two times in clinic by my midwife, no. Third time in hospital by other midwife who I begged to try again instead of pitocin, yes.

I had it done twice. 39w then at 40w. I went into labor the night after the 2nd try.

I had it done several times with my first. It didn't work and I was induced at 41 weeks. With my second, I had my membranes stripped at 39 weeks and went into labor the next day.

I think your body has to be somewhat ready for it to work.

I have read it is more effective if you're already dilated/effaced. I have the option of both a cervical check and membrane stripping at 39 weeks and will try it so hopefully it works!

I don't think it's even possible without being dilated. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

From what I just read it looks like you're right. Well then I'm not sure what its effectiveness depends on!

I voted yes. Baby 1-It was on my due date and I was already 4cm. Labor started about 36 hours later. It's very possible labor would have started without the stripping but I asked for it anyway. My OB with baby 2 didn't do them. This time I will ask for it f I am dilated 3 or more and past due.

Nope. Had it done 2 days before my due date (I was 3cm and fully effaced) and was still induced the day after (due date). If anything though, I'll did lose my MP the night following....

I had it done 2 or 3 times for my last pregnancy and I think it worked the last time because labor started 2 hours later. I agree with others who have said your body probably needs to be somewhat ready to begin with.

It worked for me! I had them stripped around 5 on Tuesday and yesterday about 3 labor started. I had her this morning at 4:27.

I don't remember it being terribly painful, though it was uncomfortable for a second. I did feel an achy, crampy kind of soreness feeling that night though. My OB said that would be a normal result and sent me home with orders to relax, rest and keep my feet up the rest of the day/evening (per usual late term advice).
