Hey ladies! I was hoping you could all help me out a bit.
My SIL just announced she pregnant is coincidentally due dec 2015. Her and my MIL are asking me to save all the twins clothes until she finds out the sexy of the baby. But I was thinking about it today and I am wondering how Many sizes will actually line up. Since they were born 8 weeks early they are still on the small side. They are still in 3 month clothing and weighed 10 and 11lbs at their 4 month check up (6 month appt is in a week). I am guessing they will be in 6 month clothes this summer. I don't mind saving their clothes but I was just curious about how many sizes will actually line up seasonally for a full term baby.
Which brings me to my question... What sizes are you LOs currently wearing and what size do you think they will be this summer?
My lo is 18 lbs. his 6-9 mo sleepers from carters still fit but are a little snug. His rompers and onesies I bout for this summer are 12 mo. A tiny bit big but won't be for long. My lo is a little on the big side though.

My twins are 17.5 pounds at about 4.5 months and have been wearing 9 month sleepers and 6-9 month onsies and pants. I'm assuming by summer they'll be in 9-12 month clothes. I think every baby is different, some bigger some smaller. So it may be hard to guess what sizes she will need for each season too.

Even at 12 lbs 6 oz at 4.5 months, LO is wearing 9 month onesies and sleepers because she's so long. You really won't know how the baby will grow until, well, it grows. My two kids (not twins) started out 1.5 lbs different at birth but were about the same measurements at 4 months. The first grew faster than my second. Just keep the clothes and maybe they'll work, maybe they won't. You also don't know what the weather will be. I live in a land of 4 seasons and winter is hanging around far too long so I've needed long sleeves longer than I anticipated. I've found it beneficial to have clothes for all seasons in all sizes just in case. I'm sure any clothes you can let SIL have/borrow will be much appreciated so she has options.
My LO was 16 lbs 13 oz at her 4 month check up 3 weeks ago (I know she's over 17 now, maybe closer to 18, but I haven't weighed her). She's in 6-9 month stuff (and 9 month Carters stuff). I don't think it will be long until she's in the 9- 12 month clothes
My little guy is in 6-9 month clothes and I just spent a small fortune setting up his 12 month wardrobe. He definitely isn't getting too heavy for these yet but he is very close to being too long. I think we will probably be switching in a few weeks.
My girl wears 3-6 month clothes. She is almost 13 lbs at 5 months. I expect her to fit in most of these clothes for a while since her weight gain has slowed down. She is starting to outgrow her 3-6 mo sleepers, but I shrunk them in the dryer.
My little guy is in 3 months and 3-6 months. The 3 month pants are getting a bit short though. He weighed around 11 lbs at his appointment in March. He will be going in for his 4 month recheck in a few weeks. He has been pretty consistent wearing clothes that coincede with his age.

LO is 4.5 months old, weighs 15lb 10.5oz. She's currently in 3-6 and 6 month clothes, but the 6-9 and 9 months are also starting to fit (and she's hulking out of some of her smaller 3-6 stuff).
I bought some summer dresses for her in 12 months.
Even if some stuff was still winter stuff for your boys and her boy is in lighter clothes, the sleepers will still work. Long sleeves might work. Where I live, it's chilly in the morning, yesterday was 38, but by the afternoon it was 70. She needed long sleeve in the morning and short in the afternoon. Plus she spits up so we change her outfit frequently.
My LO weighs about 15 1/2 pounds at 5 months of age. Right now he is in 6 month clothes and I anticipate 9 months for the summer. He is my big baby though. My others were much smaller and were wearing 3 month clothes at this age. They were all full term. In fact this LO got some 6 month summer clothes for Christmas because family just assumed he would be small like my other kids. I had to return those clothes.
We are wearing 9-12 month. Emmett is 17+ pounds and 28.5 inches. He's very tall. I bought 12 month shorts and am hoping they fit through the summer. That being said, my DD fit her age size through now. And she's 2. So it will really depend on the baby. My 2 year old is only 8 inches taller and 10 pounds heavier than my almost 5 month old
Babygirl is 13 lbs 8 oz and wears a mix. Some clothes it is 3-6 months (though she has almost out grown all of those length wise) others are 6 months (especially sleepers). I'd save them and see. Each kid is different some grow long and thin others get really chubby. Onesies, sleepers, shirts will all work. Pants will work at some point.
I think what I will do since we are tight on storage is still save everything butjust take it right to her when they outgrow it. I had been getting rid of pretty much everything as they were done with it. We are def (DH got snipped) done on the baby frontt. Thank you all for your input
I would still save them. Like @kc295905 said, the baby may wear them a little earlier than your babies did. Plus for things, especially sleepers and pants, there's more wiggle room since they can be used in multiple seasons.
DD just turned 4 mos and still wears some 3 mo. and some 3-6 mos. She is on the small side though, 12.5 lbs and 23 in.

If you are tight on storage then she should definitely be the one to store them.
Sounds like those clothes might be too small. My twins are 5 months and are approx. 13.5 and 17 lbs, and both are short. The little one just outgrew 3 month clothes and the big one is into 9 months. It depends on the brand. some of the 9 month stuff will be too small for the big one soon because they fit small. On the other hand he has some 6 month sleepers that have a lot of length left but are too narrow for this chunker. I expect they'll be in a smattering of 6-12 month clothes for the summer. Eta: I mean season specific clothes might be too small. Sleepers and onesies are probably fine.
rayray007, how are you and your babies? My little guy I think has finally caught up to his sister I think. I expect them to be pretty close to each other weight wise at their next appointment.
I am pretty skeptical about too many of the clothes fitting, but if she is willing to store them I am fine with it
corinne, I got a huge bag of hand me downs from our neighbor and it was all girls summre 6 month stuff, so should be perfect for DD. I definitely know what you mean about it being nice on the budget.

We're good. They have a pretty good routine which makes life a little easier. They take turns though being poor sleepers at night. My guys were born 1 lb 15 oz apart so I don't really expect them to ever be the same size. It makes buying clothes hard bc I Iike to buy clearance stuff a year ahead but I just don't know what size they'll be.
DD1 was born in summer and DD2 in winter, so far DD2 has exclusively worn clothing her sister wore and it's worked out fine. She is in 6-9 month clothing and is ~60th percentile. We'll see how it works this summer, but she can wear onesies without the sweatpants her sister wore in the winter at the same age.

My guy was 8 weeks early too and just had his 6 mo apt today. He weighed 16lbs 14oz! Amazing how fast he chunked up! He's currently in 3-6mo clothes and they fit just fine. A lot of charts say he should be in the next size up soon but 3-6m clothes are still pretty roomy on him.
I was wondering about "season appropriate" clothing as well, but for the most part, onesies and sleepers don't go out of season. I have very few sweaters or warm flannel clothing for LO. For each age, I have a surplus of short and long sleeved onesies, plus the thin sweatpants could be used year round.
That said, LO is 27" and 17lbs. We just moved up to 9 month clothing and he will be 5 months in one week.

Isn't it crazy to see how far they have come from the tiny babies they were at birth? Mine are 6 months today and it blows my mind!
