GTKY: How did you find this place?

It's too quiet around here!  I figured I'd throw out a question to kick up some activity!

I've noticed that a lot ladies on the board so far are STM+ - were most of you part of the mass exodus from the "other place"?  Or did you manage to stumble upon this message board for the sole purpose of connecting with other F16-ers?  Recommended by a friend?  Something else completely?

As for me, I came over in the mass exodus in January (has it only been that long?) along with all (well, very nearly all) of my BMB. It seemed obvious to check out the F16 board here on pb, but looking at the newer BMB boards here, it's sad to see how relatively inactive they are, especially compared to my other BMB.

I came with the mass exodus. Honestly I think it's slow here right now because not everyone is here yet and it's so darn early. You can only talk about symptoms so many times. I'd love to talk baby names, registries, and nurseries but I feel like it's too soon. Especially since I don't know gender.

I joined with the rest, but didn't get active until we started trying. My bmb from dd is dead over here.

I was part of the OG exodus in 2012 when the Nest imploded. My local Nest/Bump board formed our own proboards, and the national boards formed GBCN. At the exact same time we were gearing up to TTC, I saw a post on GBCN about GBCB and jumped over for the GKU board's infinite knowledge.

I was on TD while we TTC with DS and was on my bmb for a bit but kind of fell off the wagon. I started lurking again in December/January after we started TTC again and basically caught all the drama and migrated over here. But I just lurked TTGP for a very long time and finally joined the cycle before our bfp.

Totally agree. I would love to start talking about all of this stuff! We still have a few more weeks for BFPs to trickle in! I think the end of the month is when we will really start to pick up.

I came over with everyone else in January. I mostly participated on the baby names board, and lurked everywhere else. I had been on TD since starting to TTC DD under a different user name. I changed it because it was too identifying.

I have a lot of this stuff too, and a lot of it was from before bfp too. It's hard to not get super into it but there's really nothing else to do at this point. And we can't sit and live in fear for several weeks, so might as well dive in

I'm really surprised to see how many people are on GBCB considering it is a pretty secret forum spread through word of mouth. And I completely agree with PPs that this BMB is going to be awesome and lively as soon as we collect a few more members and more importantly once we're past this awkward waiting stage. I can't wait to have baby name discussions, see everyone's nurseries, etc. I think ultrasound photos will be the start!

I came over in January with my/ musicalsilver's awesome BMB. I must admit, though, that I can never quite keep up with everything on June 13, particularly the weekly spam thread that always seems to already have a double-digit number of pages by Tuesdays…I'm relishing feeling like I know what's going on over here while things are still relatively early. ;-)

I have a google sheet that has a tab each for potential boy and girl names.  It has the SSA and Name Nerd rankings since 2008 and calculates the change in popularity each year as well as the overall increase or decrease.  PS. If you haven't heard of Name Nerds, they group the SSA rankings by spelling and issue a TRUE ranking based on all possible spellings.  It's the best!! Their blog just posted the preliminary top 200 girls name from 2014. Sometimes it takes them a while to get the full list out, but it definitely gives a better picture of popularity.

Anywho... I came over during the mass exodus as well.  I had just ventured over to TD in hopes to join the Sept 15 BMB because I found out I was pregnant and that's when all of the shit hit the fan.

I too came over from TD. I was there for about 6 months when it imploded. I've been hanging out at GKU, but have been a bit more quiet lately while dealing with new infertility issues. Happy to be here.

DH and I have had a shared google doc with names since waaaay before TTC was on our radar.  We're weirdos.  I like the sounds of Name Nerds though SubtleGrandeur - I'll have to check it out!!

Well if we're making confessions...I have an excel spreadsheet of a list of things we will need. I've got basic nursery and baby care items, and then have a separate category for if we have a boy or girl, because we have a boy so we'd need far less stuff if we have another boy.

Lol I made a spreadsheet like that with a budget a few years ago when we were deciding to wait a bit to TTC, I should pull that up in a few months and see how well it's held up
