I have been disappointed in the past few seasons so I had low expectations for the finale. I have shipped Peggy and Stan for a long time so that was exciting. Don's story was boring to me and I hated the cut to the coke ad.
I kinda wanted a little more closure on Betty too. Did Peggy join Joan?? I'm thinking Don did do the Coke campaign. That little smile at the end and Peggy previously saying he is a master at reinventing himself makes me think so.

Joan answered the phone "Holloway Harris" at the end (her maiden name was Holloway, right?) So I took it as Peggy did not join her. I actually liked that part because I took it as Peggy letting go of her quest for power and deciding to just do what she is good at per Stan's advice.
After sleeping on it, I hate the cut to the coke commercial even more. It feels like such a cop out because it is not original to the writers of the show. To me it feels like they didn't have any great ideas so they just borrowed a very successful ad campaign.
Ahh! I missed the names when Joan answered the phone. And yes, Don was an ass. I'll pretty much say all the men in the show were asses. I did not now that McCann-Erickson was a real life ad agency. How interesting! But I did immediately get that Don had something to do with the Coke campaign. Peggy did say that Don was the master of reinventing himself so that little smile at the end hinted at something. I'm glad Peggy found her happiness with Stan!
maybe I'm in the minority then - I really liked it. I've loved the show since the beginning and I thought the end was fitting. The door closes...the light goes off. Fitting, I thought!
I'm with you! I actually thought it was pretty well done. I really loved watching Don's journey of self discovery only to realize that he knows who he is - an ad man all along - and make peace with it. I'm also happy they left Betty alive, we all know what's coming but didn't need to see the aftermath. Overall, I thought it was the best ending I've seen to any of the shows I've watched that have recently ended.
