The UO had me wondering, do you or your SO have any eating quirks?
My H is super picky. He won't eat anything with red sauce (read: he doesn't eat pizza or spaghetti sauce). He hates a lot of veggies like broccoli, spinach and most leafy greens, squashs, sweet potatoes. He also doesn't like to eat in front of other people, like at cookouts and parties and all. No cream cheese No yogurt No mayo There's a million more, he's just so annoying, he won't even TRY most things. Half the time I don't tell him what I'm putting in stuff and he eats it anyway.
For me, I'll try pretty much everything. The only thing I can think of is that I don't like mushrooms. But I've tried them several different ways and just don't care for them. ::shrug::
ETA Oh but H will eat onions and peppers like apples too, just grab 'em and bite into 'em. DS is like this with peppers, but not onions *yet* lol.
But, if you serve me limp, hot, wet vegetables, I will not eat them. I prefer them on the rawer, crisper, slightly warmed side of life. If it's a choice between overcooking them or not cooking them at all, the answer is always "not cook them at all."

MH doesn't like condiments on sandwiches or burgers. He eats sandwiches dry (yack) or with hummus. He dips his burgers in ketchup, he won't just put ketchup on them.
I'm not picky at all. Besides the weird condiment thing, he's not very picky. But the condiment thing drives me nuts.

I'm an extremely picky eater and I have the palette of a 5-year-old.
I WILL try anything once - I WILL NOT say I don't like something if I've never tried it.
I can't stand fish - I've yet to try one that I like (I do eat shellfish) I can't stand peppers - even if a pepper has touched another food I'm eating and I can still taste the flavor, cringe. Nope to yogurt. I even tried a mint/dark chocolate flavored one and couldn't handle it. Oatmeal. Gah. Cannot. Hot sauce - NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOPE.
The list goes on and on and on, and many of the foods that I don't like, I'll eat if they're being served, I'd just never pick them...but many I legit cannot even stand enough to eat at all.
H and I typically aren't picky about actual foods, just maybe the way it's prepared like if it's overcooked or dry.
H is allergic to nuts (not peanuts or pistachios) and fish (but not shellfish. Drives him nuts when I tell servers at restaurants his allergies. He doesn't want to come off as "picky." I argue that it's obviously not "picky" and I'd rather not spend the night in the emergency room.

I'm the picky one.
I don't like raw onions, broccoli, cooked tomatoes, mushrooms, raisins, beef, olives, all members of the nut family, hot dogs, eggplant, cabbage, cauliflower.. I'm sure there is more I'm forgetting.

I do not like foods that touch (bring on the cafeteria style trays or paper plates with dividers) I do not like most casseroles or foods that seemingly should not be mixed. Though I'm getting better I do not like salad dressing I don't really like sandwiches (so gross. just piles of random shit between bread) I don't like mustard or ketchup on my meat (like hot dogs or burgers) I will not eat meat if it's not medium-well to well done I don't like most Mexican food I don't think that vegetables belong on pizzas I don't like mushrooms I hate fish. If it smells the same rotting on the beach as it does when it's on a plate it's not going in my mouth I despise tomato soup
Oh. I forgot oatmeal. It's just vile. It's like "I don't know if I want to be rice or soup... so I'm just going to be this awkward texture in between that tastes like the tears of a newborn puppy"
All that being said I will try anything once, and if I'm at some sort of formal affair (fundraising gala, wedding, etc) I will eat whats in front of me. Or at least push the food around enough to make it appear that I ate the food

DH hates tomatoes, will not eat them. Even when I try to sneak them diced in a dish when he's done there's a pile of tomatoes left on his plate. Also doesn't care for salsa. But will eat ketchup like it's going out of style. He doesn't like any type of rice, doesn't like green vegetables very much. He doesn't like olives or mushrooms. If I let that man live off of meat, potatoes, and mac n cheese every night he'd be perfectly happy.
I'm not really picky except for I hate seafood. If it comes out of the water I don't eat it. Everything else I'll normally give it a try before I knock it.
ETA: I forgot oatmeal. I've tried it more than once and cannot stand it.
H will not eat melons, squash, or cucumbers (unless pickled). I'm sure there are more I'm forgetting.
I won't eat grainy foods like steel cut oatmeal (love rolled oats), rice, or grits because they get stuck on my tonsils and form tonsil rocks. I also won't eat mushrooms thanks to the texture.
ETA: I also hate salad dressing and raw tomatoes. Also: beans. I won't eat Mexican because everything comes with rice and beans. I also won't eat anything that has to do with chickpeas because of a soy allergy. I'm not even going there.

H and I are pretty adventurous eaters, but he's picky about weird things. Mainly he doesn't like butter. No butter on bread, no butter on corn on the cob, no melted butter with crab legs. He also isn't a fan of a lot of cheeses. I always tell him if I knew this beforehand I may have second guessed the marriage. At least when we get bread at a restaurant I dont have to share my butter though.
We are both picky, but I think he is pickier than I am.
I don't like: mashed potatoes, orange juice, cranberry juice, liver, and lobster
H doesn't like: lobster, shellfish, most fish (he'll only eat it if it's breaded), mayo, oatmeal, lettuce, salads, tunafish sandwiches, chicken salad sandwiches, light meat, butter on anything, dressing on anything, yogurt, greek yogurt, strawberries, anything with berries, all fruits except tangerines, oranges, and bananas. He also hates most vegetables unless they are mixed into something, soups and probably more stuff.
eta: H Also does not like buffet style dining, he gets grossed out thinking other people may have touched the food. He will eat his own leftovers, but will not eat any other left overs. Like if I make rice, he'll only eat leftovers from HIS plate, not what's in the pan. So I need to load up his plate if I want him to eat leftovers.

