You touch it and it moves, keeps lo busy forever, I have no idea where dhs gramma got it I will try to find out. Here it is in action : vimeo.com/130097907
We try to keep it fairly simple and give DS about two things at a time and rotate frequently. We sort of rotate through playmat, jumparoo, and playtime on a blanket to practice sitting up or crawling. In the carseat or stroller we rotate through tag blanket, wubanub, and Sophie. We have some soft blocks and soft "books" that DS likes to hold while sitting in boppy or on a blanket. I also introduce either the 360 cup or a straw sippy during playtime.
My LO loves his jumperoo and John Deere tractor the most of all the things we have bought. The jumperoo he can spend 45 minutes at a time in, he loves to grab objects as he bounces, becoming quite the multi-tasker. The tractor has a lever that if pulled, lights go on and "smoke" is released. LO finds this the best thing ever and will turn it on and off over and over...as well as push the tractor around.
Now that the can sit up and sort of scoot a bit, he likes hanging out in his PnP with various toys scattered around, even the oldies like Freddie and items that came attached to the sit me up seat and his play mat. He discovered he can bash them together and create lots of noise. He loves those cloth books as well, and works hard on turning the pages.
I also sit him in his highchair with a few items on the tray, including cold teething toys, and that provides endless fun! And allows momma to clean and cook!
We do have a winkel that someone gave LO at 4 months. At 1st it was the most frustrating toy! LO kept trying to pull it apart and would even hook it on his toes and try pulling that way! Now it's a great bashing toy...
I know you were asking for actual toy suggestions...my long story short: I am finding placing LO in different "environments" (like highchair-stroller-PnP-floor-crib-jumper) to change things up has been more entertaining than actually getting new toys. We do have several "new to us" items that play music and light up, that I am able to have variety. I did buy him a baby iPhone for his 6 month birthday and he is so intrigued by sliding the screen back and forth and pressing for sounds/lights.

DD loves her O-ball, Freddie, her play mat and her jumperoo. She also loves these cheap toy maracas that went with DS's Halloween costume a couple of years ago. What can I say, she loves a fiesta!
We have the Winkel. DS loved it, but is starting to lose interest. His favorite toy now is this Oball football
Oball Activity Center FTW. My minion LOVES it. Activity Center
I have this activity center too. He loves playing the music. He gets frustrated not being able to pull all the toys off and put them in his mouth. He has a nuby teether ring he loves.
Loves the little police car that sings and plays sirens. I have to hide because he gets frustrated when he cant hold it for long. It is v tech and really meant for a track. He also is liking his oball activity center and is enjoying his tummy time.
How have I never seen this?! Must.look.away. My house already looks like a daycare center.
Ahhh same here! DH wants to sell our dining room furniture and make it a play room because our living room is getting out of control.
Our living room and dining room are one big room and there are toys/books/contraptions that stay in there all the time, plus all the crap DS brings out of his room. I don't even know why I bother decorating because you can't see it for all the primary colors and seizure inducing lights. But we have to keep the overlords children happy, right?
chicorojo That dog is awesome! I found it in the D14 store my searching "crawling puppy toy". It's the "Catch Me Musical Puppy" if anyone else is interested! LO still hates being on his tummy, so I'm hoping this toy will motivate him!
Miss Killjoy Baby KJ is so adorable!!! I love that seat! I regret getting the Bumbo instead of something like that.
jesster88 how's the cup going? I've been thinking of introducing one. LO tries so hard to hold his bottle.
eliz77 I was thinking of getting the iPhone toy, too! Suddenly he is always grabbing for ours. Great point about rotating environments. Right now we are so cramped in our apartment. Once we move and have more options than LOs room or living room floor, I think it will get much better.
@kelsz12 Love that pic! LO is all about the cats. They quickly learned to keep a large radius around the baby! He thinks they are squeeze toys. :-O
graybaby we have the oball football! I think LO will love the exersaucer. We are setting it up as soon as we move.
birch113 glad you found it ! I thought it was so stupid when she gave it to me when he was a newborn, but now I love it ! It keeps him so busy when it crawls away and he has to crawl after it.
birch113 DS is all about the cups. My parents bought him a Mickey Mouse straw cup and he goes nuts panting trying to grab it. Cups are his favorite object, so it helps us so much to divert his attention to his own cup so that he isn't grabbing ours as much.
This is a great post and I'm getting a ton of ideas. I'm starting to feel like LO's toys are all getting a little stale. We also don't have room for a whole lot, so I want to get them selectively. Right now we have the jumperoo, Mortimer the Moose (lamaze), a puppy (not the crawling one) that says different things when pressed in different places, some rattles, balls, a fisher price tamborine & maraca set, etc. The puppy is a new one from DH's step-mom and I can tell LO is more interested because it's new, which surprised me at this age. I've also been putting him in the high chair and just giving him a plastic bowl and spoon, or sippy cup, to play with.

LO likes her baby einstein jumperoo and piano playmat.
She also seems to enjoy this toy. It talks and sings when you move it. Just don't bump into it in the middle of the night...it'll scare the crap out of ya!
