Good morning ladies! We had a scary night last night with 4 tornadoes touching down in the surrounding area, one about 5 miles from our house. Thankfully we had no damage and there were only minor injuries.
My husband left this morning for a conference so I'm on my own until Thursday night when Max and I are flying to meet him in Washington DC. I'm nervous about flying by myself with Max but hopefully it will go well.
Now to get through 3 crazy days of work before vacation! Have a great day everyone
Good luck spikesmom! Glad everything is okay. Hope there are no more tornadoes!
I'm in a crappy long meeting this morning. Having almost no commute for the salon and working from home this hour long drive in rush hour traffic sucked! I feel for you ladies with long commutes.
Oh and the ac is so goddamn cold in here. WHY DO THEY DO THAT. I don't want to have to wear shorts outside and then put layers on inside. I didn't bring layers!

spikesmom, Glad you were all ok last night! Tornadoes scare me to death... I even have frequent dreams about them!! And good luck this week. I am sure you guys will do just fine .
Yesterday during Levi's last nap the fire alarm in his bedroom started chirping. He slept right through it, but when I tried to change the battery he woke up with only a 15min nap. Eh... he did ok though. HOWEVER.... at 1:40 last night the stupid thing started chirping again!!! We ended up just taking it down and luckily L didn't wake up this time... but it was still annoying! My sister and nephews are coming over today. It's supposed to be a gorgeous 77 degrees today. Hope the weather's nice around all of you and you can enjoy the day today
Glad your safe from all the tornadoes. They can be incredibly frightening. I used to live in a house that only had a slab foundation - it added a great deal of stress when the storm warnings came in. Now that we have a full basement, the stress and worry isn't quite as severe.
A question/complaint about baby clothes: anyone else notice that size 9-month is really hard to find? I ended up ordering more 12 month shorts than 9-month for LO. Hopefully they aren't too big. Also, why do so many sets come with 2-3 shirts and 1 bottom? And shopping for bottoms only leaves a small selection.
sjp03 yes yes yes. Liam wears 12-18 now but 9month anything was hard to find. And at target they have a full wrack of little girls bottoms but only one option that isn't quite 'matchaable' to anything in the boys wracks. It's quite annoying
jax1182014 Sick babies are the worst Hope she feels better soon.
sjp03 I haven't had that problem, but LO was only in 9 month clothes for about a month. I have noticed the whole "multiple shirts, one set of bottoms" thing though. I try to avoid those sets. Right now LO pretty much lives in either onesies or rompers, so I'm not dealing with bottoms at all.
I am feeling a little better today! I've been able to rest quite a bit, so that has helped.

sjp03, Yep... I've noticed that too. And I really can't stand how 80% of the baby clothes out there is made for girls and that the boys clothes just seem like an after thought. Hey psst.... baby clothing manufacturers we want our boys to look cute too!
It's been quite some time since I've posted here, I lurk a bit. I've pulled away from the boards a bit. summer is here so I'm not cooped up inside, work has been busy=no internet time and LO is always after the phone or computer, so I try not to use them around him.
I'm still pretty boring, same shit different day :-)
spikesmom glad you guys are safe. Good luck on the flight this week.
sjp03 the combo of multiple tops and 1 bottom drives me nuts. My mom and MIL have been buying 9 months since March so I feel like it's a size you need to buy early.
DH is taking DD to lunch with his grandma and I'm glad I don't have to go.
Glad everyone is okay spikesmom! I hope the rest of your week at home is much less eventful- vaca countdown!! It's a good thing you don't have to commute often jjh1119! I'm investing in some educational CDs so I can do double duty on my evening drives. I already make use of the morning drive by talking to my mom every day. In re: A/C, I have my space heater running right next to me at this very moment. I use it in the summer, and hardly ever in the winter! Damn A/C. jax1182014 ?colds! Hopefully it passes quickly. sjp03 I've only purchased a handful of outfits myself- we have a ton of hand-me-downs and gifts, so we've been extremely lucky. I believe most of our 9-month stuff is from department stores or carters. I want this Tuesday to be a good one for us all; I'm willing it to be so!!
Commutes are pretty awful. That's why I love Tuesdays. WFH, get to pop in and kiss my baby. Don't have to rush through breakfast, dressing, etc. etc. I've got to remind myself about Tuesdays when I want to tell my job to suck it... sigh.
sjp03, most of our summer wardrobe is hand me downs too. I've got a friend at work who has a daughter a year older than LO so we get TONS of clothes on loan from her. It's nice, but sometimes I miss the opportunity to shop.

