Please don't shoot me if this has been discussed still trying to figure out this tapatalk... I did search and came up with nothing! (Not sure if I did it right)
Okay back to the topic.
Are any of you on a pain management program or need to take pain meds sporadically through out your pregnancy?
This is a medical question, and the answer is going to depend on what your condition is, what you're taking, and how much. Strangers on the internet can give you support and sympathy for what you're dealing with, but they're not a great resource for this kind of advice. Talk to your doctors about it, and do what they say.
I asked what others were on. Not about myself, but thanks. Was wondering if there are others in my boat on pain management.
But what pain are you managing? A headache? A random one time pain? A chronic pain that you've previously discussed with your doctor? Those kind of things are important if you want any answers, especially relevant ones. I think you were a bit quick to get defensive.
I don't have any personal experience with chronic pain, but my husband does and so do a lot of my patients (I'm a maternity nurse). So I just want to say I'm sorry you're dealing with this. Chronic pain is a tough thing to deal with, never mind all the stigma attached, and when you're pregnant it turns into a extra-specially shitty ride to be on. A lot of women I've helped take care of (prenatally and postpartum) really struggled with how best to manage it, and constantly worry of how their LOs might be affected.
None of that is easy. It sucks. I wish nobody had to go through it.
Big hugs to you, mama. I hope you and your doctors can find a good balance that works for you. Wishing you and your LO all the best.

No experience personally. My sister has chronic migraines and got the go ahead for hydros if needed. They gave her specifications for limited dosage for certain periods and also warned her about the baby being affected, or possibly addicted if used too long and too close to the end of the pregnancy.
She doesn't take them unless absolutely necessary. For her sometimes a massage therapist, chiropractor, acupuncture or baths does the trick.
I'll explain myself better. There are these places called pain management clinics and they put you on a pain management program. When you deal with chronic pain you usually have to go there to receive meds since there are so many addicts now a days.
I am a patient at one and was wondering if there were any other pregnant woman who are apart. Idc why they are there I was wanting to get to know other women in a similar situation as myself, having to take medications throughout pregnancy. I take it nobody who has read this besides redaero know what I was talking about.
I'm sorry that you have to deal with chronic pain. That really sucks. I just felt your tone was a bit weird. Hope you can manage everything during pregnancy.
ajetter Not sure how you could think font over the Internet could sound "weird". I also hope next time you use google the next time you don't know what something like "pain management program" means.
jaxx - to back up ajetter, your second post definitely had an off tone about it. It was defensive, intentional or not. And she apologized for misunderstanding.

Agreed. I was confused by the OP too until she explained it thoroughly, and I don't think the answers she received until then or after were remotely off the mark. jaxx -- drop your shields from 100% to about 85%.

That's the thing with reading stuff on the Internet. I can't hear your voice, and when I read your second post it sounded as if you were offended that PP suggested you give more info or discuss with your doctor. That's all. You clarified, we're good.
I have taught pain management to a lot of patients over the years from a psychological point of view since many were trying to reduce their med intake. I can't speak to the meds obviously, but there are a lot of psych techniques that can work along with your meds. I know this isn't what you asked, but it can be helpful at times. For someone with chronic pain even a minute without pain is a miracle. Best of luck to you.

Objectively. I agree with PP, OP you were a bit defensive and off-putting. I am sure you didn't mean it that way, but that is how it came off. Especially the Google if you don't know. Hat was a bit much. Maybe if it was explained properly from the beginning, it would have been all good. Sorry you are dealing with chronic pain, I am sure that sucks!
