I think that babies and toddlers should be dressed like babies and toddlers. I don't get the fad of making your young child look like a miniature adult. I like the babyish and cutesy stuff.
My child owns the odd pair of skinny jeans and cute sweater but I pair it with something child like because it weirds me out.
DD has an odd assortment of clothes, but the girl loves her jeggings. She also has super long hair. She had almost 2 inches when she was born and it never fell out and we haven't cut it. Right now at 2, it goes down almost to her little toddler butt, I love it and I think she looks the cutest when it's up in a little bun and she is wearing a cute sweater and leggings.
I mostly comment on intro posts to up my post count. I mean I am happy for new members but it's hard work doing it for everyone I might as well be getting something out of it too!
It took me a long time to get pregnant and I'm not going to be put in some designated thread for my ultrasound. The symptoms threads/appointments what not those makes perfect sense to all be in one place but I really feel everyone should be able to AW their own pictures of their baby.
Regarding the taxes, I feel the pain of having to pay a ton. I'm annoyed because even though MH and I claimed 0, we still will owe $4000 because we are at weird salary rates, I guess. I'm fine with taxes overall, I just wish that if you claimed 0 that you wouldn't still owe. I will look into what andtheheartbreakers suggested and have my company put me at the higher tax bracket. Good suggestion.
I also love seeing the ultrasound pictures! I just got an appt for next Friday for mine. So stoked.

Yuck. I hate babyish stuff. All things Carter's is banned from our house. And things that say stuff like "Mommy's 'lil guy" make me irrationally annoyed. I love real clothes on kids- jeans, cardigans, etc. I dress my toddler like a little hipster and love it. I agree bikinis are gross on children, however.

You can also choose to have your employer take a little extra each check for taxes. If you read the w2 withhold ing form it has a space for additional amount to withhold. Comes put every check and goes towards your taxes.
I did see that, I guess I just naively thought that if you claim 0 that you would definitely not owe anything. Lesson learned I guess.
My UO is that intense, gut-twisting nausea should warrant taking a sick day from work. I don't know if it's actually unpopular, or just unpopular with my DH and BF. But if all I am doing is staring at my work, and focusing on breathing to avoid vomiting all over it, I should be able to take a sick day.
(I don't know how this logic will hold up after weeks on end of nausea, but that sounds like future London's problem)
There is nothing unpopular about this opinion. I've had weeks on end of nausea and I think it should warrant a sick day each and every time.

I totally agree that morning sickness that intense should warrant a sick day, but I also don't really understand why someone with ms severe enough to make them feel they needed to call off work wouldn't ask their OB for a prescription for anti-nausea meds, or try the B6-unisom combination. I already have a prescription for Zofran, and I fully intend on using it if morning sickness interferes with my work. Though I guess sometimes women have problems severe enough that meds don't cut it.

Agree completely. I'm on meds. It is making things tolerable. I think there's also a lot of uninformed people out there who don't realize that there are prescriptions that can help significantly. And lots of people are uncomfortable or fearful of the idea of taking various drugs while pregnant.

I've heard women say things like, they don't want to take medication because they want to do things the "natural" way. I don't get that. If medication helps and isn't going to harm your baby, why not take it? You're not going to win an award for toughing it out!
Out of curiosity, what meds are you on? I haven't had to take the Zofran yet, but I have a major vomiting phobia (emetophobia), and I fully intend to if I have nausea that gets to the point where I feel like I might puke. Having a massive panic attack would probably be more harmful than a 4mg Zofran.
cabgirl, my doc gave me some new drug called Diclegis. She said it's better than Zofran because it doesn't constipate you? I haven't taken one yet (superstitiously waiting until after my ultrasound tomorrow for no reason other than insanity), but my friend just had a baby and took it her whole pregnancy. She said it worked really well. She went from vomiting multiple times a day to just really mild nausea.
Good to know! I'll have to ask my OB about that at my first appointment. I've taken Zofran before, and it does constipate you if you take more than a 4mg dose, or 2 doses in one day. I think pretty sporadic use would be fine. I'm sort of hoping to not need it at all, but I'll take it if I have to!

I snipped the quote.
I had no idea this was a thing! i will do anything to avoid throwing up. Will power has been pretty effective.

