Re dieting/eating healthy. I'm learning to face the reality that I'm just not good at sticking to an actual diet. My new plan is to stop buying as much candy and junk food, really do meal planning and start running. When I took up running before my wedding I lost 40 pounds and actually really liked it. I'm hoping I can do the same this time, because I'm not going to give up Doritos, wine, or chocolate.
Found out today that I wasn't even taking enough fenugreek to make a difference. Efffffffff... so now we will really see if this helps. I'm going to smell like pancakes.

jellykat2 ultimately, which one made you feel better? That's the one to pick if you can afford both.
Here are my thoughts. 1. Proximity to home is super important to me. I don't want to use my baby time in a car and sharing pick up/drop off is a must for me. 2. What is the staff:baby ratio. Make sure you can feel like your babe gets enough attention. 3. I don't know how designated nap times work with babies our age. I would ask a lot of questions about that. If it works cool but it sounds weird. 4. Where are you moving?!? Come to TX biatch! 5. Dd will do great in daycare. It's you that will have a hard time.
jellykat2 Which one of the two have the best environment for your kiddo overall, aside from naps. Trust me when I say, your LO will figure out the nap thing. DD used to refuse naps at daycare, but now she will sleep on or in just about anything there.
Ok ladies who give yogurt to LO..did you do baby yogurt, regular plain yogurt, or Greek yogurt? And what age did you start. I've said this before I'd ask our pedi however he said not until 12 months so I'm going against him but don't know where to start. Thanks in advance!
We have always done plain Greek yogurt with our older son. Way less sugar and he doesn't know anything could taste better . We haven't tried with the baby yet but I am planning to do so soon.
Alright ladies, not caught up yet but I need some perspective and advice for those of you with babes in daycare. I've toured a number and have it down to two.
#1. Small church daycare where she would be in an older infant room, age 12-18 months. -Pros - Super close to home and therefore easier for my H to drop off/pick up. Cheaper. - Cons - Designated nap times and naps are on cots, not in cribs. This worries me that she will never nap again and be a hot mess whenever she's actually home because she'll be so sleep deprived.
#2. Small daycare in a room for 6 weeks-16 months - Pros - Small, clean, on the way to work for me. Cribs for naps, in a separate room. - Cons - more expensive. Since not as close to home, more out of the way for my H to ever drop off/pick up.
Also important to this equation: She won't start until September and so will be 11 months by then. We will likely move in the next 6-8 months and possibly have to find new daycare all over again. Also, H travels for work sometimes so I will be the primary person dropping off/picking up.
Okay. Discuss amongst yourselves. TIA!!!!
In my experience babies don't nap well in daycare when they are all on a different schedule. Our toddler has napped great there ever since he moved to a sleeping bag on the floor at 14 months. They put on lullaby music and everyone sleeps together. Both kids have slept like total crap in the infant rooms. So I would not choose based on sleep.
Being convenient is huge and with the chance you will move i would do 1 as long as you trust the care (do you have anyone to talk to who has a kid there?)
jellykat2 The nap setup wouldn't be a deal breaker for me. LO might have a rough few days, but will figure it out.
All things being equal, I would prefer a less expensive center closer to home.
Other factors I would consider: Child:staff ratio Hours Healthiness of food served Access to outdoor play space and amount of outdoor time General vibe and rapport with staff
I really would feel comfortable with her at either place. Ratios are the same. I liked #2 because it was a little newer and seemed brighter. But #1 does have a better outdoor space that they use. I will have to look at sample menus that they gave me. Thanks for thinking of that! You guys have made me feel better about the sleep thing too. My H is going to go check them out on Friday, so I'll see what he thinks too. But maybe #1 would be better for her. Plus, no small babies in her room - so more interaction with kids her age!
Also, sweetsurprise - we'll just move somewhere more local. I think you should move up here. It's too hot down there for me!!

#1- LO will adjust to the napping situation and by the time she starts she'll probably be down to 1-2X/day anyway. Plus it is easier to have H help when he can with drop offs.
#2- the cribs would be nice.
If it makes you feel better about naps..DD takes a 35 min and a 20 min nap at daycare and that's it. She's not a hot mess but does go to bed between 6:30 and 7.

Thanks. It is good to know. And ideally we'd like her to go down around 7:00 so she gets a good nights rest. So maybe it wouldn't be the worst thing if she's tired.
Question, what do you lads feed your kiddos for each meal?
DD does baby oatmeal in the morning and a jar of puree at lunch in addition to her bottles.
I really want to start getting her to eat more besides purees. She does great with puffs, toast, and mashed potatoes but I haven't tried much else because she hasn't been a fan.

My dd has been rejecting purees on most days. For breakfast I will scramble eggs and give her toast. I've also started cutting up really small pieces of ripe plums and blueberries. She doesn't seem to like banana or peaches.
For dinner she gets avacado or broccoli most nights, because she loves it. Tonight I also have her small pieces of chicken breast.
Sometimes after she eats I'll try to give her some purees too, just to get more in her depending how she ate. Especially in the AM (pears or applesauce or prunes) just to keep her from getting constipated.
I have good news ladies! My mom is finally off sedation and has her breathing tube out. She is still pretty disoriented, has some hopefully temporary short term memory less and is having trouble with her vision. We are hoping the blurred vision and memory loss is only temporary. I was supposed to fly back home tomorrow but I was able to push my flight back to Monday night with no extra fees from the airline.

This is awesome! Glad you're able to stay a little longer and hopefully she'll make a full recovery!

We do baby yogurt and DD loves it!! In the baby food isle

We feed him pretty much whatever we are eating. Some of his staples are:
breakfast: cut up banana, pancakes, waffles. If we don't have anything I'll send a baby food oatmeal/fruit canister
lunch: some combination of: small pieces of grilled cheese, peas, couscous, string beans (cut into small pieces), pita with hummus, cut up chicken nugget
dinner: we try to do whatever we are eating within reason. Tonight he had turkey taco meat, shredded cheese, couscous. We have done rice, baked chicken, baked pork, eggplant, noodles
he absolutely loves Cheerios and if he needs something for entertainment as we clean up he just houses them.
he loves to eat and we are trying to expose him to everything we can before he goes into the picky toddler stage.
meagpt22 - I can't find the original post and not sure this is helpful. For yogurt, I use the Plain full fat yogurt. It's hard to find for some dumb reason and I can only get the bigger containers.
I make fruit purees and mix them with the yogurt mysef. Like bananas, blueberries and yogurt. Or avocado, banana, pineapple and yogurt (that one is AMAZING!). You can freeze them but they get watery. So a tad messy to feed. But I like doing it.
sabby2 - C doesn't love textures or finger foods but we are trying. He loves scrambled eggs which is helpful for eating out (like at a diner). I steamed some baby carrots really well and cut them in half and give one with dinner. He's started to like it.
He likes meatballs, too... And Cheerios.
Other than that it's all homemade purees. He won't eat a banana, but loves banana purée.

We do oatmeal or a waffle at breakfast, and then it's all over the place: puréed fruits or veggies, soft pea size prices of meat and fruits or veg, smooshed black beans, soft avocado, streamed pieces of foods like carrot, apples, or sweet potato. I am not sure about what quantity we are supposed to do, but it's typically 2-3 tablespoons of whatever at each meal.
