It literally gets to 80 degrees maybe 2 days a year here. -40, that's usually for a whole fucking month. Last year our heat kicked on every month of the year. And it is set at 68.
All the talk about daycares being germy etc annoy me. So it has nothing to do with our immune systems or our ability to fend off illnesses? We're just doomed to be victims of germs? IDK just annoying.
And yes, mine have been in daycare since infants.
My kids have pretty good immune systems and don't get sick often and have gone to daycare since 3 months old. Sure they have gotten some of the things going around by my niece and my cousins son both got to babysitters who have only 2 or 3 other kids there and they are sick way more often than my kids.
I don't want to agree with you & jinx myself, but know I'm doing the :::pointy eye thing::: to this
I know Larry happened. Please do not try to convince me otherwise. Please don't talk to me about coffee. I don't drink it. I don't caffeine. When I state my opinion, that is me chiming in on a topic. This is not me saying you suck at life if you do or feel differently. If I want to say that, I will. If I want to speak on you, I will.
I have a very specific temperature tolerance range of 68-73. 80 degrees in my house would cause no sleep and lots of grumpy, sweaty people.
this is very true for me as well.
I'm super super sensitive to the heat. It's kind of the "thing" that all my friends and family tease me about. I need moving/circulating air (we have overhead fans everywhere) and it needs to be a good temperature. I start to feel hot at any indoor temp above 73. I can guess the temp within 1-2 degrees inside by just standing there.
Pretty much this. Our fans are always on, and we keep it at 69-70 year-round.
We don't turn our AC on until it gets to 80 in the house and we keep it at 80. We can all sleep, we just wear fewer clothes. In the winter we keep the house at 68 so I bundle up.
I would probably prefer at least 72 in the winter and 76 in the summer. My inlaws keep their house at 72 in the summer and I am freezing when I go there in my shorts and t shirts.
68 and you bundle up? You'd hate my house. I keep the heat at 65 during the winter, 68 if it's really cold and at night it's down to 60.
I hate when it is pouring down rain and people drive like there is nothing going on. I don't feel safe driving 75 mph in the pouring rain. Like don't you slow down a little bit?
Not unpopular. It's even worse when you (general you) live in an area with snow and some drivers of trucks and SUVs speed through the snow or tailgate the poor person in front of them driving within the conditions.

Here we have the exact opposite problem. When it's raining people freak out and think they need to drive 10mph
I don't get the annoyance at the germ talk surrounding daycare. It's simply a scientific fact. As soon as many humans are in contact with one another, the prevalence of illness increases. Small, new humans are particularly susceptible because they don't have built-up immune systems yet. Have you ever looked at epidemiology charts? Most of the shit that kids catch at daycare is highly communicable. If they weren't in close contact with multiple other children per day, they would be less likely to catch shit.
And the fact of the matter is that, yes, every single day we are absolutely assaulted with germs. Literally everywhere, all the time, it's never ending. That is why the human immune system is amazing. It catalogs all that shit and knows when it's seen something before and how to fight it. All kids have to go through it. It's 100% impossible for any human to have gone through their life and "never gotten sick". Probably as a adult your immune catalog is huge so you get sick rarely. But growing up you were getting sick all the time. You might not even remember because it happens so young. My kid is only 3 and very rarely gets sick like he did when he first started daycare.
I was making small talk with Kenz's principal while we waited for her last IEP meeting. She said that she hasn't been sick but one time in 12 years because when you spend that much time around kids, your immune system gets really strong.
I'm sure I'm not alone here but I love winter. I love the cold weather and the snow. It's a definite UO where I live (by the beach) and my FB is constantly filled with countdowns until Memorial Day weekend lol
I would *like* the cold and snow too if I lived by the beach
