What was wrong with it?

What did you name it?

How did you kill it?

My first car was a 1987 Nissan Pulsar - This picture isn't my car, but mine was the same color and had matching gold rims. Hot shit!

Actually know, it was pretty embarrassing, but I loved the car anyway. What's not to love about a gold car with T-tops! Ha!

My friend backed into me once, and the arm on the flip-up headlights broke. So I was a pediddle until I hit 50 mph and then the second headlight would get enough wind speed to lift and hold it up.

It went through a quart of oil a week. One day, I rushed from high school to home and had to rush right out to go to work. I popped the hood to put oil in, but then I had to pee, so I ran inside, and soon forgot about the hood. Jumped back in my car and left for work. I hit 60 mph on the highway and the hood flipped up and ripped off my car cartwheeling down the highway. I'm so lucky no one was behind me at 3pm on a Thursday.

That is how my car died.

My first car was a Chevy Prizm. Not the car pictured but it's the same type except it was green!

The freakin car would stall for no reason. For like a year until my dad finally fixed it. Thankfully it only stalled when I first started it and tried driving away.
His name was Bruce and I was very attached. My sister and brother both used it before me and then I got to keep it until it died.

Soo how it died.. I rear ended my boyfriends (now DH) truck. YUP!! We were driving to our college classes getting on the interstate. The car in front of him slammed on her breaks to a complete stop for NO reason... Just slammed on her breaks.. while I was head checking. Next thing I knew my car was crushed up into the back of his truck. I hit him so hard he hit the bitch in front who caused the accident.
Such a sad day! Bruce was totaled! I still get excited every time I see one!

Also not the actual vehicle, but it looked like this, color splash and all.
There was nothing wrong with it. It's a jeep. I kept the top off as much as possible, so it got rained on some.
It didn't have a name. I've never named vehicles.
It didn't die. It got traded in for a newer one.

I was given an 88 Crown Victoria to drive while in high school by my grandparents. I had to share it with my younger sister since we were only a grade apart. We called it "The Tank". It was a beast of a car but the smoothest riding thing you ever sat in. All of our friends wanted to ride in it because we could pack like 10 kids in there at a time.

My sister actually hit our house at the time with it. It didn't break the car or the house but it definitely rattled everything. We ran into everything in that car just to see if it could take the damage.

My dad ended up donating it to the Salvation Army for a tax right off after my sister got her Celica and I was always with my boyfriend in his truck.

I thought it was cool. I loved the T-tops. My friends and I would ride with the top off and heat on. No name. It had a crazy amount of miles on it and eventually when I went to college I donated it and bought a new car.

My first car was an 88 Crown Vic station wagon. It blew up into a ball of fire the morning of homecoming senior year. My dad was driving it at the time. He took it to the gas station to fill it up for me (I was driving a large group of people since I had the largest car), and flames started coming out of the hood when he was parked at the pump. He jumped back in and drove it away from the pump. The gas station attendant emptied a whole fire extinguisher on it, but it continued to burn. A fire truck had to come and put it out.

Wait, I might be misremembering. My first car was an 88 oldsmobile station wagon, and it blew up. My second car was a woody station wagon (I got everyone's hand me downs) a 1990 Ford, I think that was the Crown Vic? I drove that one into the ground, all over the eastern seaboard. It finally died (transmission) 8 years after I got it.

I'm really terrible at paying attention to cars. I was at a dinner party a couple of years ago, very posh, a mix a medical doctors and PhDs, and my car at the time had just died and we had gotten a new one. Someone at the party asked me, "What was your last car?" I completely blanked. "Blue, and kind of round-y" was all I could say. *face palm*

It was a green Dodge Duster nicknamed "The Green Monster" and was decorated inside with a ton of Red Sox memorabilia.

What did you name it? I didn't name it. It was just the bug.

How did you kill it? I traded it in for my Pontiac G6.

