Would anyone be interested in this? I really like to read, but I'm having a hard time sticking with it with everything else I'm trying to get done, so maybe some accountability would help?
I'm currently rereading the entire HP series (only on ch. five of book one). DH is always asking me questions when we're watching the movies, & I find that I've forgotten a lot of the details, so it was time for a reread. But I could jump into something else as well

I love the idea of a book club sstwinklinglites, but I'm so bad about finishing books these days. I sure did smash some books though while preggos, and I miss those days. I was one for reading anything non-fiction, which usually ended up being depressing.
I'm in the same boat as everyone here. I like to read but struggle to find the time. I started The Goldfinch over Christmas break and am getting through it very slowly.
I know in my mom's book club they just take turns choosing a book each month. That way it gets some people out of their comfort zones to read something they might not have chosen themselves.

I think the idea of letting a different person pick the book each month gives everyone a good opportunity to get one of their picks in and get everyone else reading something they may not necessarily read.
And what, we discuss the book every week? Give a quiz? Vocabulary words?
I was thinking whoever picks the book is the moderator for the discussion (ie keep it going and think of questions for the group to discuss). I'm also for picking a night during the week to meet for book club once/ month. Maybe somewhere central Cincinnati.
I'd be willing to try. Although, much like the rest of us, I'm not sure I could keep up. DD is needy and high maintenance.
I say we do every two months then, since the consensus is that we're slow readers these days.
How about everyone who wants to participate checks in (I'll make a separate check in thread tonight), then I'll enter the names in a virtual hat so to speak, that will give us a random lineup, and that'll be the order of each person that gets to pick the book every two months. Let me know if this sounds good.

It might be easier if someone just volunteers each time. That way nobody's ever thinking "Oh shit, it's my turn, I have to go find a book." And if someone has a book in mind that they have been wanting to read, they don't have to wait until their name randomly comes up.
