Avery refused to give up nursing. She was 23 months and was still nursing. One day I told her my boobs were broke and she believed me. I kept up with the lie until she stopped asking.
We tell DD#1 that Kevin is going to come babysit her when she's being naughty/argumentative. Kevin is a former coworker of DH's that DD#1 has hated for a long time. Funny thing is he is really a nice guy. He even babysat her on a few occasions when she was little. He also lives about an hour away now, so there is no way he'd be coming to babysit. She just hasn't figured it out yet.

Some nights when I can't get her to sleep and she doesn't want me to leave her room I tell her "if you go to sleep I'll come back in 5 minutes with milk but only if you go to sleep." Poor thing. If she doesn't fall asleep I do go check on her so she doesn't think I'm a total liar but I just say "ok no milk cause you aren't asleep"

Oh I forgot about the sleep fairy!! We didn't even buy a book but just told her that the sleep fairy comes if she stays in her bed all night long. If she gets up in the middle of the night then the fairy can't leave a treat under her pillow. It's usually fruit snacks.

How has it worked?! I hope well, such a smart lie
Sorry I'm way late in seeing this, it's going really well!! We actually don't mention it much anymore unless she's getting worse overnight and needs a reminder. If she asks in the morning then we'll sneak something under her pillow, but it's not even a daily thing anymore.
Today's lie was that the kitty (raccoon) on the road was sleeping.
