Can we make this an ongoing thread? Maybe we could do check ins for every kind of birth? Repeat c section, homebirth, drug free, etc. I think I want to attempt vbac so I'd love to have a place to come for questions and support
I think there is a good number hoping to VBAC! I'll be talking to my dr next week about how she goes about it. (How long she lets you go, does she induce, etc)
I would highly suggest you guys check out www.vbacfacts.com. They have some good information/resources that really helped me ask my potential care providers the right questions last time. Your local ICAN chapter is a good place too.
Yay! I'm glad a lot of others are interested in this. I will be asking my OB about it at my first appt. When I ended up having a c section last May, she told me that she supports vbac and then at my appt in Feb she said as long as I get pregnant no sooner than 1 year since my last delivery, it would be fine. I got pregnant pretty much exactly 1 year after delivery.
I'm on the fence if i'm even allowed or giving the option. I have a few factors going into this pregnancy that I feel like wont give me an option unless everything is perfect.
Me! I'm really hoping to VBAC. I've touched on the subject briefly with my doctor during my annual exam a few months ago. I have my first appointment today so I'm hoping to go into more detail and the logistics of how it will work because they don't VBAC in my town. I'll have to travel about 1hr 15min so I am mainly concerned how that will play out.

I hope your talk goes well today and you can get the logistics figured out!
I'm hoping to. I had the c-section because my daughter got stuck (she's always had a 90%+ head) and they labeled it as failure to progress. I feel like that's not entirely accurate because I was dialated to a 10, effaced and I pushed for a few hours.
The on-call was not my doctor and I really did not like her so she didn't tell me much. I asked at my 6 week visit but that was also a year and a half ago so I'm not entirely sure the conversation although I think my ob may be okay with it or waiting until closer to the edd to decide.
I'm on the fence about whether to do a VBAC or not. I had a very hard and long labor with my daughter ( I was induced Monday morning and they finally took her by c section on Wednesday). I want to try again, but we'll see. I have a lot of thinking to do.
My parents are trying to talk me into doing another section so it can be planned and they will know exactly when to be at the hospital. Umm...no! Its my baby and my body. I want that bonding experience of having the baby with me right after birth.

My ILs are like this. Guess who didn't know my induction date.

I just don't understand why they think I'm birthing a baby on their time schedule. They were probably joking a little but they have brought it up more than once. I told them that I'll let them know when the baby is born and they can come to the hospital then. My dad said no. Last time they were at the hospital for like 6 hours, drove home an hour away to sleep and we called them about 2 hours later when I was at 8cm (my mom wanted us to) and they drove an hour back. It was so nice having them there but I don't want to feel like I'm inconveniencing anyone.
I think I'm hoping for a VBAC and therefore less recovery from a c/s... I had a c/s with DS because I was considered high-risk (late diagnosed GD) at the end of my pregnancy, but man, he was a gigantic baby with a gigantic head and shoulders (they had to make my c/s incision larger because they could not manipulate his shoulders out!) And then I had a complicated recovery.

Lurking here since I'm a FTM but I wanted to throw this out... Have you guys thought about getting a doula for your birth? I have been researching them for completely different reasons but quite a few of the ones I looked at listed VBAC births as a specialty. I don't know if that is something anyone of you would be interested in, I thought it was super hippie until I started researching them.

I have totally been researching them! It would be great to have someone else there that is completely on my side.
I talked VBAC with my dr this afternoon. She will allow me to go to 41 weeks before doing a NST. From then we would decide what would be the best way to go!

I finished my doula training earlier this year. They can be a great resource, especially for a VBAC candidate.
I think there are some misconceptions about what they are and what they do, and you can certainly find one who is "super hippy" but it's really changing. It's not for only pro-natural birth advocates anymore, you can literally find doulas for every kind of birth there is.
