I'm in a reading rut and need some recommendations! So, what are you reading now? What's your all time favorite book? What's your favorite book series?
I'm not reading anything right now, but finished The Maze Runner a few days ago. It was meh.
The Book Thief is my new favorite book. It was the first one in a long time that i just had to let sink in when I finished it. I had to take a break from reading after that one because I didn't want to let the characters go.
The Kingkiller Chronicles is my favorite series. I really enjoy fantasy novels and Rothfuss is a fantastic writer.
I'm reading an amazing book called "the reason I jump" written by a little boy who's deep in the autism spectrum. it gives you an amazing perspective of the way they feel
Yes its crazy, I was a reading fanatic and then since having DD, I have really slowed down!
Since @beckaroo mentioned comedy books, you have to check out Kelly Oxford's "Everything is Perfect When You're a Liar". Its a riot!
I have so many favorite books here are a few. Firefly Lane, The Art of Racing in the Rain, Room, Merle's Door, Invisible Tears, The Last Noel (just looking through my Nook)
Heller Series by JD Nixon, Australian author and romance/comedy series.
I tend to gravitate toward old books...there's so much new stuff out there that I get overwhelmed and head straight for the classics section. I've been most of the way through Atlas Shrugged for a while now. John Galt's 80-page soliloquy is hard to read and retain when you're sleep-deprived
My all-time favorite author is Alexandre Dumas (The Three Musketeers trilogy, The Count of Monte Cristo). Closely followed by Victor Hugo. And C.S. Lewis. And Tolkein.
I can't pick a favorite series. I enjoy Dorothy Sayers' mysteries. Another old author...maybe I need to do some more current reading

@beckaroo thanks! I have kindle unlimited so I can read them all for free. I figured hey why not. I loved them as a kid.
jt2378 they were my favorite books as a teen. In fact I don't like the movies compared to the books lol. I've only seen 2 of the movies. But they are really interesting!

Ugh. Girls. I used to be such a book worm. Now I can't even keep up-to-date on Us Weekly! I'm 3 issues behind - I'm still waiting for Duchess Kate to have her baby!
But for realsies. Shadow in the Wind by Carlos Ruis Zafon is a great book
As for a series... if you're looking for something light and fun (beach reading), check out Jen Lancaster's books. They are hilarious memoirs, written like she's talking to you as her BFF. so funny. I've read Bitter is the New Black, and Bright Ass Big Lights.

ME TOO!!! I miss it!!
Me three! I used to read ALL of the time, and I haven't really been able to get into anything, really, since I was pregnant. I've bought some books here and there to start, but I can't seem get going, either with no time, or finding other things to do instead. (I've been watching a lot of Netflix when I have a chance lately, currently on Doctor Who)

Me four! I currently only read on my pump breaks (20 min 3 times a day). But once I'm done pumping I will probably never read!

I was disappointed with The Maze Runner as well. Divergent was okay, I only read the first one though. I LOVE The Book Thief. I tried to read his other book, I Am The Messenger, but it wasn't the same.
I loved the Hunger Games books, Harry Potter of course. Neil Gaiman is my favorite author, so anything by him is great. He does fantasy stuff.
As far as Fantasy type series I liked the Fever series, by Karen Marie Moning, Lonely Werewolf Girl series, by Martin Millar, and the "True Blood" series, by Charlaine Harris (before the show came out), the Sword of Truth series, by Terry Goodkind, but I gave up on it after the first 3 or 4 books.
spacedcadet did you finish the sookie series? I read all but the last, I heard such horrible things that I didn't bother.
I like her Harper Connelly series.
No. I think I read all but the last 2? maybe. It started getting old, and then I saw the bad reviews and didn't bother either. I like the Harper Connelly series as well.

These are all that I can think of right now.
Did you notice how often Thomas was "shocked" by anything and everything? Ugh! Once I was halfway through the book I was anticipating the next time he would be shocked about something and it totally ruined it. Get a thesaurus James! That and "shuckface". Oy. That made me cringe. I'll try Neil Gaiman. I haven't read anything by him yet.