Diclegis is great. I've been using it for a week now. Still feel nauseous, but no puking. Plus it's class A. I will say though I tried it last pregnancy and it didn't help. Fingers crossed it helps for you guys if you try!

It's actually really common. I was wondering if anyone else here had it. Do you have any morning sickness yet? If so, how are you dealing? I don't know how severe your fear is, but mine can be pretty consuming sometimes. I stocked up on every natural nausea remedy I could find, and I'm just waiting for it to hit. Honestly, it says a lot about how much I want this baby and how grateful I am to be pregnant that I am not freaking out about the possibility of impending morning sickness.

Diclegis is the actual prescription for the unisom/b6 combination I believe. I had a compounded script for the same thing but the label called it "b6dx" and it was amazing!
I have to take 3 8mg pills of Zofran a day or I cannot function! Once every 8 hours, round the clock until about 22-24 weeks along. It's horrible. I've heard of women who had Hyperemesis Gravidarum (extreme morning sickness basically) and got Zofran pumps! Sort of like an insulin pump. it has been my wish in every pregnancy that I get one of those but no such luck. They just give me the pills.
Also, since we are talking pills, there are Zofran dissolvables that taste like cherry I think, but they don't work near as good as regular Zofran.
Side note::: have I missed an acronyms/abbreviations post about what all of these mean? I know some of the more common ones and can usually figure them out in context but some I still don't understand..
I get irrationally annoyed every time I see a ticker from TB.
But, but, but how else I'm I supposed to know what size fruit I'm carrying?
I always have this strange craving for the fruit I am that week. It's kinda uncomfortable. "Aww, my baby is a blueberry this week..... A blueberry muffin sounds tasty"
For the record, education for ALL children > your dream of the perfect nursery for your child.
I mean or how about who cares if the nursery is friggin perfect. How about being grateful for a healthy living baby. The priorities in this post are making me squirm.

I totally agree on putting Starbucks last. But yeah, gotta go dunkin over Horton's on coffee. Also non-canuck here.
We don't have Dunkin Donuts here and I miss it. I miss the coffee and the bagels. We have so many independent donut shops in California. I dig the mom and pop thing, I just miss the bagels and reliable coffee.
Oh wait. I miss WaWa more. Does anyone know what I'm talking about?
Ooh, I do! I lived in NJ for 6 years. I don't miss WaWa coffee, but I do miss WaWa.
My UO is that (for doughnuts) I think, Dunkin > Tim Hortons. This is easily considered treasonous.

Hey ntaylor989 I know we just met but we should be friends bc we totally agree on coffee. I have lived in New England (Dunkin-land) and went to college in Philly (where Wawa reigns supreme). Now in CA I miss both but feel a bit guilty bc u know, chains.
Also I don't know precisely where you live but Dunkin will be coming in the next few years.
ETA: I'm not sure I tagged the right person. Quote boxes be confusing. Was that pineapplesmoothie talking?
My random is my MIL just arrived for a visit and informed us that one of the cousins is 7 weeks pregnant. Apparently it's a "secret". I wanted to not tell her about me being KTFU yet since I'm only 4.5 weeks but now DH wants to tell her and just swear her to secrecy. What do I do?

My requirement for moving from NJ was that we needed to live near Wawa. Wawa is the ONLY convenience store.
Me (37) + DH (39) BFP #1: DS born July 2011 BFPs #2,3,4,5: Four losses from Nov 2013-Nov 2014. Yeah, that sucked. BFP #6: 1/5/15 - Rainbow baby boy born 9/16/15

Well it sounds like the lady isn't great with secrets, lol.
No kidding. I get his desire to tell her and have a warm and fuzzy moment but it's just so.early.

Definitely doesn't seem like she can keep a secret. I would hold off until you're more comfortable. We told my mom Wednesday night and are having DH's parents over tonight to tell them. Everyone else has to wait to find out until 12ish weeks.

I'm on something called Diclectin. It's a combination of 10 mg of doxylamine and 10 mg of vitamin B6. Apparently it's the only approved antiemetic approved in Canada during pregnancy. For some reason it's not available or approved in the USA. Dunno' the ins and outs of why one country approves one and not the other - but I trust my midwife's medical advice.
