Before the big switch I remember a running thread about what was on the baby menu. We're starting to give more table foods now (trying to wean), you'd think this was my first rodeo, but I'm having trouble coming up with good options for him to eat. So, what's on the menu F14?
Quesadillas Grilled cheese Baked ziti Butternut squash fries Sweet potato fries Pancakes and waffles Meatballs Lunch meat Cheese Squash and apple muffins
I mean, his dinner is whatever our dinner is. He lunch is either leftovers or something like meat and cheese or quesadilla, etc. I put veggies on his tray both lunch and dinner in hopes of something getting in his mouth.
She pretty much eats what we do. I have found she doesn't like plain chicken, so I try to add spices or cheese. One of her favorites is a chicken breast with sautéed spinach and melted mozzarella on top.
I've also found that I sometimes have to "jump start" her with food she loves to get her to try something else. Last night, I gave her what we were having: SkinnyTaste Santa Fe chicken (shredded chicken with Mexican spices, corn, and black beans). She totally refused... Until I gave her some roasted sweet potatoes and quartered grape tomatoes. After that, she went back to the chicken and ate it all!
One other odd favorite: Mediterranean flavors. She loves chickpeas and feta! Dreaming If you can't make chicken work, maybe try other protein sources?
Berries Baby nutrigrain bars (earth's best) Waffles Pancakes Toast with PB Anything on a Ritz or club cracker Veggies, if they come from my plate only Any kind of pasta Mashed potatoes Guacamole Meatballs
Squash and cheese quesadillas Chicken and cheese quesadillas Turkey meatballs with Broccoli florets and cheddar cheese Roasted butternut squash and sweet potatoes Cheese sticks Baked Banana oatmeal 'cookies' Crockpot Apple sauce has been a big hit
X eats everything! We did baby led weaning so he never has purees. He just eats whatever we eat but his favorites are meatballs, grilled cheese, ravioli, veggie burgers and any fruit or veggie.
He eats a lot of what we do, but is a beast if we try to spoon feed him, he wants to eat by himself so that rules out any kind of soups or oatmeal type consistency foods. Meatballs/meatloaf with veggies in them are a big hit, baked oatmeal with berries, ravioli, grilled cheese, quesadillas.

Adding to all the other suggestions:
-chili (bonus, really easy to heat up, I squish the beans a little when I give them to him) -sweet potato black bean quinoa chili (I have the recipe if anyone's interested) -we do a lot of stir fry with somewhat spicy sauces, and marinated tofu -channa masala (we get a box version sometimes, and it's pretty good) -roasted zucchini w/ paprika -falafel
carissalynp yep. I cut the squash into fry-like pieces (betcha didn't know about that step!). I tossed it with some olive oil and maple syrup (because why not) and added a lil teensy bit of ginger, salt, and pepper. Bake at 400 until done. I baked them on parchment because I didn't want my hard work of cutting that thing into fries going to waste if they stuck to my cookie sheet.
lots of steamed veggies -the ziploc steamer bags are great and totally save me rice/barley medley from TJs orzo pasta that I toss with with some butter and cheese roasted chicken deli turkey turkey meatballs fruit--mainly bananas and pears yo-baby yogurts
she gets more variety of flavors at daycare--they have amazing lunches for the kids, so I don't feel too bad that dinners are kind of plain.
LO eats whatever we eat. Sometimes we do make his food separately from ours because we don't give him added salt and we like spicy foods. We are trying to slowly intoduce him to spicy foods. We just have to watch him because he does rub his eyes.
I will be looking here for ideas! Some things LO seems to like: Those fruit and veggie muffins String cheese Tortillas with peanut butter Skinnytaste cheeseburger casserole (mainly whole wheat rotini pasta, ground beef, cheese, diced tomato) Gerber graduates ravioli Cheesy quinoa broccoli bites (messy, though!) Chunks of salmon Lunch meat
Hi - I don't go here (M14) just lurking to see what you're all feeding as I transition to more finger foods. ... anyway... "those fruit & veggie muffins"? Do you have a recipe you can share? Looking for things I can send to daycare as snacks Thanks!

YES. The eye rubbing is definitely the problem with spicy food, ugh.

It's so frustrating. I hope the eye rubbing while eating stops soon.
Unless our dinner is after her dinner time, she eats whatever we are eating and then has leftovers for lunch the next day. If she eats earlier than us (during the week we don't eat until after 7 some nights) the go-tos are: quesadilla, grilled cheese, pasta and sauce. She always gets veggies first, main meal, then fruit. For breakfast: oatmeal, pancakes, eggs, toast, Belgium waffle, fruit yogurt. Snacks: cheese sticks, Cheerios, crunchies, puffs, crackers, dog food (at least she tries whenever he is eating)
