It's looking like it will impact most of the east coast, by NYC and northern New Jersey expected to have maybe more than 2 feet of snow! For those of you in the area - what do you think you and SO will do to keep busy (and not drive one another crazy) while snowed in??
I told my H I'm totally ok with him locking himself in the man cave to indulge in hours of video games and beer. It'll likely be his last chance!!
I don't live in that area, but I'm keeping an eye on that storm, because I love weather. I'd go absolutely insane...not because of my H, but I know, for sure, that my 12 year old and 10 year old would drive me insane. Plus, I work from home, so snow days don't ever exist for me even when we do get ice/snow in Atlanta.

I'll likely get the day off of work since I teach in a public school. My H works with patient care so he'll have to go in. I'm hoping he can use public transport! Daycare is cancelled whenever school is so I guess it'll be just me and DD. I'd love to get work done but that didn't happen the last snow day we had. I foresee a lot of entertaining the 2 year old.
Fortunately, or unfortunately, I will still have to work from home as long as we have power, and if we run out - as long as I can charge my phone and computer.
My H works at a rehab and will have to go to work unless the roads are not passable. If he is home with me, I know he will stay in bed with me all day and play Clash of Clans while I work. That doesn't make me happy - but he only has 2 more weeks until I will erase the game off of his phone if it interferes even in the least little bit with him being attentive to me or the baby (like I have to wait for him to change a diaper unti after a battle).
If I didn't have to work - we would snuggle in bed or in the living room most of the day in front of the fire and drink tea and watch law & order.

I'm in CT and while we need the money badly, I'm looking forward to an extra day home with my family. I'm thinking of baking something yummy all together, doing some work upstairs (we are almost done, guise), maybe doing a fun activity with E, and having some sort of yummy dinner and movie? I'm excited, honestly, and we haven't gotten nearly enough snow in NE this year!!
It's my day off from work anyway, so it doesn't look like I'll lose any days, which is nice because I want to work all the shifts I can before maternity leave. Normally dd would have preschool, but it'll probably be canceled. My fiancée plows during snow storms so he'll most likely be out for the majority of it. The extra money is nice when he plows, but I feel bad because he's usually out for an extremely long time.
We will just stay in bake, patiently wait for the snow to stop so we can make a snowman.

My SO plows so I don't have to worry about him annoying me..he's done enough of that today as it is. But I'll enjoy being snowed in with DS unless we lose power cause that'll suck ass. I'm going to attempt to run to the store to grab some fun snacks for the two of us and Maybe well watch movies, take naps and bake some brownies
I'm not from that area but we're supposed to get a bunch of snow tonight. I'm really not looking forward to it. I hate having to drive in rush hour in snow/ice.

I'm in NOVA and they keep downgrading the storm. As much as I hate snow, I was actually hoping it would dump a lot so H could stay home an extra day or two and work on the nursery. Looks like a big storm for the northeast!
We're in Upstate NY, and apparently it's supposed to hit us Monday night/Tuesday early am… a friend posted an article on fb about it, and my first thought was, "dammit. I hope they don't cancel school…" Mom of the year, over here DH is in the navy and basically never gets snow days, but he's kind of a country boy at heart and he likes rescuing "city folk" from the snow banks. <insert loving eye roll here>
We never ever ever ever get any real snow here and the country seems completely unprepared for it when we do we had like less than half a cm the other day and my entire town was gridlocked it was ridiculous! Hope you guys are all ok in the snow! X

I work from home but if they close then I don't have to check in. My H will likely lose some of his time if he can't make it in. He is gassing up the cars and snow blower and we have a lot of salt and sand. Most importantly we have girl scout cookies now.

It's really too early to be worried about this at 34/35 weeks but is anyone else irrationally worried about going into labor during a blizzard? With my first it was a rain storm and L&D was very busy. One of the nurses said the drop in barometric pressure usually brings more women in labor. I'm not sure how true that is. I have a 20 minute drive without traffic.
Were in south jersey. Our specific town loses power when a fucking bird lands on a telephone wire so I'm sure we'll lose power for this. H will probably get off work, at least he better. I don't want him driving in this. He has to go to DC Wednesday so hopefully the trains are all clear to go by then. If we lose power well be laying in bed trying to stay warm and read or something. If not, well sit on our phones and iPad and watch tv lol
I live in the area (on another note, DH went to PSU . I think we're suppose to get anywhere from 8-12 inches. I plan on going to AC Moore really quick tomorrow morning, grabbing some yarn and working on some baby hats. I was thinking of setting up an etsy shop soon, so it'll give me the boost I need.
I'm not from that area but we're supposed to get a bunch of snow tonight. I'm really not looking forward to it. I hate having to drive in rush hour in snow/ice.
Damn, we are? I was hoping it would just be rain. I drive 90 min to work in the morning ... ughhh
I hope no one loses power! Im in VA and they cant decide whats going to happen tomorrow. Both DH and I are hoping for more snow than ice, I hate ice.
Ice would suck but it sounds like we're getting rain first which would make it a distinct possibility. Boo.
There's so much uncertainty in the DMV area forecast! It sucks; I hope to at least get a work delay out of it. H's work follows what the Feds do but he'd probably still have to work from home if they were closed.

I've heard up to 5 inches. Their estimating all over the place depending if you're north or south of the city. I'm hoping they're way overestimating.
My office has already suggested people think before coming in. My parents also just called us to make sure we have food and water. It's cute - we are prepared. My only fear is that I may have to go to the hospital so I am going to be sending my H out every few hours to clear off the car.

I'm in MA, so expecting this Monday night and all day Tues into Wed. I'm looking forward to at least one day off of school...as much as I want more time with LO in June, I'm tired and love the idea of being snowed in with DH and my pup.
It takes an awful lot to get a snow day in nyc, and I'm still not sure whether it will happen, but it's looking more and more likely. My school will typically follow whatever the public schools decide.
Because I now commute to Manhattan via NJTransit, I don't think it will be worth it for me to try to get to work on Tuesday no matter what, so it will be super annoying if we're open and I have to send in plans.
I'm looking forward to the likely day at home, though. DH and I typically just chill and bask in each other's company--read together, watch netflix, talk about things. Heavenly
God I feel so vulnerable driving pregnant in winter weather. It's not even that bad here, but all I can think about is wrecking & hurting my little guy. I'll be that girl driving 25 in the 70 today...
We aren't in the path of the storm; however, I'm thinking about all of you mommas that are! Please be careful out there! We need you all to stay safe and sound.

We are having a BOY!
Stay safe ladies! I am a weather nerd and follow a bunch of weather guys on FB. I love reading about these kinds of storms, but am so glad I don't have to deal with it. Stay safe and warm! No walking on frozen ponds, please!
I'm still waiting for the weather channel to make up its mind about how much snow we're going to get. I'm in Central NJ, so we're waffling between 5-8 inches and 12-18 inches. It's a big freaking difference one way or the other. My jobs already closed so I'll be home crocheting and hoping I don't have to bust out the generator. The last big snowstorm wiped us out of power for 10 days.
DH works at a hospital, so unless the roads are impassible he'll be going in, which will have me stressed out the entire time he's on the road.
Stay safe, everyone! I've been checking the weather and while we're getting rain down here, I really hope it's all a bit overblown up there for you all and you don't get hammered!
