Hello all! I have been active in the Aug '14 group and we previously had a depression support group but it went pretty inactive and then the dump happened.
I was diagnosed with PPD about 4 weeks PP. Immediately started Zoloft and on the path to recovery. I weaned off Zoloft over Christmas as my goal was to be med free for the new year. I am in a much better place now that I don't need Zoloft but I of course don't feel 'cured'. I find it frustrating that DH and other family members think I'm all better since I no longer take anything.
I'm glad you're feeling better. It's frustrating when people don't understand that you are instantly "fixed" when you get off meds. It is a struggle. Good luck on your journey.
Congrats on the huge steps you're making. It might help trying to talk to DH about your feelings. Even if other family members don't get it, it would feel better to have DH on the same page. Unfortunately though, it's probably not going to be the only time people don't understand our struggles with mental illness. Hang in there, it sounds like you're doing great!

Hi!!! It took quite a few years and rebounds of depression for my husband to realize I will most likely always deal with depression. So maybe they just need some time and reading material on it. I think it's great you are doing so well after stopping meds!
I had PPD and used zoloft too! I'm still on an SSRI but get that it's hard for others to understand just because you may look and even act fine that there isn't anything wrong. I'm from the Jan 14 board.
