Fussy period for Leap 6: Categories starts at around 33 weeks after the due date. Signs are frequently crabby, cheerful on moment and crying the next, clingy, wants you to keep them busy, is more shy, wants closer physical contact, sleeps poorly, seems to have nightmares, loses appetite, babbles less, is less lively, sometimes just sits quietly and looks absent, get mad during diaper changes, sucks thumb more often, wants cuddly toys more than usual, acts more babyish, such as needing to be rocked to sleep again.
DD was acting just like this a couple of weeks ago, but she's only 30 weeks now, 29 by due date. Am I in for another few weeks of fussiness soon or is it possible that was it?
Oh I would say we are here or getting here. DD is 31 weeks ... very clingy, I have had to rock her to sleep the last 2 nights, napping less and so much more cuddely/wanting to be closer. I am enjoying the cuddles though, I told H there will come a day she doesn't want me near her so I want to soak this up.
Yeah, DS is 32.5 weeks and we are right up in it. Crabby, clingy, shy, nightmares, restless sleeping, loss of appetite, less lively, closer contact, hates diaper changes, more babyish, all of it. It suuuuuuucks, minus the snuggles. Though DS pinches while he snuggles so it's not as much fun.
DD is 33 (but she was 3.5 weeks early) and this is definitely her for the last week. Last night we saw the daycare lady's girls at the store and they were goofing off and DD was just staring at them
I can't put her down for anything she loses it. Then shes in our bed, so I try to push her to the middle and she puts her arms and legs out so she's still touching me WHILE I push her and then rolls back into me. It's futile...
DS is definitely going through that leap now (he'll be 8 months on Saturday). He'll only sleep if I'm rocking him and he can snuggle his blanket. And as soon as he falls asleep and I put him down, he's grabbing my hand again to touch him. He also absolutely loathes me putting him in his car seat now. He's fine once he's in it, but he screams, stands, and arches his back the whole time I try to strap him in. It sounds like I'm killing him.

needing to be rocked to sleep again never stopped.
Oh that sucks, no pinches! I have a feeling this is going to get worse. Bracing myself. I just hope it isn't as bad as month 4 was. That was a rough one for us. It is so crazy to see the changes they go through now, the last 2-3 weeks have been crazy
I have bruises on my upper arms from his pinches. He also loves neck skin. He'll pinch everyone's neck skin.
oh my gosh! DD would pinch the under side of my arm - my "wings" that hurt like hell but she hasn't done that in a while; hopefully it is a phase!

If it was a couple of weeks ago, it's possible it was related to Leap 5, which starts between 21 and 24 weeks and ends between 26 and 28 weeks.
Anyone else's kid full on grunting and pushing and making crazy faces when they poo? Watching DD now and it is hilarious!! good thing I JUST changed her diaper.
Yep lol my kid grunts about everything though. Grunting paired with arms up means pick me up. Paired with stretching her neck out means give me more food NOW! Her poop grunts are long and drawn out. It's hilarious!

Definitely this. DH will bring her to nurse in the mornings and while he's getting her Zantac, she rolls over with arms outstretched and pulls herself closer to me.
windwithfingers Never mind. It looks like there is a period between 29-30 weeks where they discover mom and dad can walk away. It's not really a leap, though.

Right, during Leap 5 they figure that out, so Leap 5 technically has a fussy period before AND after the leap itself. Which is terrible.

Agreed. We can't get anything done with her like this right now.
DS has started imitating people. My grandma has a chronic cough and every time she coughs DS laughs hysterically. Now, every time my grandma walks into the room DS looks and her and fake coughs. It's pretty funny.

I started noticing that m blows raspberries at my friend and her son because they always do raspberries and he stuck his tongue out (something he has never done before) at my other friend who does that with her son.
I use a manual pump MOTN and put in in a ziplock bag because I worry that if the cat doesn't sneeze on it, a spider might be interested in it or the annoying stink bugs that have made their way over from Asia might end up in a flange
Stink bugs are worse than spiders! I keep the spiders alive in hopes that they'll keep the stink bugs at bay! They're such assholes, I can't stand them!!!
This may have already been input on a ton but we the people we selected as "godparents" are not a couple and are not even friends. We are not actually baptizing DD so it is not religious official or anything. We selected my best friend as godmother who is not married and DH's best friend as godfather who is married. DH's best friend is Catholic and DH is the godfather of their two children. This was prior to DH and I meeting but I doubt I would have been selected as godmother just because I am his wife.
Did you select them as legal guardians then? I'm just curious to know what role a godparent plays if it's not for religious or legal purposes?
We are not religious, so we named legal guardians in the event anything should happen to both of us.
We are named legal guardians for our friend's kids, and they call us their godparents even though it's not a religious designation. It just sounds better than legal guardians.

You are much kinder...I just call it neck fat. And apparently it's fun to grab.

We are in the process of doing that but our family knows that is our intent. We also plan to have them as trustees of the trust our life insurance will go into should something happen to both of us. We are dual military (DH active and Mr National Guard) so we do have notarized documents in place with the Military appointing them as her temporary Guardians in the event the Military takes us both away from the home at the same time.
