Yesterday my friend and I went shopping for party supplies for DH's birthday. We got so much train stuff, it's going to be hilarious! As I've said, I'm so not a party planner, but I think that we're doing an awesome job with this one. It's going to look like it's straight out of pinterest! I'm so excited

I just got 'talked to' about spending money. Great way to start the day. Let's see- I buy food and necessities for DD. DH buys new bat, cleats, baseball pants, glove, and sunglasses. I don't own a bra that fits me and haven't bought one because cash flow is tight but please DH, go on a float trip this weekend and spend over $200 so far and not be done spending yet. TP to you DH

Wtf!
Could you guys sit down and agree on spending money for each of you each month? Food and necessities don't count!

Sounds like he doesn't get a trip this weekend if money is so tight... Jackass.

TP indeed. DH also gets moody about money. One minute he's taking cab rides all over the place and talking about all the vacations he wants to go on, and the next minute he is giving me a (mildly) hard time about buying DS some new onesies.
My sister is turning into a bridezilla. I'm throwing her a shower. I was already scoping out invites when she sent me a bunch of links to "suggested" invitations. I know she has a very specific vibe in mind, so the links he sent me were mostly invites I was already considering.
I've been finalizing the invites to get them printed. I mentioned it to my sister and she was offended that I hadn't sent her a version for her approval. She's also concerned that I'm not going to get them sent out until the first week of August (for a September 13 shower) because she wants to make sure everyone comes and gives her as many presents as possible.

Yuk! My SIL was like this and it drove me bat shit crazy! Why do people have to be like this! Just be grateful enough that anyone is even throwing you a damn shower!

I'm shocked. Totally shocked...
But seriously, send me an invite. I'll even bring a gift.
Good morning! A woke up at 5am today and I had the hardest time getting her back asleep so I brought her into bed with me. She ending up sleeping until 8am, it was amazing!
saraml13 wow, sister. My friend that threw me the shower was sort of the opposite. She was constantly sending me stuff for "approval", trying to get me to pick the theme, and ultimately trying to get me to plan everything. "Where do you think I could get tablecloths?" Um, the party store. They're like a dollar. That was actually worse than a crappy shower was one where I had to do everything myself. Tell your sister that. It's more fun to be pampered and surprised!
DS woke at 5 and didn't go back down until 7:15, so when we woke up again at 8:45 I was sure it would be to hot to go run. Damn if it isn't 65 and cloudy. Off to run. Yay. Only one week took my race!

Pics or it didn't happen.
Most of our train loot is at her moms house where we're having the party. But don't worry, I'll probably be a big AW once everything is all set up. Look out for pics on Friday & Saturday!
I'm doing that thing where I sit in my parked car because my kid is sleeping. I'm starving though so don't know how much longer I can hold out. I may start snacking on the kid's cheerios...

DH and I do this 1-2x/year to re assess our budget. It helps prevent discussions about where money is going. Helps him understand that certain things can't be cut and other things can. It also helps that we have separate accounts for our own fun things.. He doesn't know how much I spend on clothes and I don't know how much he spends on booze haha.

We also have separate accounts. We have a minimum amount that must go into our joint checking to cover bills. We take turns buying groceries. Everything else is 100% our separate stuff. But to see one spouse "struggling" and not doing anything for herself while you blow hundreds on yourself is a dick move.
I've written 3 posts in randoms and they keep going away.
Today is better for me but mostly because I'm at work. And it's way easier than dealing with my baby at the moment.
supplycloset - solidarity. We've been having similar convos here lately too. They aren't directed at my spending, but MH doesn't seem to understand how things add up. Every time I point out why we don't have more in savings (going out to dinner, buying new coasters, etc.) he just says "But none of that was more than $50". Well, right... but 10 things for $50 = .....?? It's annoying.

Yeah I agree with sitting down and talking about it. H and I are usually on the same page with money. We will often sit and talk through our finances and we used to even have date nights were we sit down and have a nice dinner and go over our budget. I keep a running spreadsheet. I know that sounds weird, but it relieves a lot of stress and tension and we always know where we stand.
I am being a procrastinator about doing 30 day shred on lunch. I should just do it and be done.... I need to get into a better habit if I want to win the NOTCHbet!

Do it! It's only 20 minutes and you'll be on track!

TPs to your H. It's frustrating to not be on the same page with the same priorities for spending.

That's annoying. Hopefully she calms down once the invites are out.

Hopefully, but probably not. I think the next step is her starting to ask about favors, flowers, games, etc. She has lots of opinions about those things. Which I know because she sent me a whole Pinterest board full of ideas.
