Hi ladies,
I've been lurking a bit these past few weeks, and think I am ready to join you all, if you'll have me? I'll add my intro to the intro post as well, but also wanted to intro on the main page.
We are expecting baby #3. We had our first ultrasound yesterday, and baby looked good. I am now 8 weeks 1 day, with a due date of February 29, 2016 (leap year baby!) which is kind of cool, but I have been told, due to my history, that I will deliver by 38 weeks, if not sooner.
About me - I am 32, DH is 33. We met in high school and have been together 15 years, married for 10. Our oldest son turned 5 in June. He was born at 40 weeks via emergency C-section due to decreased movement and fetal distress. It was determined that my placenta had aged prematurely and he had IUGR and weighted 5 lbs 10 oz when he was born, even though he was full term. He ended up spending 9 days in the NICU, and had many medical concerns come up all throughout his first couple of years, and after many tests, doctor visits, assessments, early intervention, speech therapy, physical therapy he is now developmentally on track and doing great! He is such a sweet boy and DH and I are so proud of him!
We found out we were pregnant again in February 2013, and were so excited to find out we were having another boy. I was due October 2013, but when I was 31 weeks 3 days, I noticed that baby boy wasn't moving as much as normal. When I got to the doctor's, they pulled out the Doppler and then did an ultrasound to determine that baby boy's heart had stopped beating. I ended up needing another emergency C-section, along with blood and platelet transfusions and a couple days in the ICU due to internal bleeding as a result. It was determined that I had had a complete placental abruption and after genetic testing and consults with a variety of doctors, no known cause was ever found. My MFM has given her best guess as to the cause, but that is the closest we will get as to a reason why. Our second son was born still on August 28, 2013 and it is so hard to believe that we are just a little over a month away from what would be his second birthday. He is has changed my life forever, and I am so so proud to be his mama.
After losing our second son, we were advised to wait a year before trying again. It then took us 11 months of TTCAL to get our BFP, which we got on Father's Day - which was so cool! We are nervous and excited and hopeful and anxious about the next 9 months, and praying that we get to bring this baby home.
Other info about me - I am a WAHM, was addicted to cloth diapering with our first son, have a degree in Interior Design, I love to read, shop, watch Friends, and really wish this morning sickness would go away so I can enjoy my Starbucks again. For more on our life as family of four that looks like three, I stay busy on my blog, alittlefudge.wordpress.com.
I am excited to join you all, and if you made it through all of that - high fives!
