Idk how into "war" books anyone would be, but we just read Unbroken in my book club. It was good. Have yet to watch the movie, so idk how well they translated it.
Other suggestions - All the Light we Cannot See, Every Breath (like a young adult Australian Sherlock Holmes), Uglies (another YA, sorry, I read a lot of it!), Cuckoo's Calling (can't go wrong with JK), Me Before You (kind of a romance), First Grave on the Right (urban fantasy/chick lit)
We just read Dark Places in the TTGP book club last month and I just can't do another Gillian Flynn.
"Room" recently finished filming up near a church near my in-laws' place in Canada, so it's on my to-read list. Finished "All The Light We Cannot See" and loved that, so I'd recommend it. I have "Ringworld" (sci-fi) on my re-read list, and... about 400 other books. Goodreads and I, we have a relationship.

They're turning Room into a movie? Oh dear Lord, no - that book wrenched my heart out. While I thought it was good, it was incredibly hard to read.
I am also an avid GoodReads-er! Love that site. I'll read just about anything & looking forward to the poll!

I'm in shock that they adapted this book into a movie -- I read it like 3 years ago and I still think about it sometimes, disturbing and heartbreaking.

I posted this earlier on the Book Club board:
How about The Island Beneath The Sea by Isabel Allende? She is one of my favorite writers, famous for novels such as The House of the Spirits and City of the Beasts. And they have a Kindle edition.

There's a book club board?
I just found it today. Look on the Board Index to the left, under Special Interests
I don't have any nominations, but just dropping in to say I plan to participate once a book is selected. I'll read just about anything but I feel a little out of touch with what's current.
