I've been pumping between 10-15 minutes every 2.5 to 3 hours and sometimes more frequently to up my sad sorry supply. What's a typical session for you all?
New to this board but I'm a reg on n14. I'm horrible and pump every 3-4 hours sometimes 5(pure laziness) sometimes 10(weekend sleep in). I get and average of 18-22oz. everyday. I just put fenugreek which I just realized I left and home and also some fennul and basil essential oils to help up my production. Sitting at my pump on the weekend for power hours and the every two hour thing are just unrealistic with my living situation. ETA at I pump for 20-30 mins at a time.
Another N14 here. I'm not a great example, but I pump 18-20 minutes every 3-5 hours during the day, 6-8 hours overnight (depending on how LO sleeps). First AM pump is about 3 oz or a bit more. During the day, it's 1.5 to 2.5 oz. I get 10-13 oz per day. Also on fenugreek.
Hmm. Maybe I should up the length? To be honest after 15 minutes my nipples are sore and the tank is dry. Makes it harder to convince myself to go longer.
pixie523 - that was the length given to me by the LC back in November. I haven't checked with her since.
Most women are pumping 15-20 minutes when this question has come up before. Or when the milk stops.
How much are you getting a day?
Ugh. On a good day I get almost 10 oz. I try to make myself feel better about this by remind myself that LO still nurses during the early morning when I'm the most full.
Now I only pump once/day for 30 minutes for maybe 8oz on a good day. LO nurses 2x/day and gets 3 other bottles (well, straw cup now) while i'm at work. I'm using up freezer stash. I used to pump 3-4x/day and nurse twice/day and at that time I would pump 20min each time.
I pump 7-8 times per day., for 15 minutes. My LC said to pump for 10-15. If I have to plan two pumping sessions close together, or occasionally in the MOTN I'll do 10 minutes.
I'm supplementing with formula because my supply isn't great still, but it's getting better. I've finally had some days where I break 20 oz since adding Mother's Milk Tea. I plan to start Fenugreek this weekend, so hopefully I'll have another increase. My goal is to be able to drop the formula.
I'm still getting milk at 15 minutes. Should I be pumping longer?
I pump every 2 to 3 hours for 15 to 20 minutes at a time. My baby is still quite the baby, only 8 days old, so I try to be very good about waking up at night at least every 3 hours to pump, and try to make it last through 1 netflix length episode of The Office, so about 22 minutes on those nightly pumps. Those tend to be my sessions where I get the most (for me that is almost 4 oz between the two sides). During the day I tend to get anywhere between 2 and 3 oz between both sides. Sometimes my milk flow will stop around the 7 to 8 minute mark for 2 or 3 minutes, but then start back up and go strong for another 5 or so minutes.

At the beginning, every 2-3 hours in daytime for 20-30 minutes (aimed for 20, but kept going if there were signs of another letdown or I was trying to increase production (usually). Every 3-4 hours overnight.
Later on, like back at work, it was every 4-5 hours (with 2 hours at home to help make up sessions), same overnight. 20-30 minutes.
By the time she was 8 months old, I was down to 4-5 sessions a day, so roughly every six hours, at least 30 minutes. If I went a longer time, then my session would be longer to fully drain the breast. The longest I ever pumped was during this time when I missed my normal pump time and edged into 8 hours and decided to just drive home and do it there and got caught in the aftermath of a traffic accident and it was nearly 11 hours between sessions. I thought my boobs might explode. They were so hard and full it was hard to get them into the flanges for proper suction. I pumped for at least an hour.
By 11 -12 months, I was decreasing sessions and length. 2-3 sessions, 15-20 minutes.
At the very end, I did a daily session, then every other day, then once a week, then done. About 14 minutes.
I'm pumping every 3 hours (have gone 5 twice by accidentally oversleeping). LO is two weeks old. I pump for about 20 mins give or take until the milk slows. My breakfast time pump I usually go for a good 30-40 with a heating pad and massaging to really empty out. I'm currently getting about 4-6 oz total pet session and LO eats 1.5 oz roughly every 2 hours. I have even built up a little freezer stash!

Everything I've read says that prolactin hormone levels are higher at night so your milk volume should be higher as well.