Hey KMW08, I've been thinking about you, glad to see you pop in.
spikesmom, if I recall correctly, you're in the same state that I'm in. We heard the sirens last night as well. Right as I was going to bed. The storm was north of us, though, so we didn't do anything. H stayed up late and watched the weather, I crashed and slept like a rock.
M's schedule is all screwed up from the late night on Saturday. I need to fix that.

I would love to be able to WFH more but I would also find it hard to have the discipline to get things done.
Most of lo's clothes are hand-me-downs. He has a cousin that is about 6 months older. However, most of the clothes he fits into now are what his cousin wore last Thanksgiving. The summer clothes are too small. It is exciting to finally get the opportunity to shop for LO, but it is also really frustrating to find what I need.
sjp03, I spend way too much time here on Tuesdays/Fridays... but I tend to hide in my room or relocate to a coffee shop when I really have to get shit done. I also learned to not beat myself up for not getting more house stuff done. Once in a while I'll get a load of laundry started or tidy a room, but for the most part I'm pretty diligent about working.

That sounds terrifying spikesmom, I can handle an earthquake ANY DAY ... but you start talking about tornadoes and hurricanes and I'm ill prepared. Glad everyone is ok!
As for the baby clothes, part of me wonders if there are so few options in 9 months because babies don't stay in that size for very long? My LO can wear 9 month onesies but not pants (too short). He's mostly in 12 month right now. I get a lot of clothes from my sister (nephew is 9 months older) but we run into the opposite season issue as well. Plus my nephew was pretty mobile by the time he was 12 months, so a lot of his pants/sleepers are well worn. I tend to buy clothes when I see a good sale, in advance. I've got a section in LO's closet with new clothes hanging up in the next size(s) ready to go.
We've had 2 major milestones in the last 24 hours. LO has figured out how to go from lying on his back to sitting up. If he's on his back, he rolls onto his tummy, gets up on his hands and knees and rocks back onto his butt. I'm pretty sure we are mere days away from crawling (I'm not ready for a completely mobile baby!!!) He has also started sleeping until 2 am!! The last 2 nights he has only woken once or twice after that. He nurses a few minutes and goes right back to sleep. I'm rather thrilled about this. 4 hours of straight sleep seemed unattainable. I'm hoping this lasts!!
Oh my gosh ninergirl52! I'm impressed with the milestones! I can't WAIT for consecutive hours of sleep! Oh! You guise, I forgot to tell you! The other night when we went on our date, I got the "she'd sleep a lot better if you'd give her cereal. But, you know, it's your call." Thanks. Yes, it is.

I def luck out on the WFH because my H is my boss. So, I pretty much have days where I do only house/ only work/ only Liam. And sometimes only house and only Liam days are all I get to in a week. My paycheck is pretty shit too lol. So he gets what he pays for ;-). I get the important stuff done
ninergirl52, as someone who's been hanging out with a mobile baby for a week or so? it's the BEST WORST. LO rocked on her hands and knees for two weeks, then just... moved one day. It sounds like it's not too far for you! I've found that babies love cords, lamps that will tip over, finding the places you haven't dusted and touching them.

DD is still moving backwards and I'm a bad mom because I laugh when she hits a road block and can't move any further back.
Also for 9 month clothes My mom had the best luck with a large selection at once upon a child. Plus it's way cheaper. DH has a co-worker whose done having kids and so we get totes of handme downs that don't have to be returned with each new size.
There are tons of babies in our family but no hand me downs because we are all the same age and hoping for more children so we each hoard our own clothes lol
Liam is not crawling quite like a normal crawl. He goes into crawl position scoots forward a bit then goes into sitting position and then back on hands and knees and then back to sitting all while inching forward. Almost like as if he is doing really bad cart wheels haha. It's interesting. But he is trying to stand up. If he is close to something to climb, he will do it!
Glad you avoided the brunt of the storms, spikesmom. jjh1119 Yes, commuting is sucky. jax1182014 HOpe she feels better soon. sjp03 I can't stand the 2-3 tops to 1 bottom ratio. KMW08 Glad to see you pop in. ninergirl52 Yay for sleep! MsNicole06pixie523 I used to be able to plunk LO down on her activity mat while I pumped. She'd play and we'd be good. Nowadays, she gets jammed under the sofa, up against the dog's pillow, or just too far away from me when I'm on a 3 foot tether of pump tubing.
Liam and I just shared some yogurt. I eat the Icelandic stuff- the best tasting stuff on the planet. He's like a begging puppy when I eat it. It's adorable.
