Does my dentist need to know?

I'm wondering if this answer is obvious to other people, but I can't decide.

I have a dentist appointment on Friday.  They always ask if there has been any change in my health.  Does the dentist need to know about my MC?  I guess it didn't really change my health; it was a health 'event.'  I don't want to start an awkward/sad conversation if it isn't necessary.

So odd you posted this- I was having the same thought but from a different POV. I was pregnant and made an appt for 3 months later instead of the usual 6 (which they suggested).

Now that I am no longer pregnant, do I cancel the appointment? I don't want to go in and be asked about a pregnancy that is no longer an issue.

Sorry to thread-jack, but it reminded me of my own issue.

Thanks sarahufl. If I were you, I would probably reschedule the appointment for the typical 6 months.

I mentioned it because my gums were more sensitive. It was a little awkward, but not too bad--usual platitudes, but she also shared about her IVF journey.

Pregnancy can really change things. I would probably disclose the information to my dentist. I know that sucks having to bring it up

I agree that, unfortunately, pregnancy can affect your dental health, so I would bring it up. Is there any way you can just write it on a form or something or let them know if you don't really want to talk about it? I hope your appointment goes well and the staff are understanding

sarahufl - I cancelled my 3 month appt. when I found out. Plus, when my insurance would find out that I did an extra cleaning after the m/c, I would probably have to pay for it OOP.

swivelchair5 - It sucks, but I would bring it up either on the medical form or the dentist. Hope things go well today for you.

I told the dental hygienist and asked her if that was something they needed to know. She said they did not need to know about it. It turned out not to be a big deal, and as usual with these types of situations (for me), the anticipation was way worse than the actual event.
