GUMMY BEAR!!!!
Measuring exactly. Heart beating like a champ. I forgot to ask what the HB was, I was so distracted by everything else. I'm so relieved everything is ok and the little dude is perfect!

Congrats SheilaTheTank yay for the little gummy bear!
I am back from my class thing. It was really good. They went over some of the philosophies of their practice, talked about what will happen at your first appt, nutrition and other basics. It was very interactive, which was also nice. The best thing, I thought is they gave us a list of when we will have every appt and what is done at that appt if your pregnancy is progressing normally. They also gave us a hand out about NT scan and Panorama. They said its totally up to you whether or not you have it. I have no idea how to make that decision, but other than that I felt really good about the class and the practice. H also enjoyed it and learned a lot, and we had a good discussion after!
So, I had my apt yesterday. It was pretty basic. The NP went over the basics, nutrition, dos and don'ts, etc - most of what she told me I remember from last time. Unfortunately I won't be able to see my little peanut until my next apt in August. But, we also did talk about the GD that I had with my last one and she said that they will probably test me earlier, and if I don't pass it, I won't have to take the 3 hour glucose test, they'll just start me with the monitoring and go from there. Thank goodness - that test was awful for me. I almost passed out because my sugar spiked so high. Other than that everything is going along swimmingly and I have an u/s scheduled for August. Yay!

Holy smokes, I LOVE my new doctor!! He specializes in infertility, which is one of the reasons I chose him. He was so understanding of our situation, and has an amazing treatment/care plan for me. We did a draw today for HCG and progesterone, and I'll go in again Wednesday to repeat HCG. Hopefully, those numbers come back great. Based on Wednesday's numbers, we'll set up my first appointment (hopefully around 6 weeks) for an U/S to check on things. From there, I'll be going in every 2 weeks until I hit 20-22 weeks or whenever I start to feel baby move consistently. Doc understands that having the losses changes the experience for us, and will do whatever we need to maintain sanity. I feel so much better knowing that we have this plan - hopefully, everything continues to go well!
Update #2 - betas more than doubled! Went from 256 on Monday to 547 Wednesday! First U/S is scheduled for 7/27. Woohoo!!

Update: Appointment went well. I'm measuring at 7 weeks and 1 day so my due date is officially 3/1. Beautiful heartbeat at 138. Just routine stuff plus breastfeeding exam & pap, most of what I remember from the first time. I scheduled my next two appointments. Shit's gettin' real.

Baby A is 6w2d with hb 118 Baby B is 5w6d with hb 116
So according to dr google the heartbeats are right where they should be for 6w5d. I asked him if the measurements were ok and he said within a week is good.
They only grew 4 days in a week - but it was a different person measuring so I guess that could contribute.
He also said "don't go telling the world it's twins" but then he said he tells everyone that...
I guess I can't do anything about this so I'm trying not to worry. My next appointment is in 2 weeks but I get to stop the progesterone and estrace in 12 days - yay!
He also gave me diclegis so hopefully that will help.
I just wanted to say something that may help calm your worries a bit.
The first time the OB measured my little gummy it was 8wk 6 days. The second time she measured, like a minute or two later it was measuring 8wks 3days. The measuring is definitely subjective, so it may vary greatly depending on the angle and person.

Congrats on a great appointment! Sorry if this is an ignorant question but what is a breastfeeding exam?

Ha! I didn't even know what I was I typing. I meant just a breast exam and now I realize my phone autocorrected to breastfeeding.

My confirmation appointment is tomorrow morning. I'm really hoping if I tell them I didn't ovulate on CD14 they'll consider a dating ultrasound at some point. LMP is not exactly accurate for a due date if you don't ovulate on CD14!
I'm having a hard time with the fact that there's no ultrasound, or even an attempt to hear the heartbeat until the OB physical appointment at 10-12 weeks. That's such a long time!!!
I realize I need to chill out and just wait and see what happens when I talk to them tomorrow, but the thought of waiting 1 1/2 - 2 months before we even get to see or hear anything is driving me crazy.
ETA: Sorry, just realized I've complained about this a few times already and I've only been on the board a week. I'll try to not keep whining about it for 5-7 weeks!! Can't promising anything, but I'll try!

LadyNymeria why are they having you go in so early then? You really should be able to hear the heart beat between 6-8 weeks. I don't go in until 8.5 weeks but will get an ultrasound then. It would make more sense for them to take you after 6 weeks to at least hear a heart beat. I feel your pain.
Ya. I don't get all the doctors not seeing people. I don't think they usually do but they can if you ask, no?
I have no idea but my gyn is not an OB but the office is a fertility specialist. So they see you at 5/6 and then 7-8 and send you on your way. Then I see my OB at 9 and nt scan between 10-13 so that's a while of scans.

You can only see a heartbeat at 6 weeks. It's an amazing little flicker that gives so much relief.
You can hear the heartbeat as early as 8 or 9 weeks but most wait till 10-12 because there's a better chance to hear it.

