Curious if anyone has insight- my last beta was 117 on 6/1. I'm scheduled to go in Monday but I started spotting yesterday and it sure seems like my period has started (yea!), although flow is definitely different than "normal". But the office says I need to come in to document that my numbers are down and this might be residual- not my period.
My D&C was 5/11 and they said 4-6 weeks for a period to return. I'm was wondering if anyone has experience with this.
I can't remember my exact numbers, but I got my first bleeding about 5 weeks after my MMC. I think my beta was like 4. I did not have a D&C, so I'm not sure if that makes a difference. My first bleeding was light for a few days, then stopped, then got really heavy for about a week, then stopped for a few days, then was light and spotty. All told it lasted 23 days. Hope they have some answers for you! Keep us posted!
jmc11511. Oh wow, I did not expect that type of bleeding. I guess I really don't know what to expect.
I'm anxious to have my period because we are moving to ivf in the fall if need be, and I don't want to miss too many months trying. Especially since I'm AMA.
I had a cytotec-assisted MC so I don't have any experience with a D&C, but my first period post-loss was exactly 1 month after my MC was considered to be complete. I passed the pregnancy tissue on 4/14 and confirmed via ultrasound on 4/17 that it was complete. My first post-loss period began on 5/17 and it did seem to be a bit different than usual. I tend to have fairly light periods and last month was heavier than I'm used to with considerably worse cramps than before. I hope your appt on Monday gives you some better answers!
I know I haven't been around here lately, but I felt the need to reply to this. I'm dealing with some tough stuff right now, but hopefully I'll be back to posting in about a month or so.
Here is my PSA: Please please please track your betas down to zero after a loss even if you've started your period. I had a natural MC in late Feb/early March and my betas took forever to go down. My last blood draw was at 8 and then I got my period a few days later. We all assumed that since I got my period, that my betas must have gone back down to 0, so I never went in for more blood draws. I had 2 heavy, but fairly normal periods after my loss. A few days after my second period, I started bleeding very heavily and then proceeded to have essentially the same experience as my natural MC for about a week. As it turns out, my betas never had gone back down to 0 and I got to have the lovely experience of essentially 2 natural MC within a few months. My level is now at 3, which my doctor is happy with, and my ultrasound is clear, so that hopefully should not happen again. If I would have known then what I know now, I would have been more persistent in getting in to document that I was back down to non-pregnant levels.
Anyway, I am going back to lurkdome for a little while, but I hope you all are doing well!
babyzebra, I'm so sorry to hear that you're having such a rough time. Good PSA though about the betas. My doctor didn't test after I confirmed that my MC was complete, so I may be making a call to her this week so see if we can check things out. Take care of yourself and know that we'll be here when you're ready to chat.

I needed a D&C 2 years ago for my first miscarriage because of retained tissue hanging out in my ute after taking misoprostol. I bled on and off after the D&C but ended up getting AF about 4 weeks after beta was at 0. Some women do ovulate through low betas so it is possible that you could have your period. Or it could just be your body trying to clear whats in your ute. Hopefully this is your period!!
