Do any of you have any travel plans? DH uncle is getting married June 20th in DC (we live in Florida) I'd be about 8 weeks and we usually take a week vacation in July. I think I'm skipping DC just because I'm scared of feeling awful (and my MIL is a nightmare) but I'd really like to go on a vacation in July. We planned on Costa Rica. Is that totally crazy? My RE said anything after 12 weeks is fine unless I'm high risk. Thoughts?
I am going to Seattle next week and then Denver the first weekend in June. We are also going to San Fran at the end of June and we plan to take a tropical vacation at the end of August. We went to the Virgin Islands before I was 12 weeks with my last pregnancy and everything was fine.

We have road/camping trips planned a few times this summer. I would be fine with flying anytime during pregnancy, as long as my Dr said it was OK, and not too close to my due date. But. That being said, you do you
I flew three times cross country for work during my last pregnancy, and went to Europe all in the first trimester. I had minimal nausea and other symptoms, and my RE said there was very little risk. I avoided the metal detectors because of my own paranoia, and probably will be this time around.
Next week I will be flying to New York for a long weekend to visit my sister, and I will also be flying home to Chicago in mid-August. We just got back from a long road trip to Disneyworld so DH's vacation time is almost maxed out. Short weekend trips by plane to see my mom with DD are usually the norm for me, though.
I have a work trip to upstate NY in August. Prior to our BFP, we were considering Disneyland for Thanksgiving. Obviously the timing is super close and I don't feel comfortable planning anything that late. We were thinking that before Halloween might work though?
I say go for it!! Costa Rica is beautiful. You're going to love it!
The only reason I'm hesitant to go on vacation while pregnant is because I want to save my vacation time for my maternity leave. I'll vote for anyone into office if they promise paid maternity/paternity leave!
I'm writing this from Paris, and when I told my RE I was pregnant, they bumped my appointment back to a time that would not be too early for an US. The receptionist was looking at dates for week 6 (when I would be away) and when I told her I would be in Europe, she simply booked the appointment for when I would be back. She made no fuss about travel, so I figured it was fine. The only thing that worries me about going to Hawaii for weeks 11 and 12 is that DHs parents are joining us for the second week, and are going to see me before I am planning on telling them we're expecting, and I'm worried that they'll find out.
We are going to Cyprus in late July, which is a four hour or five hour flight from here. I checked with my RE before we booked it, and he assured us that we would be absolutely fine. We're also wanted to go to Budapest in November, which again our RE has said is fine again. I think up until you are 34 weeks pregnant (or some airlines say 36 weeks) you are good to go. I went on holiday to Egypt when I was 20 weeks pregnant with DD1 and everything was completely fine, and then we went to see my family in London when I was 33 weeks and I was still fine.

Holy frequent flyer! Super jealous
DH travels for work so he has a lot of FF miles and HHonors points to use, but we do really love to travel.
We've got a bunch of camping trips planned through October. If I feel awful, I'll just head in and lay down in the AC.
I'm most worried about next weekend. We haven't told anyone and there's a lot of alcohol with this group of friends. Everyone knows how much I love spiked Vernors (with vanilla vodka, tastes like creme soda!) and I'm hoping no one pays much attention to my not drinking anything else. If someone hands me something, I'll hopefully be able to pull off slyly not drinking.
After next weekend, the trips following will likely be after we've started telling people.

Excuses I've used: I'm too hungover to drink, carry it around and dump 1/2 out in bathroom, designated driver, antibiotics & non alcoholic beer :-)

We are taking a trip in July to either Arizona or Mexico. I'm not worried. We went to Mexico during my first pregnancy and sandiego during my second. Plenty of other boring driving trips and they always just say walk regularly.

Although I do draw the line at holiday travel. I like being home and both times we've told the iLs I can't travel for holidays even though my doctor said it was fine.

This is my concern next weekend, we basically sit around the fire and drink all night so I too am hoping no one notices since it's too early for us to tell anyone. No AC or electricity or running water for a few miles so I'm saying a small prayer I'll feel OK. As of right now I'm gonna enlist my cousin and have her vouch for me that my gastritis flared while I was in the keys (it didn't lol) with her so I won't be drinking. She is one of just two people who know about the BFP. But if I'm puking I'm not sure what I'll be able to do haha.
Hoping my cousins engagement will be plenty of news, this same cousins BF is planning on proposing on the mountain!
Wishing you a non-nauseated and non suspicious weekend next weekend! Hopefully some fakey drinking tactics will work for you :-)

You're a more hardcore camper than I am! We almost always stay at state parks. My BFF will be on the trip. As much as she'd help me out, I don't want to tell anyone before my 2 DDs and we're not ready to tell them yet.
sumbeach, I plan to dump some out when I can if I can't get away from an offer.
I traveled during my last pregnancy and will this time as well. I'm going to Las Vegas (a cross-country trip for me) next week for work. I did this about 9-10 weeks last time as well. I will probably go to South Carolina as well as Bermuda with family this summer, and we may visit SIL/BIL in Colorado in the fall.
As PPs have said, no reason not to fly as long as you're not high risk, and doc ok's it. Some airlines cut off anywhere 30-35 weeks I think, and my doc asked us not to fly or go more than a few hours from home after 37, as you're considered full-term and could go anytime.

If you are up for it, no reason not to travel!
With that said, I have tons of preplanned travel (work & personal) coming up and now that I'm pg I'm a bit overwhelmed with the thought of it. I leave for Austin, TX on Wednesday for a quick overnight. We have a week vacation in June in Hawaii. I really hope that I'm not a mess with morning sickness while we are there. Then right after that I have to go to St. Louis for work. NYC end of July, Huntington Beach mid August and then we are taking my son to Disneyland for the first time for Halloween and my bday. I love to travel but this is a bit much.

Huntington Beach is my absolute fav! And we are considering Disneyland for Halloween as well.
I never worried about travel until later in pregnancy. I was considered high risk last time because of my age, and hoping that I can take a trip to Denver for a family reunion over Labor Day. Not sure if because DS was 5 weeks early that will raise my risk....
I say go for the travel and just try to take it easy...
We have plans to drive all over the Midwest visiting family from the mid/end of June to just after July 4th. I'm a little worried about being in a car so much, especially if my back is aching, but if my 4 year old can sit still, so can I.
This summer sets up the next summer when we hope to take the trip we WANT to take, which is going back to where we got married and relaxing in a cabin for awhile. It's hard with family so spread out. We "owe" a few people visits. After that, we won't be going to them again for a while, I think. New baby trump card!
