I've suffered from migraines since 3rd grade. During my last pregnancy, after about the first 8 weeks or so they completely stopped, but until then they were very intense. So far this time around I've only had one or two, but I'm afraid that they're going to get worse instead of better for a while. I can't take any of my medication (preventative or for treatment) that I have been on, and I know we can't take anything but Tylenol. I'm going to ask my doctor if there's anything else I can take, but until then, I'm stuck. Does anyone else get migraines? Is there something your doing to prevent or control yours? I'm willing to try almost anything!
I also have migraines, but they aren't super super severe, just regular bad. I had 1 bad one so far and one more mild one. For me dehydration is a big trigger so just trying to stay hydrated helps. When I do get one taking a really hot shower in the dark can help, running my head under the hot water. It's definitely temporary relief but it can help you through the worse bits

I get migraines! I have been having tension headaches starting every afternoon and lasting until I go to sleep.
What I've been doing is literally going to sleep when I can. I have been having a couple warm baths a day making sure my neck up to the base of my head is covered when I'm soaking. Then I also put a cold pack on my neck.
I get occasional migraines, but they are usually related to my period. When I was pregnant with DS, I would get headaches nearly everyday early in the pregnancy. They are starting again. Like awkwardturtle, they happen in the afternoon until I go to sleep. Tylenol, a coke and a massage help a little.
But for a full-on migraine your doc might prescribe something stronger, I've even heard that some docs prescribe vicodin during pregnancy to help.
Ask your OB if your usual migraine med is safe to take during pregnancy. I've never had one, but have taken care of a lot of patients with them. I hope they go away and stay away soon!

What I'm on isn't safe during pregnancy. For now I'll keep trying hot baths and lots of rest. Someone suggested going to the chiropractor to have my neck adjusted, I may try that as well.
I've wondered about that rablissful . Never knew if it actually worked. I'll give it a shot!
Try it, and if you can, lay in a DARK room with no electronics. I had chronic migraines growing up, sometimes being in a cave was the only thing that helped.

rablissful I had never tried the caffeine trick because I thought it was a bunch of crap. It's not completely gone, but between soda, a bath, and some Tylenol it is much better! Thanks!