What was wrong with it? Passenger door wouldn't unlock from the inside. Every morning & afternoon, I'd have to unlock my door and then toss my keys over the roof to my brother so he could unlock his door.

What did you name it? Never did!

How did you kill it? You know, I can't even remember. When I went to college, my parents bought me a Mitsubishi Eclipse. I think my dad eventfully sold/gave the LeBaron to a local mechanic to use for parts.

It's just had close to 1k of repairs for various wheel-related issues. It got badly dented during a freak hail storm last year and had to have several new panels. It's a Prius so has about as much acceleration as if it were powered by a hamster wheel. On the highway once, a tyre exploded but thankfully it had a warning flash up about tyre pressure so I was able to stop before damaging the rims. I love it.

I haven't killed it but it's being rehomed in the next month or so because we're moving overseas. It's going to H's uncle so I know it will be well cared for and I can visit sometimes to see how it's getting on.

What do you mean? I passed my test about 7 years ago then didn't bother driving at all for a couple of years because cars are so expensive and public transport is way better in the UK.  
I suppose I had a lot longer to decide what I wanted to get and put money away for it than people usually do.

I think the difference is being in the UK compared to the US. In the US, most teenagers get their licence at 16 years old and then get a crappy car.  Unless you're in a big metro area, there isnt much public transit, so driving is a necessity.

My husband has a theory about Priuses. Essentially, don't get behind one because the driver is always shitty.

1992 Ford Tempo. Ick.

What was wrong with it?
I don't think anything was wrong with it, but to me it was just ugly. I don't like all-white cars now because of how ugly I thought this one was! (But I appreciated it enough as a set of wheels at the time.)


What did you name it?
I don't name my cars. So it was just the Tempo.

How did you kill it?
I didn't, but I sold it very cheaply to my aunt when I got my 2002 Honda CR-V. My aunt still has it.

My first car is the same as my current car. *embarrassed* But only for another month or so (!!!).

I'll miss her. She's been good to me. I was only meant to have it for 2 years...10 years later...she's earned her retirement. Though I'm pretty certain she could go for another 100K miles. I'm just not going to put the money into that, though.

My first car was an 02 Subaru outback. It was the car I learned how to drive in and then I bought it off of my dad in high school after I got my license. His name is Aladdin but I called him Al for short.

This car was my baby before my real baby. I'm very sentimental about him. Nothing wrong with him in the slightest. I overlook the crack in the windshield, faulty cruise control, torn speaker cover, broken trunk lever, dinged up bumper, and cracked headlight plastic.

We decided that it was time just at the end of this year. I finally got a new car...another Subaru though. We sold Al to my sister in law but she broke him within days and now he's in the shop.

I took a farewell photo with him.

I win the oldest car award so far!! 1982 Buick Skyhawk. She was called "Uic" (You-iss) since the B and the K had fallen off the back. Man, I uglied that car up to be "cool". I had handcuffs hanging off the rearview mirror (why my mom let this happen, I don't know), the inside top was falling down so I push-pinned it in place, and more. She ran pretty well for me, and I moved on to my Mom's old car (Pontiac LeMans - who is old enough to remember automatic seatbelts??). My older brother took her over and she was dead within 6 months. Loser.

What a beaut.

I tried to improve it which went well at first, but the intake manifold started to leak and I didn't get a chance to fix it before going away to college, my mom got fed up with it in the garage and made me sell it.

I wish I could have found a way to keep it, cars like this are so hard to find now without spending a fortune.

First had my dad's 1st midlife crisis 1996 T top camaro...but my dad wised up and thought it had to much power so he traded it in for ....




1998 Chrysler Sebring Coupe

I thought this was still sporty, I had a had enough small fender benders that I think my dad made the right call.

Only had 2 doors which I loved at first but hated at the end because I also had to pick up my brother and sister from school and there were always fights over which one would have to climb to the back. It had dark grey "leather" and I swear I it gave me 1st degree burns when I wore shorts in the summer.

I never named my cars.

Pics aren't mine but my cars looked identical.
