Hi ladies,
After the weekly check-in question this week, I want to follow up with a few poll questions so we have a better idea of how to handle the dynamics here when it comes to sensitive subjects. I'm going to spam you all with some polls, in hopes that the responses will help us to create an official board etiquette sticky regarding BFPs, handling 'graduates', etc. so there's no confusion. I know we've talked about these things in the past, but we've never really come to a solid consensus. We've also never had an anonymous way to voice our opinions, so this will allow everyone to share their thoughts without feeling like they're being put on the spot if they don't agree with the majority.
With each question, I'll summarize why it's up for debate (ie. I'm taking everyone's feedback from the check-in question and the past conversations we've had so it's all compiled in one place - I'll try to leave my own opinions out and will add any other pertinent info. These questions are based on the conversations we've already had, but if there are any other things we should consider etiquette-wise, add a poll!
So here goes:
Question #1
Should BFPs be included in the weekly check-in?
Obviously, seeing a BFP while you're going through a loss or even if you're just having a tough time can be incredibly upsetting.
Based on past conversations, the majority of posters seem to be ok with including BFPs at the bottom of the check-in, a la CAL, provided that there is an accompanying trigger warning. This would allow users to scroll by if they aren't comfortable seeing a BFP, and it would allow our grads to share their news without AWing it.
Rule:
If it's wanted, I can add a trigger warning in the check-in title on any week that there's a BFP included. I don't know if the trigger in the title would be better or worse though, since then it could potentially be sitting at the top of the page for a while and provide a reminder. Thoughts?

Rule:
- Any congratulatory posts are to be directed to the CAR board once the poster makes an intro over there or via PM, NOT in the check-in thread.
