We are doing rubber duckies for LO 's party. They are her favorite toy! Not sure about decorations yet but I looked on Pinterest and they seemed pretty cute.

I've been debating about ours. DH & I are big anime fans so I've been tempted to do a Totoro/Miyazaki theme. I'm not crafty at all but I found a few things on Etsy for it.
On the other hand she really likes sea turtles so I could do some sort of ocean/aquarium theme.
Other times I wonder if I should even bother doing a theme at all, or just save myself the trouble. (Since she'll only be 1 and won't remember it.)

To me a theme should make the planning easier not more complicated. It should give you something to center any decor or food around. If it's too much stress or work or complex I think it's fine to change it, have no theme, or just do some simple color theme with good food and drinks!

I guess her theme would be "tutus and girly". I made her a tutu to wear when eating her cake and for pictures, a tutu for her high chair and the invites have a tutu on them. Other than that we're just doing girly colors and such. I wanted NOTHING to do with anything girly as a child, and it was all my mom wanted was a girly girl. I figure if she turns out to not be a girly girl, I better get my fill of a girly party before she can voice her own opinion.

I didn't know what we were doing when this thread started but now I do. Were doing mainly flowers and a little butterflies. Basically springtime stuff. There's so many cute diy flower and butterfly things on pinterest. Lots of ideas. Ver y little execution so far.

I keep going back and forth on how much effort I want to put into this party. But, I do need to get on this. Invites need to get sent out to family - I have decided I'll do invites at the very least. Less than a month To pull it together.

I'm a major planner. I have the party room reserved and everything but a first bday outfit purchased. Just need to send out the invites, make the cupcakes, and place the food order. We are doing a girly jungle animal theme
We just changed the theme lol went from jungle to Minnie mouse couldn't get a jungle outfit in time so minnie it is!!! And they have tons on Minnie junk at the party store so it's perfect lol
We still have done nothing. 3/22 seems so far away.
I asked my boyfriend if we should just let his mom plan it. She is good at planning stuff, but he was like - "do you want a shitty cake?" But, at our rate she will not have a cake.
