I had GD with my last pregnancy. If you can't get the exact nutritional information, it's probably fine to estimate with information you can find online. Often apps like my fitness pal will tell you the protein and carbs in various foods.just do the best you can! Worse comes to worse if you have one high reading it's probably not the end of the world, you just know what you can and can't handle for next time.
Good luck! GD can be a pain in the ass sometimes. I remember being at a very fancy restaurant and having to ask the waiter to ask the chef to measure out my mash potato portion…
A 45 carb limit isn't a lot to work with but it's doable here. If I were you, I'd have the grilled beef patties and skip the BBQ and teriyaki simply because there is sugar in the sauce which will up your carb intake. Lettuce, tomatoes, onions, cheese, and mayo are totally safe. Hamburger buns are generally about 30 grams of carbs so you really have to decide if the bun is worth it to you. Do they have a cut vegetables that you could dip into the hummus? I only ask because chickpeas have carbs in them and adding pita chips to that would really tip the scale at an additional 35 carbs. 1 whole piece of pita bread is 30-35 carbs. Fruit is very good for you but is typically about 15 grams of carbs depending on what you get and how much.
Good luck with your diet choices and remember to have fun!
And keep in mind that it's impossible to be perfect 100% of the time. If you go a little over, you'll be okay. Start over tomorrow and really buckle down from there. Just try your best to stay within in range but don't beat yourself up over it either.
t1green that is really helpful, thanks! Yes, 45 isn't a lot, but that's what I was told for dinner, and no, I don't think there will be sliced veg :-(
I should be there early to set the party up so maybe I can order some sliced veg on the side. That might not be too expensive. Worse case maybe I can dip tomatoes in hummus, haha.
The carbs in the hummus is where I was getting confused because it varies. Some people online were saying it's a high carb load and some saying low, but I guess it's the amount of chickpeas in the recipe plus whatever wlse goes into it.
It's a little frustrating that they didn't order a salad bar this year. Last year they did, so I am not sure why they skipped it this year. We still have vegans and vegetarians here.
Do you know what was pure torture? They sent the pregnant sweet-fiend who can't eat many sweets now to go buy the bulk candy for the party because we put piles on each table 9and I live right by the cheapest store and had to go walk my dog anyway). Here I was grabbing scoops of reeses mini cups and hersheys kisses and flavored tootsie rolls and I can't really touch them. $60 in candy in my hands and I put two reeses minis in my belly at snack time (worked into my carb count and because my post lunch reading was 93 so I figured I was fine) as a treat to cheer me up.
Oh man. That's torture! Stay away from the candy table. Ha!
I don't think hummus is that big of a carb load but you could definitely get in trouble with what you're dipping with. I think you'd be safe with ordering the veggie tray if they let you go that route. Or you could always smear it on your beef.
I personally would have a cheeseburger without the bun, just pile what I want on top and use a fork. That way I could have one small serving of fruit and some pita chips and dip. Like someone else said occasionally going over a few carbs is not the end of the world.
If you feel like you over indulged you could always take a walk after.
t1green said basically what I was going to say. Another option id suggest is to have your burger "open face" so you're only eating half the bun. The bottom of a burger bun is usually the smaller portion too.

I do that sometimes too! Or I will cut my sandwich in half, take the top bun off and put together the two bottom half so it's like half of a double cheeseburger.
@deziniki my niece is diabetic and my sister uses an app/website called "calorie king" to look up the amount of carbs certain foods have. She uses the app to log what my niece eats everyday, and the information is even submitted to her doctor. Just a thought to help you make quick decisions or when you're in a bind like today!