I pump for 25 minutes every four hours except overnight when I go seven hours. I do a power pump every morning and that really seemed to help increase my supply (in the beginning I was doing a power pump for the first and last pump of the day, but have stopped pp for last pump since my milk seems to have regulated. My LO is seven months old though)
For the first 6 months of LO's life, I did 30 minutes every 3 hours of the day and only pumped overnight when he woke up. Since then, I've decreased to 4 times per day and just this week to 3 times per day, but now I pump for almost an hour in the morning in evenings. The long pumping times were on the advice of an LC because I was only getting an ounce or so per session in the very beginning and she just said to pump longer. Now I get about 8 oz per session, but I expect that to decrease as my body adjusts to the dropped pumps.

I pump every 3-4 hrs for at least 20 mins each time, while I'm awake. During the night, she nurses but I do have a manual pump by my bed so if she goes for a really long stretch and doesnt empty both breasts I can just pump off that side. I usually get 2-3 letdowns in that time. LO eats about 5 bottles a day 5oz each.
6 weeks EPing and I pump 6x a day 20 min each time. Normally start first session somewhere between 4-6am, then every 3 hours after that but sometimes 4 because I always like my last pump to be no earlier than 10pm so I can go to bed emptyish. I get anywhere from 35-40oz a day. LO takes about 25-30oz
Another N14 here. I do 10 minutes every 3 hours. I only pump for one letdown, because like you I feel sore after 10 minutes. However, I usually get a minimum of 4.5oz in that time, sometimes up to 7.5oz.

M14 here - I pump 4-5 times a day for 30 minutes. 40 minutes before bed. I used to only pump for 20, but I get .5-1oz more in those last ten minutes, so it seems worth it. It helps that I don't use a Medela anymore (ouch!) I use a Spectra. I also supplement with formula now that my freezer stash is gone, and I don't pump MOTN ever (gross). He used to nurse for that feed, but now he won't so I have lost a little supply, but my first thing in the morning pump is better.
If you aren't getting out much other than drops after 10-15 minutes, I suggest you slowly work yourself up to more time but adding a minute or two a day or something like that and see if it helps your production.

I pump three times a day 7:30am, 2:30pm and 9:30pm. Each session is about 30-40 minutes depending on output. I always hit the let down button at least once during session which definitely helps. I tend to get an average of 30oz a day, but am hoping to increase my supply back where it used to be (40oz a day) to get a freezer stash going again. I'm counting down the time until I'm done with this. Little will be 8 months in a week which means I've got four more months. Started drinking medical strength fennel tea yesterday and so far today I'm up about 2 ounces (but am still attached to the pump so hopefully a bit more) I'm also working on upping my calorie and water intake, as I was lacking a bit and that definitely impacted my supply.
My LO is currently 5 m/o. When I first started EPing around 6 weeks old, I would pump every 3 hours for 15 to 20 minutes. After 12 weeks PP and my supply was established, I changed to pumping 4 times a day. I pump once int he am when I wake up, once around lunch, once round dinner, and once before bed. I plan on continuing with this schedule until LO is 9 m/o then I am going to slow it down to twice a day (morning, night).
I found lecithin helped speed up my pumping (I took it because I was prone to clogged ducts) but I still pumped on average 30 minutes with a Medela symphony. I had multiple let downs and no issues letting down for the pump, my milk just seemed to flow slowly I guess. I pumped 8 times a day (2 MOTN) for 3 months, then 7 times/day (1 MOTN) for 2 months, and then down to 6, 5, and settled on 4 PPD by 6 months without any loss in ounces. I still pumped the same amount of time give or take- 4 hours- even when dropping pumps to keep up my supply.
D14. Pumping 8x/day for 20 min/session, for an average output of 28-30 oz. Baby takes about 25 oz/day right now. Will cut down to 7 pumps per day at 3 months and see from there. Looking forward to dropping an overnight session.
I pump till the flow stops (usually 20-30 minutes). I dropped to pumping 7 times a day when my twins hit three months and so far I am still able to keep up with them feeding wise. So I am producing somewhere around 48-50oz a day. (I stopped tracking it because it would stress me out seeing dips in production. I did however just start back to work this week so I am thinking I might try fenugreek just to keep my supply up because I am little worried about it dipping with a more inconsistent pumping schedule now.
6 months post partum, 5 or six pumps a day, average about 30 minutes each time. I get about 35-40oz a day. Keep going until breasts are "empty" and not flowing.
