11:24AM in August 2015 Moms
Hi ladies. Couldn't sleep all night. I knew something was happening, but wanted to labor at home for as long as I could I labored at home from 1am until 8:30am. My water broke at about 7am while using the restroom. Today was the day of my 38 week check up so I figured I would just tough it out until 11am and let my doctor know what was happening. Well back labor kicked in and I ditched that plan to head straight in to labor and delivery. When I got all settled in and they checked me I was 5cm dilated and 90% effaced. They started an IV and administered penicillin as I tested positive for strep b. Labor is progressing "really fast" but they are trying to keep him in so he has the meds for 4 hours minimum. Fingers crossed baby Sunshine stays put. I am a little bummed that I didn't make it to 40 weeks, but thankful that baby is doing well and staying put for now. Thanks in advance for well wishes!! Greatly appreciated...ouch contraction
UPDATE (birth):
Baby sunshine did wonderful!!! He was born at 2:50pm a very healthy 7lbs 2oz and 20 inches long. He came out peeing on everyone, except his mommy ..My boy.. I was checked after the 4 hour window and was exactly 10cm dialated. Dr said she was touching baby's head and didn't want me to push. She came back everyone prepped the room and I pushed twice and he was out. One more push for the placenta and done! I could not have asked for a better delivery. Everyone was wonderful! Thanks so much for your prayers and well wishes! They worked. I will still be a Aug. 15 mom. I can't leave you all, I got the feels for ya!
Follow up:
Baby Sunshine has had some trouble with his Jaundice level. Turns out our blood types are different AND I am breastfeeding. This combo makes it easier for him to get Jaundice. He was discharged at a 5 for bilirubin on a Friday. By Monday at his newborn well baby visit, it was 12. Today is was an amazingly high of 22! His color is great and had been getting better so the number 22 had me freaking out! His pediatrician called me and told me to meet her at the ER. We are here now and after the blood work comes back, we will know if he will be admitted or discharged. Prayers and well wishes appreciated.
