sabby2 at home DD gets whatever is on my plate that is not processed and is healthy. So she's had all kinds of meats, fruit, veggies, bread, hummus, etc. I've been doing this since 6 months but it took close to 2 months for her to actually eat the food. At daycare she gets purees. She gets 3 meals and a snack a day plus her bottles. On a day she eats a lot she does cut her ounces.
I have good news ladies! My mom is finally off sedation and has her breathing tube out. She is still pretty disoriented, has some hopefully temporary short term memory less and is having trouble with her vision. We are hoping the blurred vision and memory loss is only temporary. I was supposed to fly back home tomorrow but I was able to push my flight back to Monday night with no extra fees from the airline.
Great news and glad you can stay some extra days to be with her!
We have started a weird pattern before bed with our little guy the past week. He eats half his bottle, flips over onto his belly (on me), then cracks up and tries to wrestle with the pillow. I let him play for a few minutes and tell him it's bedtime, not playtime. I put him in the crib, he cries for 2 minutes, calms down and then I go back and he drains the rest of the bottle and passes out. It's not a bad routine at all but just random.
He's still out by 7:30 so as long as he doesn't stretch it more I don't care.

Great news! I'm glad you're able to stay a few extra days, it will be good for both of you. I hope she continues to improve & that her complications are remedy quickly.
Breakfast is usually scrambbled egs & sausage or some variety of homemade puree such as eggplant, quinoa, sweet potato & spuash or avaxodo & pita or toast.. I also try to do fruit, usually banana. Sometime a smoothie with bananas, red raspberries & blue berries. Or a pear sliced.
Lunch is usually chunky purees like I mentioned above mixed variety. Or pita with avocado or hummas.
Dinner is typically what we eat, if healthy enough. So pasta & meatballs, chicken, pork, steak, lean ground beef. Veggies of some variety, steamed. Plus rice, baked potatoes or quinoa. And again fruit. Purees if an unhealthy meal.
They've had fish, venison & frog legs to name a few odd items & loved them all! We plan to try peanut butter tomorrow for the first time. We also don't do any dairy because Drew has an allergy.
I wanted to follow up on the foods discussion that DS would not eat any purees for over a month, and then he would only eat them for SIL, who is our part-time nanny. He just started eating purees (including oatmeal) for me last week (8.5 months.) and about 2 weeks ago would finally eat small pieces. Oatmeal is the only store-bought baby food. I make everything else or feed him from my plate at a restaurant. Before he would eat purees/small pieces, we did everything in the mesh feeder. I wanted to share that in case anyone was wondering if it's "normal" that their LO doesn't eat all the foods all day long!
DS pretty much eats anything we eat, except now I have to really make sure he's eating foods rich in iron to help his anemia. He usually gets rice cereal for breakfast. The rest of the day he gets whatever type of meat we're eating, pastas, broccoli, tofu (his all time favorite), and any other type of fruits or steamed vegetables. He's not a fan of purées anymore.
Question, what do you lads feed your kiddos for each meal?
DD does baby oatmeal in the morning and a jar of puree at lunch in addition to her bottles.
I really want to start getting her to eat more besides purees. She does great with puffs, toast, and mashed potatoes but I haven't tried much else because she hasn't been a fan.
K's new favorite food is string cheese. She also likes all the carbs. Pasta noodles might be a close second to string cheese. She refuses anything spoon fed now because she wants to feed herself. Some of the messier things she likes are quinoa and hummus.

sabby2 if you want, I can link you to a PDF I made of the baby led weaning book, which has lots of ideas for first finger foods in the last few chapters. That helped me get started.

stfu I must have missed this. I'm so glad your mom is doing better. I was wondering why you were else where lately but figured I missed you saying you were on vacation or something. I'm so sorry! Good news though!

The emergency surgery happened on Friday but I didn't post about it until Saturday.
