Seriously for like 6 months I had Gage convinced that ice cream snickers were vegetables. I was so sad the day he found me out. H gave him a bite of his! He wasn't in on my lie. No more eating them in front of him in peace.

That's it's a great accomplishment for me to pee on the potty. She always wants to come with me and I made a big deal out it. She'll say "You did it!!" and get excited for me. I wonder if she thinks I just learned how too.

Green smoothies are ice cream, why we can't do stuff. I can't think of any, but I have gotten really good at thinking quick on my feet when we can't / don't want to do something.

A lot already on here. Yogurt in the freezer is ice cream, I put milk in a cup and shake it and call it a milkshake, this toy doesn't work, we're all going to bed now.
He really likes to Facetime and always wants to call Grandma but I know when she's busy and tell him "Grandma's sleeping, let's not wake her up" and he accepts it and moves on.
this wasn't me (obvious) but did anyone listen to the This American Life right before Christmas about a family where the parents went ALL out on Santa and had their kids convinced until junior high Santa was real?

That's pretty awesome! I read a whole bunch of transcripts of This American Life MOTN nursing T. It was the only thing that could keep me awake. Thanks for reminding me, I have to go look them up again

At night time when he asks where the sun went, I tell him it's sleeping, so that means we have to sleep soon too. Then when I put him to bed I tell him I will see him when the sun is up. Every morning he wakes up yelling "the sun's up mommy!" I'm going to regret that when the sun is up earlier.

Oh he has this one shirt that is his favorite. It's a blue shirt that says "I love my cat" on it. He calls it his "ABCDEFG" shirt because there are letters on it. Well, it doesn't quite fit him anymore and he always is asking to wear it, so I have to constantly tell him it's dirty so he can't wear it.
FC: I looked on the Old Navy website to see if they still sell it so I could get a bigger size, but they don't.
Then there is the sleep fairy lie... but she gets results so she stays.
Please explain, this sounds marvelous!
Its a book, you can order it on amazon. Our pedi recommended it. Pretty much its about two girls and they stall at bedtime, more hugs, drinks, ect. And once they stop the sleep fair comes and leaves them a treat/ prize. After the kid gets the concept you just read the sleep fairy poem before bed, not the whole book. G was stalling until 11 pm every night. After 4 nights of the book he goes down easy. Our pedi said it works best with 3-6 year olds but worked great for us. We used stickers, cars, little animals. He was so excited to look in the morning under his pillow. He has faded off from asking so we have stopped except for when he gives us a hard time then we read it and he usually stops and goes to bed and he gets a treat.
That we will be visiting my parents (Grandpa and Mimi) soon. Usually it's right before bed so I say "tomorrow maybe we'll see them" It's not a complete lie since they live so close it's very possible that we could see them, but it suffices her to go to bed.
I'm sure there are more but that's the one that's happening most often now.

I have used almost all of those listed above on a regular basis!
One of her more recent things is if I tell her we're all out she says "We go buy more at the store!" Which is so clever of her, so I have to reply with "The store is closed right now, so we can't."
I think she picked that up after we told her we had to buy her boots before she could play in the snow... and while at the store she wanted to wear them and take tags off, and we told her we had to pay for them first, then we could put them on... girl is getting too smart!

That fruity snacks are like vitamins. You can only have 1 pack a day or you can get sick. That netflix is broken. Daily. That my phone isn't like others peoples and it doesn't have games. That I love mIL too.

I really don't consider them "lies" more so fibs. I also do it on a daily basis. Terrible. When it thunders it's because she isn't listening or talking back. If she picks her nose it will fall off. Gum is only for daddy. We can only eat ice cream on the weekends. I can really go on and on.

I just did the broken Netflix lie yesterday. One can only take so many Daniel Tiger episodes--especially when it's the same one over and over.

justbeth We do that to. Everyone "naps" during nap time.
That the candy lining the check out isles is not food. That the TV is broken when she wants it on again. That my arm is hurt when I don't want to pick her up and carry her around.
He had no idea his daddy drinks coke all day- he calls it his "yuck" and because of the brown color he believes it. I prefer water so mine's always safe to take a sip of. He's actually stopped himself before and been like "oh- that daddy's yuck"...

He is overly obsessed with Mickey so I frequently tell him when he asks to watch it, that Mickey I went night night it is taking a nap or simply just that the TV is broken. And whenever ineant him to eat a meat that he doesn't willingl want to try, we say that it is a chicken nugget since he likes them so much.
