Right now I am trying to watch calories to lose weight but before that I had a glass every night and EBF. Would have 2 on the weekends. Would try to wait 2 hours before nursing but sometimes it was less and LO was never affected. Slept fine. Was not cranky. Was not overly tired. And is right where he should be developmentally. I would not get drunk and BF but I personally don't think there is anything wrong with BF and having a glass or two.
I'm like most of you and have a couple drinks a week. Never seems to affect LO but for some reason I feel guilty at times like maybe it could. There is research though out there supporting the theory that it's okay to have 1-2.

I voted never, which is true but it isn't because I'm breast feeding, it is just that I don't drink. Alcohol is expensive and was an easy thing for us to cut out when we started budgeting. So was pop. Now we pretty much just drink tea, water and coffee.

I am such a lightweight now! I will have 1 or 2 after work. They are usually really spaced out. Well actually it just takes me forever to finish a drink. I have had 3 on a Saturday or Sunday but then it's like one at lunch then one early evening then one after bedtime.
Eta: breastmilk will have the same concentration as your blood. So .08%? That's less than what orange juice has naturally.

Sadly I've lost my taste for alcohol after pregnancy, but I wouldn't be opposed to a drink here and there. I think I've had many two drinks a month since DS was born and we EBF. I try to adhere to the two hour space rule as well. My father was an alcoholic and passed because of it, so I try to be extra sensitive around my mom and will abstain completely.
I have one or two a few nights a week and maybe more once a week (like a night out or with company). I'm not worried about timing it with their feedings either.
A few times a week I will have a glass of wine or beer after LO goes to sleep and I know he won't be up to nurse for several hours. Tried a little whiskey when I had a bad cough, DH swears it helps, and it did a little or it was all in my head, who knows. I think I can acquire a taste for it.
I have a beer a couple times a week. I try to have it after LO goes down for the night. I also drink it very slow so even is she wakes and needs a feeding I won't have much alcohol in my system. I've also started making an occasional martini (not on the beer nights).
Keep in mind I work in a bar.. So every shift I have a shift drink (i always choose beer, Bells Two Hearted a double IPA) and on weekends we take a shift shot or 3. I try to pump right before we take any shots. They don't get me drunk, I'm just a little more pleasant to my annoying customers.. Haha.

I may have a drink or 2 a week, depending on the social/family activities we have going on. Sometimes I just monopolize the last half of my husband's beer. I don't think about drinking and nursing time, honestly, unless it's something more powerful. Whiskey is reserved for after LO is in bed.

I've never really been into alcohol all that much. If I'm going out with friends or at a wedding or something (getting some kinda tipsy or drunk), then I'll have a few. That hasn't happened yet since DS has arrived though. I'm going to a bachelorette and wedding next month. My tab should be awfully cheap. I'll probably be slurring my speech after one glass of champagne haha.
I usually have a beer or a glass of wine almost every night- it's my husband and I's way of winding down and catching one another up on our days. I never really worry about timing it with when I am pumping- like others have said it is the same concentration as in your blood stream so unless you are getting drunk you should be fine. The most I have ever had since the twins were born was 3 drinks spaced over like 8 hours.
Wine with dinner frequently. We ave dinner after DS goe to be so I don't really think about drinking + nursing. I only put thought into it when he was a newborn and my tolerance was lower and he was cluster feeding in the evenings.
We should turn this into a what are you drinking thread. Personally I'm sipping on a gin and tonic because LO is in bed!
Yes! I'm drinking la croix but I enjoyed some wine earlier today
What kind? Wine is usually my weapon of choice but DH doesn't like it so it's hard to buy a bottle and commit to drinking the entire bottle but somehow I manage.....;-)
I'm on beer number 2. Might have a third. Coors banquet. Not my favourite by any stretch but it's leftover from company. It's a beautiful calm evening and I'm sitting on my deck with a prairie view.
I don't come in this thread because I don't breastfeed. Out of boredom I clicked on it, and now I see y'all are in here partying it up without me. Pssshhh.

Drinking and mommying can't be easy either way! Most babies get up at the ass crack of dawn. It still seems like a bad idea to drink more than 1 or 2. My friend who EFF goes out drinking occasionally but her DH does much of the early morning stuff! She says I need a night out... I'm like, "are you going to come over at 5:30 AM to take care of my LO??"
+1 for red wine, but I can't do hoppy beer. I have read that boxes are a better way to store wine because light does not get in, so really you are being more of a connoisseur.