I'm not picky really. I only have 2 weird food habits, really.
One weird quirk I guess is that I will NOT eat lettuce on a sandwich or burger unless it's chopped. If a burger has a leaf of lettuce on it, I pick it out. It's hard to bite into and it ends up sliding out, taking the rest of the sammich insides with it and that is NOT ok.
One kind of funny thing is that I live in the South and I don't eat fried chicken and I hate creamed corn, collared greens, fried okra, fried green tomatoes... basically all the southern food staples. I can't stand them.

DH won't eat carrots or cheese or a whole list of other things. Though I have gotten more successful and getting him to eat, and enjoy, beans, tuna, brussel sprouts, and shrimp. I won't eat strawberries because I don't like how the little seeds feel in my mouth.
Edited: oh and I eat around my plate. Veggies, then starch/carbs, then meat. None of these things can be touching and I do not eat anything out of order.
Edited again: oh and burgers are meat and bun. No veggies, no cheese, no condiments. Just meat and bun (occasionally bacon). Weirdly enough DH and I agree on this one.

I'll try pretty much anything and will eat what is put in front of me because I was taught it was rude not to. I do not like salmon at all and I don't know why it is a go to fish for every damn restaurant. I am really picky about how my food is cooked/prepared. I can't stand things that are overcooked such as fish and pork (why does everyone overcook pork?) and I eat my steak rare.
H doesn't like peas, asparagus, ricotta cheese, baked ziti, polenta and pretty much anything exotic (Indian, Thai, Spicy, Ethnic). This wouldn't be a problem if whenever we go to the ILs they didn't prepare at least one thing from the list so H gets his own special meal which drives me insane. Also it makes it hard to prepare healthy foods that are in season without making the same old things all the time.
ETA: I hate hate hate sandwiches because the bread gets soggy and disgusting. *gag* It has to be made fresh and eaten within a few minutes else I won't touch it.

Neither of us is picky thankfully. There are a few things I don't like such as mushrooms and mayo but there isn't anything that I know of that DH doesn't like. Seriously the man will eat anything I fix him.

My fiancé will only eat cold things with plastic silverware. So ice cream, macaroni salad, regular salad, all had to be eaten with plastic. I always forget to buy him plastic silverware! Maybe I'll become a better wife the longer I practice...

DH is the same way- it drives me nuts! No condiments on anything- sandwiches are just meat and cheese. For his "salads" he just has lettuce, and cheese. No dressing, no other vegetables.
In general, no vegetables anywhere- which makes trying to cook a healthy meal that we can both eat really challenging. Sometimes I just say YOU'RE 27 it's time to eat your vegetables :-)

thechickencoop Your H sounds like mine except for the red sauce thing! MH won't eat vegetables (only lettuce and tomato on a burger) or anything white and/or creamy <--- his words, not mine. No cheese (except for mozzarella), mayo, mustard, yogurt, cream cheese, etc. He won't eat pie or cake with anything "weird" in it like strawberries, or if there's too much icing. Basically he eats steak, wings, tacos (only if I make them at home), pizza and chicken parm or chicken cutlets. That is it. It's really difficult because I'm a vegetarian so we're really limited on what we can eat together. What really annoys me is that he won't even try anything new. I think it goes back to his mom being a horrible cook because his brothers are all the same way.

My husband likes ketchup but only on hamburgers. Not on fries or hotdogs...just burgers. I am pretty picky but I have and will eat almost anything in front of me to be polite. Except peas. I HATE peas.

I'm the anti-onion and raw peppers. I also don't generally like sweet potatoes.
The only vegetables DH really likes are green beans and cauliflower. He won't eat shell fish.
We started eating low carb a few years ago to lose weight so DH freaks out about rice still. We are more loose with our diet but if the scale creeps up on DH you would think the sky is falling. He tried to ban sugar from our house after the new year.

H has so many rules I can't keep them all straight, so he does most of the cooking.
Potatoes and vegetables can't touch - so no shephard's pie. Thyme is gross Red and yellow peppers are yummy, but green and orange are yucky He thinks he doesn't like Andouille sausage because he doesn't like my gumbo, but I don't make it with Andouille. I have yet to convince him otherwise. He will only eat Bumble bee Solid white albacore tuna. He likes his vegetables cooked to death. He wont cook or reheat anything in the microwave. If you do, he probably wont eat it.

I'm somewhat of a picky eater, but H isn't. He will eat most anything. I loathe tomatoes. If a tomato has been put on a sandwich even after I order it without tomatoes, I kind of lose my appetite. Do you know how hard it is to get the tomato juice and seeds off?!? I'll still eat my meal, but it's less satisfying. I also don't like olives, beets or blue cheese. And, my food cannot touch. I freak out a little inside when something warm is touching something cold.
When I was younger, I had a few instances of people telling me a food was one thing and it turned out to be something else so I'm very cautious when eating something that I'm not sure of the ingredients. For example, my dad told me calamari was onion rings. I cannot tell you how many "onion rings" I ate and then he told me it was squid. I immediately felt nauseous. Not cool, dad. Not. Cool.