My office apparently likes to confirm the pregnancy themselves. As far as I know tomorrow is literally just a pee test.
Based on my drs website I don't think I go back until 8-10 weeks and that's just a medical history appointment. 10-12 weeks is the first physical exam where the ultrasound and listening for the heartbeat come in.
I did realize that maybe if I point out I don't have a 28 day cycle so LMP is not the best start point for my due date I might get something earlier than 10-12 weeks for dating purposes. Worth a shot at least.

Our healthcare works the exact same. Occasionally they'll offer a U/S for dating purposes but otherwise you get nothing but heartbeats until the a/s.
I'm in the same boat with the cycles but they did not listen last time I told them I had longer cycles so we'll see. Hopefully they'll help you more than mine!

Well just got to work after my confirmation appointment. No extra scans so I am stuck waiting until 9/2 before they even try looking to see/hear a heartbeat.
All they did today was make me do a pregnancy test in office then talked to me a bit about how I was feeling and scheduled my next couple appointments.
I go back on 8/13 for a family history appointment then 9/2 is an OB physical. The physical is basically the replacement of your annual exam and I believe that's the appointment where I can opt-in to the first tri screening which would then include an ultrasound and listening to the heartbeat. Obviously I will be opting in to that so I can have an ultrasound!!
47 days to go...
ETA: Based on my LMP and 32 day cycle they did confirm my EDD as 3/16/16 which is what Fertility Friend had been telling me based on my actual ovulation date.
ETA 2: On a positive note, my usual OB/GYN wasn't available for today's appointment so I met one of the other Drs in the office. I've always had a thing about having a female GYN, but this one was a guy and he seemed great! My BFF goes to the same office and said all the Drs were awesome during her pregnancy so it's nice to meet another one of the Drs and have a good first experience. I can't wait to actually tell my BFF about my pregnancy so I can pick her brain more about the Drs.

That's great! What a long time to wait to see the babe, though!
I also had a "thing" about having a female OB (surprise surprise, #feminism), but our doc is a man and he's awesome. It's a single-doc practice and he has a lot of experience, a low c-section rate, as well as a very qualified (female) backup doctor if he can't deliver himself, so we went with him. The other option on our insurance was one of two huge practices with about 10-15 docs on rotation, which was nms.
So can you opt to for first-tri ON August 13, or will it be more like September 2?

Confirmation of pregnancy appt with my dr. is pee then if that's + then u/s. But I went in early (too early) and they didn't see anything and lead to my freaking out for a week and getting blood drawn 4 times until I got a good view at 6w3d. They wont change your due date unless you are measuring way off, due dates are all estimates anyway.
Edit: I see I'm late to the game... I blame pregnancy brain

The first-tri screening would be part of the 9/2 appointment. I'm going to call them early next week and tell them I'm optin-in just to make sure I can get the ultrasound scheduled.
This practice is 8 drs, 4 male, 4 female. I don't know their stats on c-sections, but I know multiple people (including the previously mentioned BFF) that delivered with doctors from this practice at the same hospital I would deliver at and they've all indicated the drs were very focused on the patient's wishes and they never felt like they were pushed into anything. They do have a midwifery practice as part of the office, but since I'm already familiar with some of the drs I was just going to stick with them. All of their literature talks about how the drs and midwives are equally focused on trying to help you get the birth you're hoping for.
Plus if I decide later that I would prefer to switch to the midwives, it is an option.

That's awesome! There aren't any practices with midwives covered by our insurance. And if you choose an out-of-hospital birth, you pay 100% out of pocket.

Damn!!!
Even though I'm thinking I'll be sticking with the drs the whole time, it is nice to have the option to switch over if I'd like to. Like I mentioned earlier I'm dying to talk to my BFF about her experience with the different drs, but I haven't told her yet. I want to! But I feel like I can't until our parents know and I mentioned before, I can't tell my mom until I'm ready for the whole world to know.

LadyNymeria - With my first pregnancy, they called in a request to a maternal fetal medicine doc for the NT scan and the blood draw that goes along with it where they collect family history about anything genetic related and they sent results directly to me from their office. Good idea on calling early so you can be seen in the right time frame. After a certain number of weeks, they won't do it.
So I just had a not-encouraging call with my OB confirming my appointment for Monday... and the receptionist who called me had NO clue what the appointment was for, even though I'd had a long convo with them about it when I scheduled three weeks ago. Here's the convo:
Her: "Hi, Pugsandwine. We are calling to confirm your appt for Monday morning." Me: "Yes! Thank you. Do I need to do anything before the appt?" Her: "Ummm. No? Wait. What's your appointment for? I have you down for your annual." Me: "Noooo. I'm 7 weeks pregnant, this will be my first pregnancy appointment with her." Her: "Really?" type type type "Um... Hang on a sec." Me: .... Her: "Okay. You're good." Me: "So.... what are we doing on Monday? And again, do I need to do anything?" Her: "You're good. It'll be a lot like a pap smear and then we will do a sono. Thanks!" Hangs up Me: ... ... ...
