Hey ladies. This is an exciting time for us with our LO's starting solids. We've been on them since 4 months due to weight gain issues so I've had my trials and errors and we're getting a little bored with ideas. So I figured we could start a thread of recipes.
I started out buying Earths Best and Organic Gerbers to try out food he would like/dislike. Now I mostly make my own purées. I'd love to do BLW but so far he isn't taking it to it but LOVES his purées.
I'll start! My guy loves these two! -One banana in peel -2 apples sliced and peeled and sprinkled with a little cinnamon -Bake 350 for 30 mins -Peel banana and purée, add a little water to get to the desired consistency.
-1 banana in peel -handful of blueberries -bake on 350 for 30 mins -Purée and add water for desired consistency
These both freeze and thaw very nicely. Also, my son hates plain oatmeal/cereal so I add some to his purées and these mix in very well too!
I want to try mixing fruits but so far LO is NOT a fan of anything outside sweet potatoes, butternut squash and avocado. I did sneak some apples into the sweet potatoes, but that has been it.

I don't really follow any recipes. But here's how I've done some things: Butternut squash: cut in half lengthwise, scoop out seeds, sprinkle with pepper, place facedown in baking dish with a bit of water and bake until soft, scoop flesh out into blender and purée with a bit of olive oil. Sweet potatoes: bake whole until soft, let cool and peel, cut into chunks and purée in blender with dollop of coconut oil and a bit of water. Carrots: chop and toss with olive oil, roast, purée with a bit of water Salmon: poached with dill, chop finely or purée with a bit of water (puréed salmon is like cat food so I usually serve it mixed with squash or something) Chicken: bake and purée with chicken stock Peas, spinach etc is just steamed and puréed. I do a big batch at a time (of any food), so I don't season it much at the time of cooking because I don't want it to taste the same all the time. I will add a little something when I'm serving it.

I've just been doing fruits. Mostly mango, strawberry, bananas and peach. I just blend them up with a bit of ice like a smoothie. And of course she likes a bit of refried beans or mashed potatoes.
Wow- I feel like I've been holding back. My baby ended up being born in November so she's almost 7 months old and I've really kept her to single food puréed. Been making my own because she prefers a little more consistency, but have done no Imixung yet.
She really seems to just want real food. How much have you guys given "table food" or finger food?? Can she have bites of what I eating? Sorry...FTM and clueless.
I would love to make my own but I am afraid of buying another piece of equipment I dont use in my kitchen. Couldn't you just take your entire meal and blend it. Sorry no help here.
Btw my son loves all the stage 1 fruits and veges. He also is eating rice cereal. I think he will love all the foods so I will check out some recipes for you ladies. I think he will be eating table food soon.

You don't need anything more than a blender to make purees. If you already have a blender or food processor, you're good. You could even just use a masher.
I might just try it. I saw recipes with a masher so when I get the go ahead for stage 2 I might just see about it. I am so nervous about actual solids.
